Beginner to advanced instruction in core Bass Guitar techniques and principles. Fretboard memorization, rhythmic ideas, phrasing, playing with other people and jamming to recorded music, scales and arpeggios, and how to lock in with a drummer will all be covered in depth.
I received my education at the University of Wisconsin, majoring in Jazz Guitar. I've studied with some of the best guitarists in the Midwest, and have performed live and in recording studios all across the country in a variety of styles (Rock, Metal, Bluegrass, Jazz, Classical, Country). I've performed internationally, and my playing has been featured on several prime time television shows. I've always had a love of music, and it’s a passion that I try to instill in all of my students!
Through focus on note reading, chords, improvisation, and technique, I try to give my students tools that
they can take with them throughout their musical journey, whether playing music for fun or professionally!
*** Lesson Details *** I like to be laid back and very individual with my approach. I always introduce a curriculum designed to teach basic chords, note reading, and basic theory, but I also understand that each student has a particular set of interests, and I want to inspire them to follow those interests. Whether it's Rock, Blues, Country, Folk, or Classical, I want to give my students the tools and understanding that they need to excel at the music that drives them.
*** Travel Equipment *** I expect my students to have everything that they need to practice the materials that I give them, including an instrument, amplifier and tuner if necessary, and a music stand. I provide all lesson materials.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in rock, metal, country, blues, and jazz with an emphasis on theory and technique.

My Name is Hilarie and I'm 49 years old and I took a 40 year hiatus from playing the Piano. I can tell you that my skill level is that of a beginner with a mind set of at least intermediate . I have completed my 7th week with Jordan as my teacher. He has been exceptional in his patience, professionalism and most of all encouragement! Our lessons are well rounded and he helps me to focus on the fundamentals I need to achieve my goals . Very respectful and polite. I highly recommend Jordan to all who wish for musical instruction. And I must add that he is very cute/handsome! :)

All four of my children have taken lessons with Jordan, in piano and acoustic guitar. Jordan has a natural way with children, and adapts his style and lessons to the individual needs of each child. Jordan's musical gifts, and his gift of relating to and teaching, children makes him and excellent teacher. I recommend him whole-heartedly.

I have played in bands, recorded music, and taken a few lessons with Jordan in the past. He is without a doubt, one of the most gifted musicians I have ever had the pleasure to work with. In addition, he is a very patient and attentive teacher and caters his teaching to suit the needs/abilities of the student. I highly recommend Jordan for lessons on multiple instruments, you won't be disappointed.
I've been teaching bass guitar for six years now in a variety of different styles. Some styles include, but not limited to: rock, metal, funk, blues, pop and more. I like to work on various techniques and playing styles so that my students develop their own unique approach and can incorporate many different styles into their own playing.
I grew up in Minnesota and started playing guitar when I was 13. Self-taught for three years, I developed a passion and love for music. Upon turning 16, I expanded my knowledge studying with a local guitarist, a musical genius in my opinion, who made a huge impact on my playing. In the fall of 2007 I relocated to Los Angeles to attend Musicians Institute for guitar performance. I graduated in 2009
Over the course of the last nine years I've been a part of six different live performing bands and currently work with my original band comprised entirely of Musicians Institute graduates, Delp
hian. Delphian can be seen and heard featured on screen in the Mike Judge film “Extract”. I study, perform and have vast knowledge in the styles of blues, classical, country, folk, jazz, metal and rock n' roll. Everyday as I continue to grow as a teacher and musician, so does my love for the guitar. I very much enjoy sharing my knowledge and seeing each of my students progress and grow as musicians.
*** Lesson Details *** Every lesson will be tailored exactly to what you want to learn. We can cover specific topics such as music theory, harmony and improvisation, but if you would prefer to just work on learning your favorite songs, that's precisely what we'll do. Let me know what you want to learn and it will be done. We'll monitor your progress to help reach your goals. Most importantly, we will have fun while learning!
*** Studio Equipment *** Acoustic and electric guitars and basses, amps, cables, music stands, PC with QBase recording software
*** Travel Equipment *** I can provide my own equipment. Guitar, amp, and cables. Students should have their own guitar and amp.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in rock and metal, but I love to teach other styles like classical guitar, blues, jazz, and country.

We started off with a different drum instructor who turned out to be very unreliable. I asked take lessons to provide me with someone with good reviews. Someone who is punctual and reliable, that's when we met Jason. Jason is a super amazing instructor who has incredible patience. My son Nathan has never had any musical education before. After taking lessons with Jason for about three months he has a vast knowledge in playing drums and reading music. Jason utilizes his time very productively during lessons with no rush. He even goes to the extent to recommend and suggest products that will help Nathan improve. He is very humble, sweet and trustworthy. My family is glad that he came along. Thank you Jason from all of us.

Eli has been awesome. My son is really enjoying his lessons and feels so happy with his progress every week. Eli obviously has skills AND he knows how to share them. We couldn't be happier.

Very good with young children
My son is 4 years old and has only had two sessions with Eli however, he does a very good job of communicating with him on his level and keeping his focus. He also has given him practice exercises which seem to do the trick.
James Edward Tuppen, II (jimmynovacaine) is an experienced and accomplished musician that hails from around the world. Tuppen discovered his passion for music thirteen years ago after moving with his family to Singapore, South-East Asia where he experienced his first concert watching pop-punk groups Sum 41 and local band Pug Jelly.
It was at that moment that Tuppen decided on the path he would take throughout his life. Tuppen later joined the pop-punk trio from Pug Jelly on a new venture that was named Saw Loser. It was with Pug Jelly and Saw Loser that he gained experience in touring and
performing all over the eastern hemisphere in countries such as: Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, and Australia to name a few. Through the band's success Tuppen was able to play and work with renowned bands and artists like Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, Avril Lavigne, Sum 41, as well as, many more through large-scale, international festivals known as Sing Fest (Singapore), Pattaya International Music Festival (Thailand), Good Vibrations Festival (Singapore/Australia), Pop Carnival (Japan), and Soundrenaline (Indonesia).
Upon Saw Loser's independent success, Tuppen and the band landed record deals through major record label: Universal Music and independent record label: In and Out records (Japan). The band quickly gained traction in the media with newspapers all over the eastern hemisphere with Singaporean zines: Lime Magazine and Teenage Magazine, Japanese rock zine: INROCK, and television channels: MTv Asia, and RAGE TV (Australia).
In the midst of the band's momentum, Tuppen gained world-class endorsements with companies like ESP Guitars and Sennheiser. Both companies grew Saw Loser and Tuppen's popularity through rapid marketing on public transportation and artist profiles on their international websites, as well as through artist clinics with ESP endorsed artist Kiko Loureiro in Singapore.
During the bands preproduction phase of their sophomore album to be recorded in Ft. Collins, Colorado at the Blasting Room Studios with Bill Stevenson (Black Flag, The Descendents, and The Lemonheads), Saw Loser went on hiatus. All plans for travels to the United States to play at the world famous Whisky A Go Go, along with other venues on the way to record in Colorado, were cancelled. Saw Loser would never play in North America, but Tuppen would.
During his own personal three year hiatus from performance, Tuppen moved back to Texas and enrolled in Berkleemusic (Berklee College of Music online school) to gain master certification in Theory, Harmony, and Ear Training while simultaneously attending the Steinway Music School at Midland College to earn his degree in performing arts. Towards the end of his final semester, Tuppen met a former drummer of Here Lies the Hero that would introduce Tuppen to his new band mates and partners in an excIting career.
With Here Lies the Hero, Tuppen has so far performed with the likes of From First to Last, Dayshell, We Came As Romans, He is Legend, Of Mice & Men, August Burns Red, Trivium, A Lot Like Birds, Norma Jean, For the Fallen Dreams, Jamie's Elsewhere, Divided By Friday, Greeley Estates, Letlive, Secrets, and many more. The bands epic performances with Tuppen secured him with his long desired endorsement with favored guitar company, Ernie Ball Music Man and cable company, Intex Cables. As the band rapidly grew, Tuppen moved the project to the heart of the music industry in Los Angeles, California - perhaps where he was destined to be all along - where he resides today instructing up and coming artists, producing refreshing new projects, and performing around the country.

I really appreciate James' patience and persistence. it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. James is a very talented young man with an outgoing personality, he is obviously comfortable with people and has a great knowledge and understanding of music.
I would recommend him without a doubt.

Can not say enough nice things about James. He is very patient, super knowledgeable, compassionate and passionate about what he is teaching and doing! Incredibly good with kids, too. Highly recommend him.
I can teach you how to play with fingers and pick, walking bass Lines for blues or jazz, popular rock and pop songs.
I come from Italy, but have been living in the US for the past twelve years. I have achieved two degrees (production & performance) cum laude at the prestigious Berklee College Of Music in Massachusetts and have ever since worked as a guitarist and producer. I have been teaching for over ten years privately and in schools. I have helped students of all levels from beginners to fellow professionals. My philosophy is to make the learning process as enjoyable as possible and at the same time make sure the student keeps marking solid progress towards their goals. I believe to achieve that as man
y of my students told me I had helped them not just in the subject, but in their overall confidence, concentration skills and the quality of their study or practice.
Giovanni G. October 24, 2014
Andrea is a very good guitar teacher, I can guarantee. While he was in Italy this summer, I had the chance to take a few lessons from him. I am a beginner, so we focused on rather simple things, but what I can say without a doubt is that his approach to teaching is very useful and at the same time funny. I had taken some lessons with other teachers before, but they were somehow dull and left me a sensation of "incompleteness" like I hadn't been able to fully comprehend what was taught to me. This was not the case. Plus, he's Italian, so could you ask for more than a good lesson AND pasta?

"I've been working with David for a couple of months, and it has been a great experience. I'm new to bass, with a little guitar experience--he quickly siz
ed up what I knew and had me working on exercises and a great bass line that got me playing right away. He has been very flexible and accommodating of my schedule needs, and he gives plenty of positive and constructive feedback. I've been working in education for nearly 30 years, and I know a great teacher when I see one. David fits the bill, and I'm lucky to be working with him."

"Excellent Bass Guitar Instructor!
Rick has been my son's bass guitar teacher for the last year. We are impressed with his genuine care and concern for ou
r 17 year old son as a person and a bass guitar player. He always works with us and our schedule considering we have to make a 30-40 minute drive across San Antonio for his lessons. We highly recommend Rick for both his great character qualities as well as his guitar instructor expertise!"

"I am not one for writing reviews unless a person or product is exceptionally good, or bad. As a child, I took guitar lessons and the experience made me g
ive it up. Yes, a bad instructor can kill a dream.
Fast forward a few decades and my wife insists that my birthday gift is a bass guitar and instructor (she was tired of seeing me air guitar). I considered lots of potential teaches because I didn't want a repeat of my last experience. I chose Courtney.
He immediately identified and corrected the bad habits that my childhood instructor had taught. Suddenly, I wasn't just playing notes...I was playing music and having the time of my life doing it. Pardon the pun, but Courtney is a rock star!!
His lessons were tailored to me, and he even provided cord call outs (he spoke the notes as he played them) to my wish list songs so I could practice them between lessons. It has been only a few months and I am now jamming to my songs. I am so happy. My wife...well she sometimes wishes for the quieter air guitar days."

"The boost I needed to get playing again
Will's lessons didn't only help improve my bass playing, but also gave me the confidence I needed before recordin
g in the studio. He was patient and didn't mind working with me until I had my skills down. His lessons are more practical than others I have had with a more "classical" feel. I would recommend Will's lessons to anyone who is looking to improve their bass playing or have some fun rocking out to great tunes."

"All around wonderful teacher
Marcus is quite the gifted teacher. By far the best I've had the pleasure to aspire under. He is very easy to understand, an
d doesn't overwhelm you, taking time on the little things (the most important). He creates an atmosphere that is encouraging to learn in. We all know those teachers that create a stressful environment that inhibits progressive learning, as well as frustration in yourself. Marcus is certainly the opposite. He is also quite easy to communicate with--Creating lesson plans, setting goals, etc... In summation, a professional and a friend I would recommend to anyone and everyone."
