About Sarah
I am looking for new students that want to learn music or sing.

I come from the greater Modesto, CA area. I am a veteran music teacher with over 19 years of teaching vocal and instrumental music. I have taught both in the private and public sectors.

I hold a current music teaching certificate with a BA in Music Education, MA in Elementary Education, and an MA in Reading/Music Focus.

I believe that anyone can learn to sing or play a musical instrument. I am passionate about teaching music and the joy that comes from learning music.

I am experienced in the areas of vocal and instr
umental performance through concerts, recitals, musicals, community service, festivals and competitions. Some of my planned musical performances are a Christmas concert, playing and singing in our local mall at Christmas time, and a planned spring recital.

I am a classical and traditional music teacher with many new contemporary styles of teaching music.

My atmosphere of teaching is fun and nurturing!

*** Lesson Details ***
For online lessons, I am currently only teaching Guitar, Voice, Ukulele, Trumpet, and Clarinet.

Lessons are weekly or bi-weekly with a structure lesson, musical games to teach reinforcement and new concepts. I structure my music lessons according to the learning style of each of my students. Patience and understanding my students helps them in their success!
So, there is a lot of praise and encouragement in each lesson. Once a month there is music history that is taught with the lesson and music theory is included in each music lesson.

With each lesson book, there are weekly practice sheets to document daily and weekly practice. Practice is one of the most important keys to learning music. Each student is encouraged to learn one song or musical concept at their own pace.

Every week, I assess each student as they play for me their musical work. I don't expect perfection, but strive for excellence!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Great room w/ baby grand piano and seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide assorted music books for piano, guitar, and band.
I have a great number of recorders with books.
Two music stands, one snare drum with sticks, CD player
I prefer, if I should travel, for my piano students to have their own piano/electric piano or guitar for guitar lessons.
Band: to have their own instrument to learn on and practice at home
Orchestral instruments: the same.

*** Specialties ***
Classical, Christian and contemporary choir, band, and orchestra. Specialize in vocal coaching/voice lessons. Specialize in musical productions in both Christian and contemporary styles.

About Greg
I started playing guitar in the 5th grade and in middle school began playing in rock groups. At the beginning of high school, I started teaching in some of the local music stores in the area. While wanting more from my playing, I started classical guitar lessons with an Andre Segovia student, Rani Cochran, and soon started lessons from Warren Nunes, a top jazz guitarist in the Bay Area. While continuing to take lessons in both types of music, I majored in Music at the local college. There I played in the jazz band and in guitar ensembles. After receiving my A.A. degree, I took classical guita
r lessons with Larry Ferrara at the Conservatory of Music in San Francisco. At this point I transferred to San Jose State University and received a B.A. in guitar performance and a B.A. in Psychology, graduating with honors. My latest performing experience has been playing in the worship band at my church for the past several years. I enjoy teaching guitar and sharing what I’ve learned over the years of playing. We all never stop being students and learning new things on our instrument.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are provided in a comfortable, fun environment and are private and on a weekly basis. Initially the student will complete a questionnaire before the first lesson to allow me to better understand what experiences the student has had with the guitar and with music in general. Additionally, I try to find out what groups and guitarists he or she likes. Finally, discuss what goals the student has or put another way, what he or she wants to do with the guitar. When we have completed the first lesson, I will better understand what the student’s playing level is and be able to provide a lesson plan based on that level and current experience. The lessons are tailored to each student’s capability and desire to play/practice. The lessons will be challenging but not “out of reach”. The student will feel successful and see the difference in playing within a relatively short time.

I will assess the student’s progress each week, by reviewing the previous week’s work. Based on the student’s progress, I will advance to new material or stay within the same material. The student and I will agree on how much time the student will devote to practicing each week. The student will keep a three ring notebook for adding handouts as they are given. I usually use a guitar book, to have structure, along with supplementary material that fills in the gaps. It is vital to practice on a regular basis in order to improve.
I provide teaching with patience and motivation. Being a parent of a child with ADHD (I homeschooled for one year), I incorporate learning from my parental experiences into lessons as needed. There have been several studies done that show how early music lessons have longtime benefits.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The studio lessons are taught in a music room upstairs with large windows facing the street with guitars, amps, a computer, stereo and seating. The house has 3 cats which are kept separate from lessons. Street parking and/or driveway if needed.

*** Specialties ***
I've taught rock, blues, jazz, classical, contemporary Christian, and music theory. I try to get my students to play along with CD's and listen to others playing what they want to learn. I draw material from the hundreds of books I have collected over the years.

About Amanda
Hello, I'm excited you're thinking about music lessons! It is my passion to provide high-quality education to young learners. I obtained my B.M. in Violin Performance from West Chester University. I have been furthering my teaching skills as an active American String Teachers Association member, through Suzuki training, and pedagogy study at The Juilliard School during the Starling-Delay Symposium on Violin Studies. I perform with the Livermore-Amador Symphony and the Awesome Orchestra Collective.

I work to help students create and achieve their musical goals. I pride myself on clearly comm
unicating lesson topics and assignments so every student knows exactly what must be practiced for the upcoming lessons. Teacher clarity helps students practice in a more focused fashion so they can improve as steadily and quickly as possible. I ensure my students get the most out of each lesson by using a variety of teaching styles and tools. Students with longer lessons (45 minutes or more) can benefit from music theory workbooks and games which I incorporate into the lessons. My goal is to make every lesson fun and challenging for my students!

Students will have the option to advance through ABRSM or ASTACAP certificate programs. Hard-working students will prepare for auditions with local youth orchestras.

I offer multiple performance opportunities each year. For the past three years I organized formal spring recitals where all my students gained the experience of playing with an accompanist in a recital hall. This past year I invited a few select students to perform in an honors recital. Another performance opportunity I offered a few years ago was a more casual Duet Day where my students and I performed duets for their family and the community in a park. Of course, these opportunities change from year to year, but the emphasis is always on giving a performance to be proud of!

It is my pleasure to recommend Amanda as a violin instructor. On very short notice, she enthusiastically agreed to help my daughter prepare for a middle school orchestra audition, even though we were not on Amanda's roster of clients. In two 30 minute private lessons she was able to acclimate my daughter to the two challenging audition pieces, address questions about technique and also taught her how to tune her instrument. Thanks to Amanda's excellent teaching and flexibility, my daughter had a great experience for her first audition.

Hi. This is Jessica H. Currently I just graduated from San Francisco conservatory of music with Masters degree. I am a very patient person who has huge passion about working with kids.I have been teaching piano over 15 years. Since I have been teaching a quite long time. I have had students who past the highest level of ABRSM exams. I can be more serious and push a student to get ahead, or simply teach to have fun - to appreciate and enjoy music. I have learned, is to expect the best, pay closest attention to the students - to what they are ready for, what they want, what they are struggling
with, and have a good sense of humor. Inspiring and developing students passion into music.

Most of the songs that my guitar students want to learn consist largely, if not completely, of strummed chords.
