Christina M.

Haskell, NJ

About Christina

Greetings! My name is Christina and I am a recent Rutgers University graduate with a double major in both music and economics. I have had over 12 years of private training in piano, with additional experience in violin, orchestra, choir and various performance-related events. Over the years I have studied with numerous pianists and incorporated many different methods and techniques that have greatly influenced my own teaching. I have been teaching music lessons to both children and adults since high school, and am comfortable teaching any age. I do believe that a solid foundation in any i
nstrument begins with music theory, and it is something I incorporate little by little into each lesson; however, it is very important to me that the learning process be enjoyable, and I strive to make each lesson as fun, inspiring, and exciting as possible!

Chris B.

Butler, NJ

About Chris

My name is Chris B. and I've been playing music for most of my life.

The best lesson that I've personally learned is that a musician is never done learning. Once you start believing that you know everything there is to know about your instrument, or that your style of playing is superior to others, then you've stopped growing musically. Perhaps you excel in one area of your playing but need further development in another. Personally, I've also learned that I enjoy sharing my knowledge of music with others and exposing students to new techniques and musical concepts.

I strongly believ
e that these traits are the most important aspects of teaching music to others. No matter how advanced my playing skills might progress, I’ll always be able to relate to any type of student because I’m still learning something new everyday!

I had my first meeting with chris today. I was feeling a bit intimidated before i met him seeing all his credentials and experience. I need not have worried. He made me feel super comfortable and explained all the nuts and bolts of guitar on my level of understanding which is very basic. He was able to relay the lesson to me in a way that made so much sense, it just clicked. I left feeling very accomplished and very much looking forward to the next lesson

Chris was such a great instructor! I first started lessons with Chris a few months ago and I told him I only had a limited time to learn guitar. Taking the knowledge I already had with music, Chris helped me in only a few months to pick up and to be able to jam to some awesome songs on my acoustic guitar. He is very patient and works very well with whatever level you come in as! I came in knowing only one or two chords, and now I know many more and can confidently play some songs! Since I was a crazy busy college student, Chris was also very flexible with when lessons were, which I was very thankful for! I'd highly recommend taking lessons with him!

I love my lessons with Chris! I have no music background and have always wanted to play the guitar but never got around to making it happen. Now as I am older I think why not now?! I looked around for local lessons and found Chris's site. I loved his philosophy of how he teaches an individual based on what they want out of it! His statement of "some people just want to learn to play their favorite song" sold me! So glad I found him! It's never too late to pick up a guitar!

Sal B.

Clifton, NJ

About Sal

Hi Everyone! My name is Sal and I'm a little obsessed with music. I play guitar, piano, and do a little bit of singing, but my strong skill is composition. I love writing new, original music and I firmly believe everyone has the ability to unlock the musician inside of them.

My approach to learning music is a holistic approach. Music is more than just notes on a page or sounds coming from an instrument. I believe that music is an experience that encompasses the mind, body, and spirit. When's the last time you've gone to a concert and didn't belt out song lyrics or danced like no one was wat
ching? We all respond to music in different yet unified ways.

I majored in music at Rutgers-Newark University and have performed with the Rutgers Chorus, Rutgers Jazz ensemble, and with various artists through freelance gigs. Currently, I am a Music Teacher in West Caldwell with the hopes to bring out the potential in my students and showing the world of music to all!

Sal was great at breaking down the guitar to the basics and explaining how the strings and chords work together. He also planned out a lesion guide that brought the entire lesion together at the end with homework to help work on the skills we practiced.
