Antonella has been teaching piano to my two daughters (ages 8 and 12) for a number of years now. They have progressed terrifically during that time and really enjoy learning from her. She has a gentle approach but also keeps the girls focused and accountable which is important. They have had multiple opportunities to perform in recitals and competitions that are always enjoyable as well. Antonella is a excellent teacher that I would highly recommend.

My 7 year old daughter started taking piano lessons this year with Antonella. I am amazed that within such a short period of time she has learned so much. She has progressed from 'Mary had a little Lamb' to really beautiful more complex pieces in what seems like no time.
Antonella is a really excellent teacher, very patient and supportive, yet constantly pushing (gently) to make the student better. She is an incredible pianist herself and really encourages Aoife not just to learn and play the notes, but to really use good movement and techniques which make such a difference to the sound of the piece.
Antonella is professional, committed, highly skilled and very passionate about what she does. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending her as an amazing piano teacher.

Daniel G.

Buffalo, NY

About Daniel

I specialize in teaching music theory and ear training to students at every level of musical experience, from the new beginner (including those who cannot read music) to the most advanced conservatory
student. For the past two years I have taught over 30 students in both private and classroom settings. This has been a very rewarding and instructive experience for me! Not only have I learned a good deal more about these interesting subjects, but the growth and success of my students has been both gratifying and stimulating.

My priority in teaching is to focus on each student's specific needs. Everyone learns at a different pace and has different objectives, but whatever the goals of the student are, I can lead him or her through each topic or skill in a clear, understandable way.

In music theory, I have taught everything from the basics (key signatures, scales, chord types) to some of the most advanced topics in undergraduate and graduate musical studies (form, part-writing, counterpoint, advanced harmonic analysis, Schenkerian analysis). In ear training, I am very experienced in assisting the student in recognizing and notating everything from single chords to complex passages of music.

I believe that proficiency in both music theory and ear training benefits anyone interested in music, regardless of their musical goals or technical expertise. It leads to a better understanding of music and hence a greater enjoyment of it, and for the musician, an enhanced capacity to communicate expressively or to compose. And best of all, it’s fun!

I am able to meet in person and willing to teach online. Please contact me if you have any questions!

Highly recommended! I took online and Skype lessons for about one year with Daniel. He is an excellent and very patient teacher. I am a pianist with no previous training in theory and ear training, but through his tutoring I was able to learn the basics of these subjects.

Very knowledgeable. Very easy & casual. Doesn't look at the watch kind of voice instructor. Understands the anatomy of the human voice. Is much experienced with the classical voice as a former singer with the Met.
