You've always wanted to learn the drums but never knew where to start. Well now you do. We start with basics of drums and rhythm and build into Rock and Country Genres. From Drum sets all the way down to small hand drums, we have you covered.

About Gabriel
My name is Gabriel. I have been playing and teaching for over 25 years both piano and Voice. As a Music Major and Christian Education major at Johnson Bible College I not only learned the skills needed to be a musician but also how to teach what I had learned.

As a Student you will find that learning to play and sing can be fun and easy. I always make my lessons enjoyable and I add humor, games and other instruments to enhance your learning experience.

I am both a musician and song writer. I have a great time teaching and work great with both Children and adults. I love it when working with people and that "Light" comes on when they realize "I really learned something." I live for those moments.

I have worked with students of all levels. I even work with children with special needs. So no matter what you would like to
do with your music, play for enjoyment, compose music, sing, for church or professionally I can help you get there.

*** Lesson Details ***
The lessons I teach are fun and educational. No matter who you are I am able to teach you.
I do not teach traditional piano. Why? Because most people are unable to play this style due to issues with eye hand coordination. The Method I teach "Chord Percussion Style" teaches a strong foundation in piano basics backed by a Strong Music Theory base. I have yet to find anyone who has not been able to learn with this method.
For voice I teach natural voice as opposed to Head Voice. This allows the student to learn to sing in a solo or group setting. You will be amazed at the difference a few adjustments can make in your voice. So as you continue your lessons with us you will see constant improvement.
On top of Voice and Piano I can help you learn to write your own music. Using the theory that you use you will learn to start to piece music together.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Keyboard - Roland Weighted Keys
Amplifier
Bongos
Guitar

*** Specialties ***
I teach Chord Percussion Style which is based on the use of chords and strong piano fundamentals and mixed with in-depth Music Theory and percussion technique. Super Fun for all ages!

I have a 100% rate of getting my students into their school of choice as of yet. Although I don't guarantee it, I will work relentlessly to make sure you are well prepared though. I will also lend you PDFs of books to help you save a buck.

About Scott
*Brief Update: Both of my 8th grade students were accepted to LaGuardia High School and my 5th grade student was accepted into Mark Twain Middle School for the Gifted & Talented. He also passed his audition for Borough Wide Band. Next up is getting my Junior in high school into All State Orchestra!*

*Update again. My student made all state!

I have been playing drums and percussion since the ripe old age of 9, in 4th grade. Originally wanting to play the clarinet, my music teacher thought my sense of rhythm was too good to waste and placed me in the drum section. I was the only kid who didn't want to play drums. Twenty years later here I am, a professional freelancing percussionist and teacher. The journey to where I am was a long and winding one but I can't imagine it any other way. After learning basic drumming in elementary sch
ool, I continued through middle school. There I was placed on drum kit and thought I was the coolest. I didn't take it too seriously but serious enough to keep playing drum kit. When choosing high schools I wasn't interested in keeping with drums. I only took marching band because it meant no gym. After my first year I was placed in every band the next three years, having to learn timpani and marimba for concert band. I was also recommended to join a city wide concert band, InterSchool orchestras of New York, and haven't left since. I still coach the band and help tons of high school and middle school students hone their craft. Also that year, through ISO, I was given a chance to attend French woods performing arts camp on scholarship where I began my love of playing in musical pit orchestras. Through this time I studied with a couple of teachers and had plenty of coachings with professional percussionists. Upon graduating I have played well over 100 different musicals, played with over 25 different orchestras, and have taught over 100 students both privately and in coachings. I currently run a Drumline out of a private school, coach ISO band, freelance and have a studio of 8 students. That is a short sample of my journey and I hope it inspires you to study with me.

If you choose me as a teacher, I will shape you as an overall musician, not just a "Drummer". What this means is that you won't just learn beats from me, you will learn all the fundamentals of basic to intermediate music theory, from note reading and rhythm to chord changes and ..... You will start on a practice pad and quickly go to a drum kit. Lessons will be half and half, but more 75/25 drumkit, because everything you learn on a pad can translate to the kit! I would also teach you timpani and xylophone if you like so you can broaden your horizons and even get into the middle/high school or college you want. I have most of my books of pdf that I can give you to print or you can purchase your own copies. You would also need to purchase a practice pad and eventually a drum kit. If you don't want to purchase a drum kit then there is almost no reason to study it since you won't be able to practice between lessons. Practicing, let's talk about that. It is expected that you practice the material we learn in the lesson throughout the week. Now I know everyone is busy, but if you can put aside 25 minutes (a sitcom without commercials!!) a day then you will have a better understanding and better retention of the material. Doing this will let us just review the material a little bit and go on to learn new and exciting things.

The bottom line in choosing me? I am a professional musician in the trenches of the nyc music scene and know what it takes to make it.

I've been teaching drums and percussion for 10 years and my students have gone on to be accepted into top ensembles, record and produce tracks of their own, and have performance careers. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play basic rhythms on the drum set, and start recognizing different stylistic patterns. You'll also develop a strong sense of time. As time goes on you'll be able to play along to any song just by listening, and even create your own drum groove to new music! I specialize in rock, pop, and funk styles, typically use Joel Rothman's drum books as well as my own PDFs. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Zachary
My name is Zach L. I am a professional musician in the Miami area. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Guitar Performance from the University of Miami. I am a multiple Downbeat-award-winning guitarist and have been drumming for the past 13 years. I have headlined multiple international tours and received both the Duncan Nelson Scholarship and the Davidson Scholarship at the University of Miami. Furthermore, I am also an accomplished composer and arranger with my works featured by groups such as the Steve Miller Band and the Henry Mancini Orchestra. Lastly, I have held a teaching position as the Professor of Improvised Music at the Narnia Arts Academy International Summer Course in Central Italy.

*** Lesson Details ***
Students' lessons are tailored to their individual needs. I don't teach out of a book (though I do use books to supplement
material when helpful), so students will only be learning what *they* need to be learning next, based on their unique blend of skill, experience, and curiosity. With that in mind, here are some topics on which we tend to focus.

Guitar Lessons:
-Proper Technique. (How to hold a pick. Proper ways to apply pressure to the strings with the left hand. Tension-free technique to prevent injury and strain.)
-Chord Formations. (Bar chords, Power chords, Open chords, Triads and inversions, CAGED system chords, Seventh chords, Advanced jazz voicing, Chords in alternate tuning.)
-Scales/Arpeggios. (Proper fingering to build technical skill. Three note per string scale forms. Conventional scale forms. Cross-fretboard patterns. Seeing arpeggios from different scale degrees. Pattern manipulation.)
-Reading Music. (One position reading. Multi-position reading. Sight reading practice. Understanding rhythmic variation. Ledger line studies. Dollahon 10th position method for sight reading.)
-Repertoire. (Songs in genre(s) of preference. Learning to play songs from favorite artists. Learn to accompany yourself if you sing.)
-Ear Training. (Hearing melodic phrases. Identifying chords. Transcription projects. Learning to "play by ear".)
-Rhythm Training. (Differentiate between different rhythms. Metronome work. Keeping solid time. Develop ability to clap/strum/pick a variety of rhythms with good time.)

*** Studio Equipment ***
Two small jazz amplifiers, five guitars ranging from acoustic to electric to archtops, and an 88-key electric piano for music theory lessons.

Zach takes the time to understand precisely what I want to accomplish with my playing, and why, and I feel that the lessons have progressed logically and quickly. Most importantly, he is a wonderful listener and patient with my ceaseless questions of 'why' and 'how'. I leave each session with greater enthusiasm and a genuine sense of accomplishment.

This is how learning should work.

There is not enough that I can say about Mr. Blackwell's teaching. Under his instructions, I have learned not only to play the bass by ear, but also I am able to read and understand music theory. Mr. Blackwell constantly challenges you to go further with every lesson. The best part of the class is the jam sessions! I love playing songs being the lead at times and a support to the band. Teaching students how to play with bands and read music are both important. I've played over 27 years and taught over 17 of those years. Grooves, coordination, reading and soloing are all aspects of what I teach from mostly my own books. I combine having fun with the commitment of practicing into a well rounded learning experience. I have recitals for students to show off their talents 1-2 times yearly. I'm versatile in teaching new drummers or advanced students. I look forward to our lessons.

About Danny
I've played drums over 28 years and taught lessons over 18 of those years. I have a background in Drumset soloing, marching band, rock bands and Troopers drum corps. Also playing in jazz, concert and orchestra bands gave me opportunity to perform and compete many places including P.A.S., scoring a 1 @ state and G.C. drum off. I took private lessons for a few years before leaving to college in Hollywood, CA, attending M.I.(Musicians Institute). With one of my instructors becoming the current drummer for Korn, "Ray Luzier". I now teach mostly out of my own books on how to read music, coordination, grooves, soloing and playing with bands. I have 1-2 recitals each year and prefer in-person lessons. If you are not local, I offer online lessons too. Accepting beginner to advanced drummers, come check it out.

Are you a beginner or fairly new to drums?
Do you want to perfect your skills without taking away the fun and musical aspect of playing?
Are you trying to get comfortable playing in a band and/or concert setting?
Then look no further!
My main focus in every lesson I give is to give my students the ability to improve their skills and communication on the instrument, all while staying focused on the music and feel.
Can't wait to hear from you!

About Marc
I am a professional drummer, singer, recording engineer and producer.

I also have experience as an intern and sound engineer, recording my own music and student projects as well!

After
a couple lessons you will know and/or have a better understanding of:

- Adapting your playing and changing your dynamics depending on the setting (Live, studio, rehearsal,...)
- Basic technique and rudiments.
- Tuning your instrument.
- Stage presence.
- Communication with other players.
And much more...
