By any nature, you should always practice on your own as well, but he will guide you to what needs to be done to further your ambition of playing guitar, no matter the age (i'm 35).

*** Lesson Details ***
All students who sign up for lessons will receive a basic fundamental foundation of musical knowledge. Once the fundamentals are understood and assessed, we can then begin to take a more in depth approach in reaching the student's specific goals as a musician. Aspiring songwriters, usually playing piano or guitar will have a different agenda than a high school saxophonist practicing for their state music assessments. Lessons are built around each student's specific interests.
It is important to know that your musical goals can be met with consistent practice, discipline, and dedication to your chosen instrument. So what is the most valuable and sometimes the most difficult skill musicians must learn and subscribe to? HOW to practice...and that will be the underlying theme to each and every lesson we share. The way we practice shapes us as musicians!
Remember that each time people hear you play or sing, you are only compared to the best there is. Smart practice makes perfect!
*** Studio Equipment ***
88 keys fully-weighted, music stand; iPad, Metronome, musical literature.
*** Travel Equipment ***
Apple iPad, metronome
*** Specialties ***
Traditional methods for all instruments; begin with fundamentals while measuring consistent application of skills learned from week to week. For piano in addition to traditional methods, I also can teach a songwriter based course with more emphasis on chord structures, ear training, and chart writing. I also place a big emphasis on HOW to practice rather than just how often.

About Natalie
Natalie's work has been heard in New York at Lincoln Center, 54 Below, The Duplex, Laurie Beechman Theatre, The Flea Theatre, and Greenwhich Music House, as well as in San Diego, LA, and Nashville. She wrote the music, book and lyrics to Home/Front which was produced in 2014 to sold-out audiences. It was a semi-finalist in the New York New Work Festival in 2016 and in currently in development for a U.S. base tour.
Other musicals include: Across a Wire (reading 356 Studios, New York, NY), Hall
Natalie holds a Masters in Music Composition and Theory from New York University where she studied songwriter and concert composition with Dr. Steven Rosenhaus. Natalie is an alumnus of the famed BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop in New York whose other alumni include Alan Menken, Robert Lopez (Avenue Q, Frozen), Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home), Tom Kitt (next to normal), and Flaherty & Ahrens (Ragtime). She also studied songwriting through the Johnny Mercer Workshop at Northwestern University with Craig Carnelia, and Andrew Lippa, Nashville songwriter Lari White, and Amanda McBroom ("The Rose").
Natalie loves working with composers and songwriters of all ages and ability levels. Please click on individual lessons to learn more.
"I took composition lessons with Natalie and looking back on my work before starting with her, it was scattered, lacked structure, needed honing. She is already a crazy talented composer herself and it translates to her teaching. Natalie is really great at asking the right questions. Why did you write this? What are you trying to say with this piece? What feeling are you trying to tap into with those chords? I can attest to writing with much more confidence and just as important, REWRITING with much more confidence. If the song doesn't work she will let you know but subsequently, she will let you know what DOES work and what to build on. Very supportive, as well as very critical, in the best possible way. It means she cares about the work you're creating. So much so that after running several rounds of rewrites by her, I completely trust the product I am putting out there. I will continue to come back to Natalie to hone my craft." -- Tristan S, composition student, New York, NY
