I add sight-reading in a book with other sources and games to learn how to sharpen your skills. Scale studies, finger patterns, music theory, and composition. I hold a spring concert every year to show off your talent!

About Mary
I started playing saxophone in 1994. It was an immediate passion! As the years went on my thirst for music grew and I picked up more instruments. No matter which instrument I play the passion is the same. I like to write and arrange as well so I feel an extreme importance on music theory. I am classically trained although my drive is always towards roots music. I try my hardest to combine those two elements.

I am currently also a freelance musician in Nashville, TN. You may see me playing various instruments in my own group “Mary & Your Choice of Sides” or other groups such as: A Man Called Stu, the Highjivers, The Bullhorn Boys, The Zimmerman Twins, The Willies, Bailey Dee, Paul Burch, Woody Pines, Art Adams, The Dead Man’s Carnival, Jane Rose & the Dead End Boys, Lane Kristian, etc.

Mary was a fun and patient piano lesson teacher. I have never taken any music lessons before so we started with the basics but she did a good job of finding the pace that I learned at. She taught slow enough for me to catch on, but not too slow to where I felt like my 30 min lessons were a waste of time/money.

Unfortunately, I had to cancel the rest of my lessons with Mary because I was becoming too busy with work to stay committed to my lessons and practice. If I ever take lessons again I'll definitely sign up with Mary again, zero complaints.

Mary was amazing teacher for me, and she really sparked my passion for music. I had really just started clarinet when I began taking lessons from her, and I truly believe one of the reasons I am going into music is because of how she made me see it. In the short time that I was able to be her student I learned more than just the fundamentals, and have yet to find a teacher that I work with as well as I did with her. If I could take up lessons with her again, I would in a heartbeat.

I spent twelve years studying classical piano under the tutorship for an classical pianist from Oberlin Conservatory, and I believe there is no alternative to become a great pianist without starting out classically. You will get a excellent foundation for technique, style, sight-reading, harmony, and repertoire than will transfer to any other genre. Beginning students will start with an excellent foundation for technique and apply these to basic repertoire, learn to read music, and play scales. Intermediate and beyond will build and improve on these skills to learn classical repertoire and more complex pieces.

About Natalie
Hi, everyone!

I'm so excited to be in Music City! I just moved to Nashville from New York City where I worked with Broadway performers and kids auditioning for some of the most competitive performance schools in the country. I'm confident I can help you achieve your music goals, whether they be learning to produce a powerful, resonate, healthy sound with your voice, becoming proficient in piano from everything from Bach to Billy Joel, or writing clear, catchy songs that will have a big impact on an audience.

Please check out my bio below and feel free to ask me any questions about lessons with the "Ask a Question" button.

Hope to be working with you very soon!

xoxo

Natalie was great with my 7 year old daughter. They worked together on warmups, and she gave her a song to practice during their off time. Natalie was pleasant, and a joy to work with! She is really great with kids.

I am accepting new private students for piano lessons. I have extensive experience teaching children and adults of all levels for 29 years. I also conducted many large projects like musicals with children and they enjoy working with me very much. I have a PhD in Music and I'm a professor at Tennessee State University.

I'm very good with little ones. They think we play on the piano while I'm doing my job. My first aim is to welcome them to world of music and share my love of music. This is very important for me as once they feel and understand music, it will have an important place in their lives.

My sessions for ages between 4-6 will be 30 minutes most but I highly advice 1 hour of lessons for older students, teenagers and adults.

About Dr. Tem
“As an artist/educator who has a childlike soul, I both feel and sense life, and reflect this through my art; teaching is the best way to share and convey this understanding to younger generations. “Revealing students’ spirits with the love of music and helping them to use it with passion while making music” is my main philosophy in teaching.”

Dr. Tem

A composer and music technologist. Composing experience is diverse and includes composing for orchestras, and composing with computers for multimedia, computer games and film. Academic, research and work experience in Music Composition, Film Scoring, Music Theory and Ear Training, Piano, E-Learning, Music Technology, Computer Music, Sound Design, Game Audio and Game Technologies among favorite areas. Teaching in institutes offering such curriculum.

Has been the Director of Music &

Dr. Tem is a wonderful teacher for any age and audience. If you only want to learn to play, then you will be satisfied. However, if you are interested in music as art and a form of expressing one self, you will find this is where Dr. Tem's ability to teach really shines through.

My 12-year-old daughter just had our first lesson. She loved it. Mallory was able to create a great balance of fun and structure that worked for my daughter. They seemed to "click," and the very first lesson ended with some assignments to be ready for the 2nd lesson next week.

I teach all skill levels and all styles. Every lesson I teach is customized to that individual student and their musical interests. I do not believe in simply teaching people how to play songs; I believe in teaching people how the songs they love are constructed, and how they can incorporate the elements of a piece of music that they like into their personal musical style so they can apply them to everything they play in the future. I use music as a lens to teach the process of learning so that you can reach a point where you feel confident in creating your own exercises to further your development.  My goal is to give you the tools to pursue music, as well as anything else, to the best of your ability without someone watching over your shoulder. That way you’re free to explore whatever it is you love the most!

About Trevor
I am a professional keyboardist with over 25 years’ experience, with training from both Berklee College of Music and Musician’s Institute. Living, playing and teaching professionally in Los Angeles for 10+ years, I have had the privilege of traveling all over the world performing with artists of many different genres, playing everything from intimate jazz clubs to arena pop shows in front of tens of thousands.

Currently, I am the touring organ player for the world-renowned punk rock band Social Distortion and am an endorsed Hammond artist. I am also the founder/keyboardist of a well-known instrumental funk trio, and have released two albums and toured across the U.S. as an original artist. Working with symphonies across the country such as the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Anchorage Symphony, and many
others while backing up special guest singers such as John Elefante of Kansas and Mickey Thomas of Jefferson Starship. I have also made several TV appearances as a guest performer on shows such as Glee and NCIS.

I teach lessons both online and in-person out of my home in Santa Monica. I own a wide array of instruments including a piano, a Hammond B3, a Rhodes Mark II Suitcase, a Hohner D6 Clavinet and a Moog Little Phatty, so we can focus on techniques that apply to any or all of those classic keyboards. I work with students of all ages and skill levels with a variety of musical goals.

I regularly play and teach in styles including rock, pop, blues, R&B, jazz, funk and classical. Having a deep background in classical piano, I competed nationally in the US Open Music Competition throughout my childhood and won multiple medals (including some gold). In addition to topics specific to the piano, I also teach synth programming/digital music creation, patch creation, MIDI programming, recording techniques, vocal coaching, performance coaching, songwriting, and composition.

I have taken lessons here and there throughout my entire life, but never really advanced much further than learning scales. With his enthusiastic and attentive teaching style, Trevor’s guidance helped me to advance really quickly! Before we even started lessons, he asked me to send him music that I liked and wanted to learn how to play, because he said I it would make me want to practice instead of feeling forced. What a great way to get your students to practice! It was so much fun! Trevor had great lesson plans and focused on music theory to truly get me to understand the instrument. Trevor really took the time to invest in me—he even went so far as to go with me to Guitar Center to help me purchase the right piano. His teaching style is straightforward and encouraging. I recommend him all the time to friends looking to learn piano and I recommend him to you, too!!

I used to play piano for 12+ years as a child. Now as an adult, I was nervous to book a lesson as it felt like a rather heavy-lift to start from scratch again. I had tried working with teachers in the past and although they were decent teachers, I never felt motivated to continue my practice/passion. Trevor, on the other hand, made it easy for me to stay committed to my goal of re-learning music; making it fun, enjoyable and something to look forward to on a regular basis. His knowledge of music theory, technique, and communicative teaching style made it effortless for me to dive right back in! Whether you're new to music, trying to re-start, or are looking to become a professional musician, I have no hesitations in recommending Trevor! My love of music has only grown since starting to work with him and I continue to follow this for years to come. Can't thank him enough!

I have been teaching children and adults piano lessons for 10 years now. I have my master's degree in music from the University of Utah. I work mainly on classical music, but we can work on any type that you are interested in learning. Students for me have been as young as 4, and as old as 65. My only criteria is that my students be able to read, count, and sit for the lesson.

About Sharon
Hello everyone,

I am a mother of a beautiful little girl, and have been teaching piano for 10 years. I have a passion for music. Music helps children and adults to learn, improves grades, focus, and their ability to express themselves. In such a busy world, it is a blessing to stop and delve into music. I want to teach children and adults to appreciate this art and make the most of themselves like I did.

I started to play right before college. I then graduated with a master's degree in music. I play flue and violin as well, but my main passion is piano. Life is short, so I want to enrich my life and yours if I can.

Over 15 years of teaching experience, offering a tried and true method of learning to play within a few lessons by ear, also offering classical or both. If you want to be able to play the piano by ear fast and effectively, our proven method of over 25 years will get you playing your favorite music in no time. I also offer classical lessons, and many students prefer to take a dual track in order to train their ear as well as their musical knowledge. I would love to propel your student into a place where they can be a life-long learner so they can always improve their musical skills, even without an instructor.

About Elaine
Hola! I have been teaching the piano and Spanish for over 10 years, and love seeing how quickly we all can learn a new skill if we just have the right coaching. I'm a firm believer in teaching you HOW to learn first, no matter the subject. Many of my students become so proficient in the art of being self-taught, they soon don't need me ( which I consider an honor!) . Whether on the piano or in the Spanish language, I know we all have the capacity for more, and I'll help you get there. I'm a mom of 2 beautiful girls and a little lab puppy. My husband and I love our kids and our Southern life! Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
