I am here to teach you at the pace that works best for you! Everyone is different and everyone likes different styles of music- I try to cater to that as much as possible. I will always set the expectation bar as high as you're willing to go.

For piano, when teaching in books, I normally go for the Faber! For guitar, various renditions of Hal Leonard, and for voice, The Rock and Roll Singer's Survival Manual. If you feel that you're better suited to learn primarily by ear or without the specific training of instruction books, let me know and we can pursue alternatives.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Great room setup for lessons with keyboard and instruments. Parents can sit in on lessons.

*** Specialties ***
Mark Baxter (Steven Tyler, Steve Perry vocal coach) method- geared toward pop/rock/country/blues.

Missy is a great teacher!

Missy has been very helpful, and I started seeing almost immediate improvement in my vocal range, which ultimately led to greater confidence. She is fun to work with and talk to. She not only gives vocal exercises and tricks, but explains the reasons for doing them, how they're going to help. I reccomend her as highly as possible!!!

Great teacher for multiple instruments

This instructor has a solid foundation in music theory which can help students of all skill levels and instrument choice...including voice. I have already benefited from her expertise on both piano and voice as instruments, as well as general music concepts like voice leading, use of scale, tonal variation and dynamic. Very easy to understand and work with. I have no reservations about recommending this instructor.

great local talent

Missy is very professional and provides some interesting pointers, (HeHe), not laughing. I expect to gain much ability from her input. I am a beginner singer, but elderly. I believe Missy will be able to extend my vocal range. I entered a singing contest last year for the first time and this is why I have chosen to get some lessons. See you on the Ryman stage in the latter part of this year.

Guitar is an essential instrument for understanding how music works. Plus, with knowledge of just a few chords, you'll be able to write your own songs!

About Kyle
Having been a musician his whole life, and a bassist since the time he was 15 years old, Kyle elected to attend Berklee College of Music on partial scholarship after graduating high school. This allowed him the opportunity to study with the likes of Whit Browne and Anthony Vitti. Summer breaks from school allowed Kyle to complete professional contracts as a working bass player, including playing in Hersheypark’s “Frontier Frenzy” (2010), Holland America Cruiseline’s “The Neptunes” (2011), and Boston’s “The Honeymooners” (2012). After graduating Berklee Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Music Education (December 2012), Kyle decided to move from his childhood home in Connecticut to Nashville, TN to further his career as a bassist and teacher.
Once he arrived in Nashville, he was immediately picked up by the Ashley Buchart Band as their tour
ing bass player. While touring full-‐time with Ashley, he also filled his days “off” by playing gigs with artists such as Stephanie Quayle, Jake Clayton, Nick Cross, and Shannon Selig. He is currently using his extensive professional playing experience as a tool to teach meaningful life and playing lessons to his pupils in the Nashville area!

My main teaching philosophy is to always have the underlying fundamentals in mind. Of course, whenever I start a new subject with my students, it is in an effort to better their playing and move them towards their goals. But while doing so, the fundamentals must always be there. After all, the busiest professional players have the best fundamental technique, precision, and musicality! Overall, though, music makes people happy because it is fun, and I never overlook the importance of that fact!

*** Lesson Details ***
The first thing I like to hear from students is what their goals are while taking lessons. Do you want to become a professional musician? Do you want to be able to play with your friends in a band? Are you looking to perform at your local church with a group of musicians? These student-specific goals will help to drive what we will work on during your lessons. Together, we can reach your goals!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide my own bass/guitar, amplifier, cables, etc. I will also have a pencil and paper, and manuscript paper. I expect the student to have their own amplifier (if necessary) and bass/guitar. They should also have pencils, paper, and manuscript paper.

*** Specialties ***
My lessons center around getting a student prepared to play professionally. I believe that the best way to play professionally is to be as well-rounded as possible. So, my lessons target a wide variety of music styles and technical abilities on the bass/guitar, all while having fun!

Kyle was great!

I just took my first guitar lesson with Kyle and he was awesome. Very patient, even when I got frustrated with myself. He taught me how to solo on the blues during my very first lesson and got me using a pick for the very first time. Kyle's lesson was engaging and enjoyable.

Playing guitar is fun!! I like to start students out learning basic chords to play along with simple songs a la The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, The Eagles or whatever genre is of interest (i.e. If you want to learn "Let It Go" from the movie Frozen then that's what we will work towards). For younger students (ages 5-9) we work on starting with simple melodies like: Happy Birthday, Jingle Bells, Ode To Joy, The Star Spangled Banner, etc. while developing right hand (picking) technique, left hand (fretting) technique and introducing concepts like playing melodies on a single string, building melodies on multiple strings and using your ear to play. With intermediate players I introduce concepts like octaves, barre chords, pentatonic scale positions, major and minor scale positions, sliding pentatonic riffs and circle of 4ths / 5ths. I also continue them with learning songs, riffs, melodies and solos by artists and bands we want to emulate like The Bealtes, ...

About P.G.
I have been playing guitar, writing songs and studying music for over 20 years. I graduated from Boston College with a degree in Music composition and theory. I am also a recording engineer and write music for TV, film and advertising. I love to teach and work with students who want to learn. Basically, I like to make music and have fun!

*** Lesson Details ***
I start working with new students by setting goals. My philosophy is to have fun and make music. Ultimately, my goal is for the student to be able to "jam" with other musicians. I picked up the guitar at age thirteen because I was inspired by Nirvana. I was quickly turned on to Jimi Hendrix, which eventually led to me discovering jazz, classical music, songwriting and eventually bluegrass. Music is a vast world and I believe in teaching songs that the student wants to play. So
I start by working on songs that are of interest to each individual student.

*** Home Equipment ***
Lessons are taught in my home. Seating for parents available. No pets. Bass and electric guitar amplifiers are provided as well as cables.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide a guitar tuner and learning materials (i.e. music sheets and learning material). I expect the student to have a guitar, bass, banjo or ukulele to play. I also advise an amplifier for electric guitar students. I am able to bring a small practice amplifier to lessons at student location.

*** Specialties ***
On Guitar: Acoustic & Electric guitar, Rock n' Roll, Blues, Jazz, Improvisation, Merle Travis chicken pickin', slide guitar and music theory. In the world of audio recording, I am well versed in Logic Pro X. I operate Logic in my personal studio to write and record music for TV, film and advertising.

I've been wanting to learn to play the guitar for a long time and finally decided to go for it. I chose P.G.B based on his extensive music background and am glad I did. He's energetic, easy going, adjusts to your likes and learning style, provides excellent feedback, and motivates you be excited about learning the guitar. I've easily memorized a handful of chords and several songs already after only two lessons and we were even jamming in the second lesson. Can't wait to see how I'm playing in a month or two from now. I highly recommend him if you're wanting to learn guitar, he's makes it easy and a lot of fun. .

Caleb has taught me so much in only five lessons! I now can play 4 songs that I love, and I'm getting a great refresher course on music theory. He's super patient and sets very realistic expectations. I really like that he cared to ask me what songs I liked and would like to learn instead of starting with generic songs like 'twinkle twinkle' because it gave me more motivation to practice and learn. Whether you're tackling singer-songwriting, accompaniment, pop/rock, jazz/funk/r&b, or even classical exercises, I can help you. I've studied piano/voice/guitar long enough to know what each kind of instrumentalist/vocalist needs. I'm well versed in a overview of all genres and styles, as well as specialized areas of study. As a writer, I'm also very familiar with coaching instrumentalists geared towards composition and arranging. If you're looking to improve your skills, I can help!

About Jake
I want to teach the material that excites students. After a handful of really crummy experiences with teachers who wanted me to learn a specific way, I stumbled across a music school in Philadelphia and a college in Boston that really got the principle of teaching what students are drawn to. Bruce Springsteen wrote, "we learned more from a three minute record than we ever learned in school." Although I don't agree with that on all occasions, there is something so special about hearing something that makes you tick and going, "ok let me listen to that again, and now let me figure out HOW I can do that myself." As a teacher, I'm flexible, focused, and also love to have fun with music. It's something that makes us excited and alive; there's no use in pursuing something you love if you don't equally enjoy the process of getting great at
it. So let's find what makes YOU excited about music, and let's figure out out to make you great at it.

Published songwriter and experienced piano, guitar and vocal coach of 4 years. My goal is to build your confidence in your craft, so you can truly enjoy what you do. In todays world of popular artists and music, I can help you hone your skills to get to a level of professionalism in the music industry. I am a classically trained musician, and have learned my way around the technicalities of music theory, but I also believe in having fun! So I will tailor our lessons to fit what style of music you enjoy, what areas you wish to get stronger in, and make sure you love what you create.

About Abbey
Hi, I'm Abbey! I'm a 21 year old musician born in Florida, having recently relocated to Nashville. I've grown up surrounded by musicians, as my family owns a recording studio in Miami. I have a folk band called "Love, Abbey", and released my first EP last year. I am moving to Nashville to continue working with producers up here, as well as work with the publishing agency I am signed with.

I am a classically trained pianist, and taught myself how to play guitar through the theory I learned with piano. Music is the most important thing to me, and I take it very seriously, but also believe in having fun with it! Classical music is beautiful and historic, but I do know that what people enjoy nowadays, is a more modern style. So I enjoy mixing the two, and incorporating classical theory in a way that makes me truly understand every instru
ment I play, and every song I write. Hopefully I can take you along for this journey with me, there is absolutely no better feeling than having a hand in the most beautiful thing on this earth- music!
