I have been teaching guitar for over 30 years and have had the privilege of studying with some of the finest guitarists in the world which include Aldo Minella, Sulaiman Zai, Javier Calderon, Dr. Lily Afshar, Benjamin Verdery and Kevin Gallagher. I also studied jazz with Berklee professor Sal Difusco and Chris Buono.

As a teacher. I have been a high school teacher for the past 20 years and am certified in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a history teacher. I have worked with all types of learning styles and test preps. As an educator, I have gone through all the background CORI checks already.

If you are taking lessons at my studio I just wanted to alert people that we have 2 very friendly English Cocker Spaniels. This is obviously important for people that have allergies to know.

Thank you for reading my profile.

I really enjoyed working through beginner/intermediate classical guitar with Gene. He was always prepared and very knowledgeable about the different pieces we were working on. He helped my technique tremendously, and structured my progress in a way I wouldn't have been able to do myself. If you are serious about wanting to learn guitar I strongly recommend getting a teacher, and if you live in the Boston area I highly recommend Gene.

I've been a writing, recording, performing and touring artist for 21 years now. I play in a national band and also do singer/songwriter solo work.
All of it came from learning how to play the guitar. I firmly believe that anybody can learn this, if they want to put in the work and effort. I guess the saying is: ''you don't work music, you play it, but it takes work to learn to play it''. Anyways, I've gathered a lot of experience over the years and still learning everyday. I really enjoy the teaching aspect of music and to make those musical connections with people. I think Keith Richards said it best when asked about the best part of being a musician,: ''you pass it on''. I will stand by that. Looking forward to meeting you!

About Lars
My name is Lars Nagel and I am looking forward in teaching you guitar. I've been teaching guitar for about 5 years. I fully believe that anybody can learn to play well, if they work hard, stick with it and has the passion for it. Because I did. It took a lot of work for me and did not come easy. It's never easy, nor should it be, because a person is learning something real and not just pushing buttons. But the rewards of getting better are fantastic, a sense of accomplishment and confidence is being built in a person as a result of hard work. And of course it's really fun and in my opinion the best thing in the world. The starting age doesn’t matter, old or young, a person can get so much out of music on so many levels.
In addition to music I also teach Swedish language, (conversation only) and Tennis. I was born and raised in Stockholm,
Sweden. Grew up playing tennis, was a competitive junior player and also played briefly on the circuit. I’ve been coaching tennis in Atlanta since 1989. I worked at clubs, swim/tennis neighborhoods and independently. While having been a touring musician I found the sports side being very complementary to it and probably kept me out of more trouble at times.

Looking forward in meeting you.

Cheers

I started learning guitar on my own. I got some CD’s. It got me started. However, I wasn’t progressing. I looked for an instructor in my area and Brian Gross came up in my search engine. I was very frustrated at first but Brian assured me it takes time and practice. It’s the little things that he teaches you that makes all the difference. If you listen to what he tells you and apply it you will amazed. Great musician, great teacher.

Brian is a wonderful, fun, and very supportive guitar teacher. He encourages students like me to practice and learn, and he gives very positive and tailored instruction. He allows his students to choose the style of music that they want to learn, and he offers the easiest and most straightforward way to learn it. He prepares his lessons very well, and it is always a joy to see his cheerful face. Even someone like me who sometimes fumbles around with the strings can feel comfortable in his great manner of teaching. I find that I have learned quite a bit in a very short amount of time, even with my busy work schedule. The guitar exercises that he gives us are fun to do and so effective. I highly recommend him as a guitar teacher, and I look forward to many more lessons with him.

Guitar lessons are a fun, laid-back, and encouraging experience for anyone to pursue. My lessons are specifically designed to accomplish the goals of the student, whether it's as simple as playing along with your favorite songs, or obtaining the musical foundation to begin writing your own songs. Former students have thanked me for being laid-back, non-rigid, and down to earth. My diverse musical background lets me offer students of any genre a fast track to learning the skills they desire, and having fun along the way as well!

About Nikolas
With 10 years of live band experience, 8 years of music composition, and 7 years of teaching guitar, I offer vast expertise and a large musical background for very affordable rates! My lessons are described by former/current students as being laid-back, detail-oriented, and very encouraging. My students range in age from 8 years old to adults in their 30's. You can always learn something new!

Most of my musical experience has entailed Rock, Indie-Rock, Blues, Acoustic, Bossa Nova, and Experimental/Contemporary. If students are looking to expand into a genre which I am not necessarily familiar with, I am always able to examine and learn the material myself in order to pass along to the student.

My students always decide the curriculum and pace which they would like their lessons to held at. I make sure to break the lesson down into simp
le, fundamental bullet points so that students do not find themselves lost or confused. Overall, my combination of friendly attitude and communication skills means that all my students get a lesson they enjoy, remember, and improve with.

I was really happy with my lesson with Ian. In the short time I was with him he managed to break down all the theory I had “known” before and turn it into something I really understood and could actually apply. I found myself listening to music in a completely new way the moment I left my lesson and was able to visualize the music itself more fully. Thank you Ian.

My approach as a music teacher is to first teach the student to relax and have fun with their instrument. I use backing tracks to help the student feel a beat or groove to a song. This is very important. Theory, technic and ear training are important but useless if the student doesn't first feel and enjoy music. We all sing along and dance to our favorite songs but in many cases, the joy goes away when we begin to actually study music. I don't want to take the joy away. First we have fun. Playing is learning.

About Mitch
Hello everyone. My name is Mitch and I hope to be your music teacher soon! I have been teaching music since 2000, I have a degree in Music Education. Music is undoubtedly my number one passion and teaching it to others is most fulfilling. I have been in various bands and musical productions and I am currently holding the position of Assistant Director of Contemporary Music at the Church in which my family attends. I don't use your lesson time as my "show off time". I expect students to practice daily and attend lessons prepared and ready to build on the previous lesson. I cherish the long term relationships I have with my students, former students and parents. I hope to welcome you into that circle and help you build the skills necessary to color your life with music.
