I offer enthusiastic one-on-one instruction in my home studio, with seating for guardian/family member(s) in the living room. Whether you're a beginner or have been playing for a while, I will work with you in order to achieve your musical goals.

About Robyn
I have been playing violin and viola for over 25 years. I hold Bachelor's and Master's degrees in music and teach assorted music courses at Pellissippi State Community College. I have taught children, teens, and adults; both beginners and continuing students. I learn where the student is skill-wise and we go from there. I also ask the student what his/her goals are, so that we have a set to-do list with which to work. Click the green button to get started!

*** Lesson Details ***
We will work at your pace--I will push you, but I am aware that everyone works at a different speed. I will learn that speed and work with you accordingly. I expect students to practice and do their best, but I also understand that life sometimes gets in the way. After a few weeks, you will know the basics of the instrument and be able to play recognizable tun
es for your family and friends!

*** Studio Equipment - Parents ***
Music room/office for instruction. Living room with seating for parents/guardians.

*** Studio Equipment - Students ***
I provide a music stand in my studio, but nothing else. Students should have an instrument with all accessories (bow, case, shoulder rest) and also a music stand at home for practicing.

You will learn posture and note reading for the alto clef. You will be guided by me through method books and I will create supplemental materials to help you advance. You will play duets with me and develop playing skills. You will learn higher positions and learn to play in an orchestra to follow a conductor. You will learn how to articulate to make the viola stand out in an ensemble. I have been teaching viola for 5 years. My students win seats in school orchestras. I want to be your next instructor.

About Mark
I NOW TEACH ONLINE LESSONS. I teach according to your individual needs. I only teach in my own studio. I do not travel anymore. I also have time to teach lessons every other week. You may inquire to me about my availability to teach every other week on Saturdays. I help you become successful on piano, violin, cello, viola, bass, guitar, or bass guitar. I help you learn the instrument and learn to read music with my own ideas using fun worksheets and songs you really like to learn how to play. I fill your voids with activities such as practice techniques, sub-lessons, and ear training. I guide you toward proper posture, tone development, and the ability to keep a steady beat. I help you develop your musical independence by tweaking lessons to help you succeed. I help you have fun learning to read music for your instrument using my materia
ls. I believe talent is not a factor in learning. Mastering an instrument is the result of effective instruction and step by step guidance toward foundations and skills. I love to teach private lessons because I believe in spreading the word to make the great gift of playing music available to many. It is an inherited right and gift to enjoy a lifetime of personal satisfaction from playing a musical instrument. I love to help students build confidence and make progress. I help them problem solve by going through problems with them. I teach "how to think" and how to become a life long learner of the instrument. I love the challenge of finding ways to help students become successful at every step of the way. I am excited and enthused to be apart of student progress. I am influenced by many 20th Century performers including Van Cliburn, Oscar Peterson, George Shearing, Erroll Garner, Yudi Menuhin, Issac Stern, Dave Brubeck, and Horowitz among others. I am passionate in my teaching about providing an effective solution to my student's needs. I am pleased to announce my teaching has awarded a cello student a spot at Del Sol music high school for the 2017-2018 school year. this student of mine passed an audition January of 2017 as a result of my teaching. The student worked very hard and followed my instruction very well. Congratulations!! I am also pleased to announce two of my cello students have both passed auditions to play in the Las Vegas Youth Orchestra starting in September 2017 and September 2018. They both auditioned during May 2017 and May 2018. Congratulations to both of you!!! I also had a violin student who passed auditions for LVA (Las Vegas Academy) a couple of years ago. I have no connection to these organizations. These students all worked hard and followed my instruction. I can help you learn as well. Recently with the development of "octave" strings, if you have been split between learning violin, viola, or cello; these strings installed on a violin or viola make the instrument sound like a cello. It is really something. They are tuned an octave below, so they sound very low. A lot of cello music will have to be transcribed for owners of these instruments installed with "octave" strings. Videos can be found on YOU TUBE of these instruments played. They are ordinary violins or violas strung up with thicker strings to sound an octave below.

I am a professional educator who works with both children and adults, and has the patience to help them. I am a performer who has over 30 years of public experience in solo playing as well as ensemble work. I have performed at Nordstrom for nine years, and performed at many private functions. I have performed classical as well as jazz music as part as my performance experience. I have taught private lessons for well over 17 years. I'm sorry, as of Summer 2016 I do not travel to student locations. I teach at my studio as well as online. If you are among the many parents who home-school your children, you should consider music lessons for them. There are many benefits of home-schooling, but unfortunately students miss out on specials. Practicing an instrument can make up for that and also teach critical learning habits and personal skills toward learning in general.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe in personalizing your approach to the strangeness of the instrument. You need to learn much about posture, and proper tone production within the first year. Method books are not "how to" books. You need a teacher to guide you toward becoming familiar with the instrument. You also need to learn how to listen to the sounds you make as you play. To develop "musical independence" you need to become musically literate, develop tone production skills, and internalize a steady beat. Rhythm and tone are basic concepts that must be mastered to maximize pleasure in playing your instrument. Learning how to problem solve is another skill I teach so you can help yourself toward progress.
I believe in using the instrument in daily activities such as playing "Happy Birthday" at family get together. Christmas Songs or Hanukkah Songs can bring much joy during December family parties.
A musician in the house brings much joy during holidays and celebrations; and the families are brought closer together. Memories are created and last forever. Playing an instrument is exciting and expresses what can not be said using words. I believe in teaching students based on their strengths, and building upon them. I am excited to help you learn!!

I only teach in my own studio and online. I do not travel anymore.

You can advance quickly if you are taught to listen to yourself and follow my instruction. I will guide you every step of the way to understand how music making works. Music lessons are fun and enjoyable. I am pleased to guide you through your learning every step of the way. My students in Las Vegas have had much success with my teaching and guidance. I will succeed where others fail. You will reap the benefits of my professional instruction. I bring a wealth of teaching experience, teacher training, and professional playing experience to every lesson. Most music store studio instructors have very little or no teacher training. Playing experience does not make one a helpful teacher. Failure to learn "how to" teach along with not earning any teaching credentials will not make a satisfying music instructor.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Grand Piano 5'1', Digital Piano 88 Keys, Violin, Viola, Bass Guitars ( 5 String Fretless), electric guitar (Fender), Upright Bass 3/4 Size French/German Bows.

*** Specialties ***
Suzuki for string instruments. Thompson, Schaum for piano. Blues, Jazz and " Real Book " for jazz piano as well as Frank Mantooth books for chords. I also create materials to suit individual student needs. Classical Piano Volumes.

I started viola 4 years ago in order to expand opportunities and get to know more about this amazing instrument, but I began teaching about 1 year ago. I am comfortable teaching beginners to advanced students, and incorporate basic music theory, note reading, and any other skills a student may require based on their skill level.

About Ava
A recent Master of Music graduate of University of Colorado Boulder, Ava began her violin studies at the age of six. During her undergraduate degree at Truman State University, Ava was a two-time Gold Medal Concerto Competition finalist and regularly appeared as concertmaster with the Truman State Symphony orchestra, where she has also held the positions of principal second violinist and principal violist.

As an active chamber musician, Ava was the first violinist in Truman State University’s President’s String Quartet, the university’s only highly competitive string chamber ensemble. She toured Italy twice with the President’s String Quartet, performing recitals in 2013 and 2015.

At CU, Ava has served as concert master and principal second violinist of the Eklund Opera Orchestra, principal second violinist of the University of Co
lorado Chamber Orchestra, and as a section violinist with the University of Colorado Symphony Orchestra. During the summer of 2016, she travelled to Italy as part of CU's "Renaissance in the XXI Century" program where she studied with Alberto Bologni and performed a wide variety of chamber music.

Ava is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Music in Violin Performance at the University of Colorado-Boulder under Professors Karoly Schranz and Harumi Rhodes. Her past teachers include Dr. Sam McClure, Julie Lundgren, and Kathy Karpicke.

Viola - the hidden gem of the strings family! As a violinist who made the jump to viola, I strive to help violists really shine in a world dominated by the violin!

About Danielle
Hello! My name is Danielle and I'm a strings teacher (don't worry - I teach the fun stuff too!). I've been playing violin since age 5, viola since age 13, and 'cello since age 18. I have Bachelors Degrees in Violin Performance and Music Education from James Madison University, and I play both Violin and Viola in Symphonicity, the volunteer orchestra in Virginia Beach.

I've taught everything from private lessons to private school to public school and am a truly passionate teacher. I currently teach general music, choir and strings at an elementary school but I love to fill my nights/weekends with private students - that's where the real fun is!

I've taught ages 4-44 and all skill levels. I take particular pride in developing technique and fundamental skills while keeping lessons light hearted and fun! It is my ultimate goal to spark
a love and passion for music in each of my students.

I always encourage students to explore music on their own and bring me repertoire that they'd like to play (from their favorite movies, TV shows, video games, etc.). Those are a great and engaging supplement to the solo repertoire I choose!

Send me a message to get to know more about me and my teaching. I look forward to hearing from you!
Musically,
Danielle

I am a professional violinist, violist and cellist. I've served as principal 2nd violinist with the Tampa Bay Symphony for 8 years. I've also played in numerous other groups like the St. Petersburg Opera, Space Coast Pops Orchestra, Bach Festival Orchestra and String Quartets for Weddings.

As a child, I wanted to be like Mozart and was inspired by cartoon and film music. So, I started composing at the age of 8.
My high-school orchestra performed and recorded two of my works.
I went on to Rollins College in Winter Park, FL in 2000 and earned a B.A. in Music Performance (viola). After graduation, I managed a violin shop for a few years and learned about string repairs and sales. I took some Suzuki teacher training in 2008 in NC and then taught at Sam Ash Music Superstore in FL for 9 years
where I wrote over 20 pop rock arrangements for st
ring quartet.
My passion comes from darker sounds but I also enjoy light and dance-able sounds as well. I continue to practice everyday because there is always something to improve upon. I'm currently doing deeper study into the Bluegrass genre because it is fairly new territory for me. It's always exciting to learn new tricks!

Dawn is an amazing performer, theorist, composer, and teacher. It is more than obvious how much she cares about her students and their progress, and that they are taken down the proper path with solid foundations. In addition to outstanding instruction on string technique, Dawn provides a level of theoretical insight that I regularly use to blow the mind of my piano teacher. Having taken music lessons from over 10 instructors for over 20 years, none have taught me as much about what makes 'music' truly music as Dawn has.

Maintaining student interest and finding creative ways to inspire students, Gwenyth aims to use culturally relevant pedagogy to inspire her students and center learning on their musical interests. During lessons, Gwenyth designs her lessons to promote creativity while providing the necessary skills and foundation to find success on the student’s chosen instrument and study of music.

About Gwenyth
Growing up in the Hudson Valley of New York, I have been surrounded by a vast amount of music and collections of artifacts from Broadway to Woodstock. After 13 years of training in jazz and classical saxophone, I began teaching strings. I continued to explore music at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montreal. I completed a rigorous two-degree, five-year program in Music and Education. My training includes studies in early childhood music education, Orff, Kodaly, Woodwinds, Brass, Strings, Percussion and Tabla. While completing my academics on schedule, I participated in multiple performing groups, represented the Schulich School of Music in student government for two years and acted as a communication and publicity agent for the I Medici Orchestra di McGill. During my time in Montreal, I was offered a teaching positio
n by the former Quebec Music Educator Association president Theodora Stathopoulos. I am now formally known as one of the founding tutors of the Viva! Sistema program in Montreal. The El Sistema concept, which originated in Venezuela but has proliferated across the world, emphasizes the ensemble, the process of learning, develops a spirit of cooperation and discipline, and focuses on social change through music. I mirror this part of spirit of cooperation and learning through a blend of techniques I leaned at Viva! Sistema with the education I received from McGill and graduate level education at Teachers College, Columbia University.

I worked in New York City public schools as an orchestra and elementary general music teacher while attending Columbia University this past year. I would use culturally relevant pedagogy to inspire students and center their learning on their musical interests and creativity. This would be showcased with concerts and social events. I would also emphasize teaching them the necessary skills to find success in and out of the classroom. They have applied mathematics to music theory, explored music in the context of history and have used music as a creative outlet by using their voice, instruments or movement. I encourage all my students to explore many genres of music and I aim to foster a community in which students help each other grow.

Every student is different; therefore there is no one method or strategy that will work universally. I create tailored lesson plans for each student taking into account age, experience, personality and learning style. Lessons can include ear training, music history, harmony, sight reading and improvisation depending on the level and goal of the student. When working with young children, I typically use games and activities and follow Mimi Zweig’s principle of violin teaching, which is based on natural physical motions nurtured in a non-judgmental environment. This pedagogy uses the Suzuki repertoire but can also be used with other books. The Suzuki method is one of the most popular in the US. This method establishes strong musical and technical fundamentals. Other methods lead to similar results and can be just as enjoyable and interesting.
For older children and adults, I choose appropriate repertoire based on their musical interests, while still focusing on technique. Typically ...

About Lidia
I was born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, and started playing the viola at the age of 5. When I was 19 I moved to London to study at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama where I attained a Bachelor of Music with Honours. Following my Bachelors degree, I completed a Master of Performance at the Royal College of Music and was awarded this in 2014.

I started teaching privately in 2010 and help students of all ages prepare for their exams (grades 1 to 8), auditions and other performances. I create tailored lesson plans for each student and teach both the performance and theory aspects in preparation for the exams. Most of my students are long-term students and have been learning with me for 3-4 years, with some up to 6 years. I take great pride in their success and my students have had a 100% success rate in the ABRSM exams.

In addition t
o teaching privately, I have also taught in various primary schools in the London Borough of Newham, teaching violin to students in years 5 and 6 (4th and 5th Grade) to take steps 1, 2 and grade 1 in the ECAM programme with the London College of Music and the University of West London. This involved designing lessons to ensure students were ready to take the final exams by end of term and varying teaching methods to ensure all learning styles were accommodated.

I have performed in New York City, London and France (including at the Merkin Concert Hall, LaMama Theatre, BBC Proms, the Barbican Centre and the Palace of Versailles) I was also invited to take part in the Philharmonia Orchestra ‘Infernal Dance’ chamber music series and was finalist in the Max and Peggy Morgan Competition run by the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London.

Other courses and qualifications that I have completed include: ‘Teaching the Violin and Viola: Creating a healthy foundation’ at Northwestern University, a Level 3 Teaching Assistant certification and a Child Protection Awareness programme.
