My first priority is to inspire and motive. Find out the students wants and needs, then tackle them head on. As we do this proper technique is a must, it is the difference between a good guitarist and a great guitarist. Music theory and understand the language of music. The better we know the language the better we can speak it. Learn songs and music is a must ...it is the reason why we play.

I want to make sure my students have a good time learning guitar but I also want to make sure they learn a lot..! I always make sure to ask my students what they want to learn and what their favorite music is... after that, I figure out what type of lessons to plan out.

About Emerson
Thanks so much for your interest in starting music lessons with me. I’m so excited to share my passion for music with you! As Lao Tzu said: “Music in the soul can be heard by the universe."

Lesson details:
My main goal as a teacher is to help my students reach their goals. If my student wants to learn how to play rock, hip-hop, and jazz drums I believe that it's my job to teach them how to play those styles..! If my student wants to get accepted into a music school I will make sure that they are prepared for an audition whether it be for orchestral percussion, jazz drums, rock drums, etc.

What students should have:
All students should (but don't have to) have a 3-ring binder to organize handouts in...!

Things that drum students should have: A drum set, drum sticks, a drum pad, and a music stand.

Recommended
books for a beginning drum student:
Fundamentals for Snare Drum by Garwood Whaley
Elementary Snare Drum by Mitchell Peters
Encyclopedia for Reading Rhythms by Gary Hess

Things that guitar students should have: A guitar, a guitar tuner, and a music stand.

Recommended book: Hal Leonard Guitar Method (Complete Edition) by Schmid and Koch.

My specialties:

Drum specialties: Jazz, Latin (Brazilian, Cuban), African, Rock, Funk, Metal, Pop, Hip-hop, R&B, Blues, Country, Reggae, and Marching. I am proficient in drum reading, drum transcription, practice techniques, and drum rudiments and their application on the drum set.

Orchestral percussion specialties: keyboard percussion (marimba, xylophone, glockenspiel, vibraphone, chimes), snare drum, timpani, bass drum, cymbals, tambourine, triangle, orchestral excerpts, etudes, technique, important literature, and practice techniques.

Guitar specialties: reading music, tablature, chords, scales, improvisation, and technique.

Whether you're the next Taylor Swift, want to rock out like Metallica, or just want to play simple folk tunes around the campfire, I'm the teacher you want! I've performed on stage and have done studio work on top of teaching on both acoustic and electric guitar. We'll cover music theory, ear training, soloing, and explore different styles of music on top of learning the songs you want to play!

About Cameron
STUDYING WITH ME:

Learning guitar should be interesting and fun! While we're studying all the different aspects of the instrument, you'll also be learning how to play your favorite songs and solos! I approach each student as an individual and structure their lessons according to what I determine they need, as well as what they are interested in musically. I concentrate on many different areas; ear training, theory, playing technique, improvisation, various styles of music, and, the physics of the guitar. Understanding how the instrument works is important in my opinion. My long term goal is to teach a student how they can teach themselves down the line. Understanding why you’re playing something is just important as knowing how to play it. I aim to give a student rich and well rounded one-on-one time!

GENERAL BIOGRAPHY:

I h
ave been teaching and performing for over a decade both in the US, and in England. I have played in various bands and have produced independent artists. I have worked for a recording studio and for various academic institutions including the Filomen M. D'Agostino Greenberg Music School in New York city.

I obtained my degree from Purchase College in New York and am a member of their Conservatory of Music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I construct lessons for each individual student depending on their musical tastes, goals, and current skill level etc. I want each person to get as much from their time studying with me as possible. Within three to six months, I'll have you working on timing, theory, ear training, improv, and songs/styles of music you may be interested in. I'm laid back, however, I expect at least the minimum practice time between lessons, which I'll change throughout the course of our time together depending on your skill level etc. Practice materials I draw up are included. I write out everything in plain English and do not require the use of sheet music!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Small recording studio, piano, various guitars, bass, and amps.

*** Travel Equipment ***
guitar, bass, laptop, digital recorder.

*** Specialties ***
I concentrate on ear training, improvisation, and explore styles ranging from pop, alternative, rock, prog, and blues, to metal, funk, and folk etc. I do not require sight reading skills for any level of student. Rather, I work with the student with theory and arrangement conventions to really understand the music. This intern, greatly sharpens their musical ear and helps them to learn music much faster because they understand how it is put together; why and how it works, etc.

***Teaching Special Needs***
I have experience teaching students who have been visually impaired,
blind, hearing impaired, or who have had mild learning disabilities. I
am also comfortable with a student bringing their service dog or
therapy dog to our lessons if they wish.

Cameron is great at tailoring the lessons to my musical taste without compromising the theory, basics and fundamentals.
I have been taking lessons for one year and will not go elsewhere anytime soon. His vast musical knowledge helps merge the theory with concrete examples. No question remains unanswered.

currently working with 10 guitar clients

About Will
I teach guitar, drums and vocals to an array of students ranging from 10 to 60. Not only do I teach but I also write songs for certain students who have a desire to perform their own music as well as learning and honing their craft on their instrument. I am currently helping a vocal student of mine write some songs after scales and warm-ups and am working with one of my top guitar students tomorrow on different scale techniques. I just placed a drum student in the finals in Alternative Press Magazine's Hit Like A Girl competition. She was the top vote getter with 1,026 votes and is in the top 10 under 18 drummers in the world. I am also working with more and more students on songwriting and showing them different chords and ways to go about writing a song. I would love to get started with you as soon as possible and we will get you where
you want to be musically. I find that if a student has a particular song or a rhythm pattern they want to learn they learn more quickly. They're learning and having fun at the same time. We will find what you want to learn and we will get it down! Furthermore, it's your choice if you would rather come to my place as a lot of my students do or have me come to your place as a lot of them do. I look forward to speaking with you! Cheers!

*** Lesson Details ***
I will get you started depending on your skill level. I usually, of course, see where we're at there and then decide what needs to be taught. With each respective student I usually make them a CDR the lessons for you so you can take them home and improve on what we've worked on.

*** Studio Equipment ***
recording equipment; guitars (acoustic & electric); bass guitar (electric); upright bass; maracas; egg shaker; cowbell; tambourine; PSR 170 64-key digital keyboard for the voice lessons.Yamaha DT Explorer for drum lessons

*** Travel Equipment ***

Will was everything I expected. I was looking for someone to teach naturally as opposed to rote (boring) learning. I'm sure Will can do rote but he did what I asked.

He really knows his music and can teach in a way that gets my son directly into actually playing music, which is exactly what I was after.

He’s really flexible and can take anything and turn it into something good.

The pace was spot-on, matching perfectly the maximum my son could understand at the time.

I think my son learnt the absolute maximum he could in that short space of time and he learned a LOT.

The guitar is a fun but challenging instrument. I teach my students how to play with proper technique, whether it's an acoustic or electric guitar. I make sure that all my students understand the basics of how to play notes and chords while also playing in proper rhythm.

About Dennis
Hello, my name is Dennis Willoner.

Music and art have always been a huge part of my life. I have been playing drums for 15 years and have been teaching for 7. I grew up learning to play drums from a private instructor, and have been studying on my own ever since. I have played in many bands in my music career and have also tracked drums in studios for local artists. Today, I currently work at School of Rock in Palo Alto as a private and group instructor, and play in a professional band called Constructs.

I have been drawing ever since I can remember. I mostly draw realistically, but also like to get on the creative side. I enjoy drawing faces and people the most out of any subject. After learning so much about art, the world can be viewed in a complete other perspective.

I have been wanting to learn drawing since I was a kid. Had a few years of drawing when I was a kid and then haven't touched in a long time. When I rekindled my interest to learn, I came across Dennis.
Honestly, the reason why I chose Dennis was because he provided at-home classes and that would avoid the hassle of me having to travel. The first few classes were more of me and him warming up to each other, as I am sure he also found me different.
He comes with all the necessary equipment and spends a few minutes giving you some basics of the stuff we are going to do that day. Then he leaves you to draw while he also draws the same. He glances once in a while at your sheet and gives you very subtle feedback. If you have missed something, he will just try to nudge you in the right direction with minor comments like "Don't you think, these are of the same darkness?, There may be more highlights in this area or the mid tones here and here are of the same darkness. etc.". He never touches your paper, but only guides you.
Sometimes when some focus is needed (for example on the eyes), he will tell you the technique involved in depth and we did one full class just doing eyes, one full class on hair.
It was a little frustrating initially for me as I was not used to the teaching technique, and now I see the point. The first drawing itself turned out be much much better than I had anticipated it to be and he hasn't touched my paper till now - so this drawing is fully mine.
You can also continue drawing and send work via text message to him. You almos t always get detailed instant feedback. The only thing is, I haven't been very diligent in doing drawings due to lack of free time. So once a week for an hour is what I do.
He also spends extra time sometimes so that he can take the drawing to a logical point, sometimes even beyond 1.5 hrs though my session is for an hour each. That shows the commitment he has to his students.
I believe my work will improve as this course continues. We have had about 6 classes and I am already seeing the difference. A long way to go, but the first steps have been right - most of it due to Dennis and his method of teaching. I would say more than teaching, it is a method of mentoring where the hand holding is done in a unique way.

About Eric
MUSIC!
I think music is the most beautiful thing in the world, so lets take time to learn and play music together.
I have been playing the drums for over sixteen years, and been in over fifteen bands in the course of that time. I have a degree in Music from the Berklee College of Music were I studied music theory and focused on Music Production and Engineering. I have been playing Piano, Bass, and Guitar for about ten years in addition to the drums, and have been recorded in sessions on each. I have a deep passion for synthesizers and electronic music, so lets make some bleeps and bloops together.

I am extremely kind, friendly, and funny so lessons with me are very relaxed and have an easy to learn environment. However I am very passionate about teaching to fit student needs; so if a student likes deadlines and homework, if that is w
hat will help them learn the best, then that is how I will teach.
Lets make some sweet music together!!

I've been playing guitar for the last 15 years and giving lessons for almost as long! I have a degree in music from the University of Miami and am currently touring out of Nashville. I'd like to think I have a fairly wide range of musical tastes (jazz, country, blues, acoustic, gypsy jazz, rockabilly, rock, etc.) and I enjoy the different challenges that each of my students bring to the table. So whether you're just wanting to strum a few old favorites at home, or if you're on your way to being a Nashville pro like me, I'd be happy to help you along your musical journey!

About Matthew
I picked up the guitar (at my father's encouragement) back in 2003 and never quite turned back! Originally from Kansas City, MO, I first got regular exposure playing in my high school's jazz band and in various other jazz groups, and was lucky enough to study extensively with local guitarists Rod Fleeman and Danny Embrey. I still make occasional trips back to my hometown to perform and record, and played on a couple of records with the KC-based group The Matt Cook Collective in 2016 and 2017.

My next stop was the University of Miami, where I attended the Frost School of Music from 2012-2016 and was fortunate enough to study with John Hart, Brian Russell, and Tim Jago I played with my first Grammy winner (multi-instrumentalist guru Charlie McCoy) and released an EP with Big City Folk Band in 2015. In between school semesters, I performe
d with country and jazz groups in Kansas City and gave lessons at KC Music, a local music store.

In 2017, I relocated to Nashville, began touring with country artist Derryl Perry, and recorded and released my first solo album, Aces. In between tour dates, I've been enjoying the task of expanding both my teaching studio and my guitar resume in this growing city.

I have also taken lessons from Gonzalo Bergara, Dan Wilson, Lorne Lofsky, Charlie Hunter, Jim Campilongo, Randy Vincent, Greg Koch, Guthrie Trapp, Brent Mason, and many more!

Update: will be at the Smoky Mountain Opry in Pigeon Forge TN in 2018!

My approach as a music teacher is to first teach the student to relax and have fun with their instrument. I use backing tracks to help the student feel a beat or groove to a song. This is very important. Theory, technic and ear training are important but useless if the student doesn't first feel and enjoy music. We all sing along and dance to our favorite songs but in many cases, the joy goes away when we begin to actually study music. I don't want to take the joy away. First we have fun. Playing is learning.

About Mitch
Hello everyone. My name is Mitch and I hope to be your music teacher soon! I have been teaching music since 2000, I have a degree in Music Education. Music is undoubtedly my number one passion and teaching it to others is most fulfilling. I have been in various bands and musical productions and I am currently holding the position of Assistant Director of Contemporary Music at the Church in which my family attends. I don't use your lesson time as my "show off time". I expect students to practice daily and attend lessons prepared and ready to build on the previous lesson. I cherish the long term relationships I have with my students, former students and parents. I hope to welcome you into that circle and help you build the skills necessary to color your life with music.

I specialize in heavy metal playing. I am a highly experienced guitarist who is fluent in practically every style. Though i specialize in classic rock and heavy metal. I have been playing guitar for 8 years and teaching for 4.
