Matt is an excellent guitar teacher. I highly recommend him.

Matt has been teaching guitar to my 12 year old son for several months now. My sons' guitar playing has improved greatly since his lessons with Matt. He's playing with a lot more confidence, thanks to Matt's influence.

Matt is always on time and has a wonderful way with people. My son feels very comfortable with him. They collaborate on songs together and it is important to Matt that Jude be engaged in his guitar practice.

We're thrilled with Matt and I highly recommend him as a teacher.
Any aspiring guitar player would be lucky to have Matt as a teacher!

About Tamara
I'm a producer, instructor, singer songwriter, sound engineer, and composer residing in Brooklyn, New York. I'm currently working on a Master's Degree in Music Production and Sound Design at The Academy of Art University, freelancing as a pianist/vocalist, and I'm working on and recording a second album.

I started singing, playing piano, and composing music when I was seven years old. Throughout my musical career, I have performed and collaborated with various rock bands, classical trios, vocal ensembles, churches, and theater groups.

My Education includes Berklee College of Music, Academy of Art University, McNally Smith College of Music, MCTC, and Full Sail University (BS and AAS degrees in Music Performance, Sound Arts/sound Engineering, Music Production).

I enjoy writing and playing classical, electronic, rock, jazz,
folk, punk, and experimental music. In my free time I like to circuit bend.

*** Lesson Details ***
When you take lessons from me expect to be inspired and pushed. I thoroughly love teaching music and want the best for my students. I try my best to involve and invite students to join or listen to live music ensembles, recitals, and performances of different genres. I teach all styles of music for voice, piano, and guitar. I am very diligent with practicing, teaching you how to practice, and keeping track of it. In 3 or 6 months you will have a basic understanding of music theory and a solid foundation of piano, voice, or guitar techniques. I thrive to boost self esteem and confidence in all the students that I teach. I also teach composition, students really enjoy writing their own songs and performing them.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a guitar. I expect students that want voice or piano lessons to have some kind of keyboard in working condition.

*** Specialties ***

As a member of of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) I am able to give your students great resources and opportunities to enter competitions.

I am also a member of New York State Music Teachers Association.

I am also a Pro Tools certified user.

Our first piano lesson with Tamara was really pleasant. She was very welcoming and attentive the whole time. I can tell my son was really enjoying the lesson. The details with the progress sheet and flash cards she provided was a plus for me. Her studio space also made the experience really great!

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
My approach is compassionate, nurturing, and collaborative. My teaching style is structured but leaves room for fun. I believe that a student new to their instrument will thrive when they:
- have a parent involved in their practice in-between lessons (parents observing the lesson is highly recommended)
- have fun while learning proper technique to avoid harmful habits down the road
- choose songs that are interesting to them while the teacher picks songs that will help them grow
- are given foundational tools and approaches to further lifelong learning as they get older

ABOUT ME
I’ve been playing professionally as a pianist/keyboardist for 15 years and teaching for just as long. I have a B.A. in Music from Cal Poly Pomona. I also write, sing, record, and produce my own songs on piano and ukulele. People th
at work with me say that I’m highly qualified, reliable, and punctual.

I am a professional pianist and piano teacher in the Greater New York City Area. I hold a B.M. from Berklee College of Music and an M.M. from Manhattan School of music.

I am very versatile in my lessons and tailor material to students' needs and preferences. Whether we are reading a classical piece, learning a pop song by ear, or improvising, I encourage you to use your ears to develop your own style.

I believe composition is an important tool for student growth. I compose original exercises and pieces for my students that target specific areas of improvement. I also encourage students to compose themselves.

Whether you are playing the piano for the first time or already have a few years of experience, you can expect my lessons to yield weekly results and to gain skills that will maximize your potential.

I got bass lessons from Fionn in 2016, and it was fantastic. He's a brilliant teacher, and extremely patient. I switched from drums so he basically had to teach me music theory and how to read music too, which he did with ease. Really enjoyable lessons that I learned a lot from, I'd highly recommend Fionn as a teacher.
