About Timothy
I hold a Bachelors of Fine Arts from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. With over 15 years of experience, in both piano and voice, I've had to opportunity to perform, both domestically and internationally, with such great acts as Peter Nero and The Philly Pops, The Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, and many others. I served as lead singer, pianist, and co-songwriter for a number of independent bands covering numerous genres including, but not limited to, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Acoustic, and A Capella.

Since moving to Washington DC, I've immersed myself within the local music community playing a handful of group and solo acts. I currently maintain a home music studio well equipped with musical instruments and music technology. I'm constantly practicing, writing, and recording to improve myself as an artist.

My teaching style
is unique and individualized to each student. I set personalized goals to make every lesson a success, and I push my students to get the most out of themselves just like I do myself. I'm always enthusiastic and humor driven to create a personable learning environment for students of any age. Music is my life, and I'm so thrilled to have the opportunity to share my greatest passion with the hope that my students, too, will fall in love with music!

*** Lesson Details ***
My lesson environment is laid back and stress-free. I like my students to feel inspired and encouraged as they begin or continue their music education. I introduce fun and innovative ways to build students' musicianship and creativity while retaining classical methods to develop strong technique and proper performance and practice habits.

For beginners, we'll be exploring the basics of either piano, or voice, while focusing on proper technique, basic theory, and a solid skill set. Within 3-6 months, my students are able to read music and understand the language of it.

For intermediate-advanced, we'll focus on building musicianship and skill sets by furthering studies in music theory, varying styles of repertoire, proper techniques that will greatly improve your piano and/or voice abilities, songwriting, improvisation, and live performance skills.

I ask that my students come prepared to every lesson with the motivation and commitment to learn something new each week! Lessons are a fun and creative way to discover yourself as an artist and a person, so let's get started!!

Although trained in standard teaching methods, he has developed his own method of teaching to positively enhance the student€™s strength, dexterity, ear-training, memorization and techniques. His goal as a teacher is specifically designed to help you achieve your goals as an artist and a musician.

This year Jason was also the Music Director at the National Guitar Workshop Day Jams Rock Music Day Camp where students ages 7-15 came out to form bands, record original material and master their craft. He also taught beginning to advanced guitar/ vocals/ performance and songwri
ting as hosted a recording clinic at the end of each day.

Jason has host student showcases/charity benefits where his students were able to get on stage and show off their new talent and perform with other musicians. It wasn't mandatory though, if you were just looking to come out and support there was no pressure other than to come out and have fun.

Jason has been transcribing for guitar and bass since the age of 18 and since then has become a master of the craft including both 5 line staff and tablature, hand-crafted exercises and deconstructions to better enhance the students learning. Artists and genres that Jason has experience with range from Classic Rock, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Guns N' Roses, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Robert Johnson, Pierce the Veil, Paramore, All Time Low, Demi Lava to, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold, The White Stripes, Green Day, Old Crow Medicine Show, Taylor Swift, Mumford and Sons, Bruno Mars, Rob Zombie, John 5, Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine, Van Morrison, the Beatles, AC/DC, ZZ-Top, Bullet For My Valentine, All That Remains, Ozzy, Black Label Society, Sublime, Aerosmith, At the Drive In, Type O Negative, the Black Keys, the Pixies, the Toadies, Black Sabbath, Jason Mraz, Lady GaGa, John Mayer and Journey.

He is constantly continuing his education with music theory courses as well as private guitar instruction. He attends guitar workshops and seminars by artists such as John5 and Kerry King who are known as some of the worlds finest guitar players. He reviews every day from a wide range of over 1000 sources working to become a better musician and instructor.

Another nice feature that you might enjoy from one on one sessions with Jason is learning the ability to craft and record your own songs using state of the art technology that caters to your own unique personality. There are no limits!

Jason teaches all experience levels from beginner to intermediate and advanced as well as artists that are signed to labels.

We feel that we totally lucked out with finding Jason who is a complete gem! He showed up on time and quickly inspired my son with the drawing lessons by having him draw Superheroes! So my son is having a great time with Jason who has a great way of giving feedback and steering Cody using a balance of instructions and positive feedback. Cody is definitely enjoying his lessons and I am seeing real progress. I feel like I did the right thing investing in these lessons and giving Cody a great summer with a wonderful instructor. I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you Jason for being so great at what you do!

Lessons in classical violin by a classically trained violinist. I spend my days working at The Recording Academy managing artist and industry relations and play professionally at night. Previously, I worked at Carnegie Hall developing online music learning resources for young musicians. I teach all experience levels from beginner to intermediate and advanced.

I attended Hunter College - CUNY where my degree is in Music Education. I pursued post-graduate work as a DeHann Fellowship recipient at Indiana University - Jacobs School of Music where I studied with Henryk Kowalski, Mimi Zweig and Federico Agostini, and focused specifically on String Pedagogy and Violin Performance. I have continued to pursue courses in string instruction, most recently in the Irish fiddling tradition.

My role as a teacher is to provide support, encouragemen
t, and awareness in each students musicality and creativity. Through my teaching, I want to lead each student to be the best they can be as a musician. Through classical training, I provide students with a solid technical foundation with intonation, sight-reading, and musical phrasing to create a canvas for them to explore music in different ways – improvisation, musical genres, different styles of playing, etc. From a violin technique standpoint, I observe each student’s temperament, quality of tone, bow arm, left hand technique, and general playing style, and find what can be improved upon. At the end of the day, I want each one of my student’s to have developed a healthy sense of musical self-esteem, and ignite their passionate interest in creating music.

About Mikayla
I started my formal music education at just three years old. That early education was invaluable in training my musical ear, and I now have excellent pitch. I started my extensive training in vocal performance at the age of 8, and have been trained in classical, opera, and musical theater in both legit and belt/mix. I have performed in over 30 musical theater productions and two operatic productions. Some of my favorite credits include La Carlotta (Phantom of the Opera), Eliza (My Fair Lady), Mrs. Potts and The Wardrobe (Beauty and the Beast), The Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute), and Fiordiligi (Cosi Fan Tutte).

As a youth, I performed with the Utah Children’s Choir and Pleasant Grove Jr. High’s choir. I then went on to perform with the award-winning Pleasant Grove Chamber Choir while in High School, and the BYU Women’s Chorus in
college. I competed in NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) from 2008-2014 and placed each year in both Classical and Musical Theater Legit. In 2013, I competed in the Classical Singer Competition in Boston and placed in the top 10 in the nation. In 2011, I was asked to perform in the Tour of American Young Artists to China. I performed in Beijing, as well as several outlying Chinese cities.

As well as singing, I am an accomplished flutist, and I enjoy playing the piano. I love to draw, sew and craft during my free time. I played Volleyball in high school, was on the swim team, and I absolutely love horseback riding.

I have an outgoing personality, and am excellent at helping others feel comfortable. It is my goal to not only help you learn to sing, but also to feel comfortable performing for others. I absolutely love singing and performing myself, and I am excited to help you reach your musical potential!
