Ukulele is a fun beginner instrument and is easier on the fingers than guitar, but it can also be used to play any kind of music, no matter how unlikely or complicated. I play jazz on them sometimes, and there are countless videos on YouTube of uke players attempting heavy metal and actually pulling it off.

About David

I am a 32-year old Massachusetts native and have been playing music since I was 8 years old, starting on the piano with a wonderful teacher in Beverly who also went to Berklee. I picked up the guitar and the bass in high school and got into rock, jazz and blues and haven't looked back. I received

"Showing the world there are more songs to play on the uke besides Somewhere Over the Rainbow, I'm Yours, & Riptide."

I have played ukulele for 9 years and spent 3 years in college singing & playing on State Street in Santa Barbara. My teaching style focuses on using tab notation. I think it allows players to be more creative in altering chords & progressions, instead of defaulting to basic ones like "G, D, Am, C."

I still start with basics (depending on experience level) but eventually I move on to unique chords, strumming/percussive patterns, & embellishments that turn the ukulele from a "toy" into a powerful instrument.

About Nico

UC Santa Barbara Grad. I am a singer that took on the ukulele 8 years ago. Over the past 3 years I have played throughout Santa Barbara performing local gigs & busking on State Street. Ukulele Lessons: I like to challenge the preconception that the ukulele is a "toy" and expose people to wh

Nico was recommended to me two months ago and I am very glad I reached out. I already feel more confident knowing what to listen out for when singing. He also taught me a couple songs on ukulele so I can accompany myself. Cool teacher & fun jam sessions!

When I give a lesson I start with fun warm up exercises. Then I work on repertoire that I let the student pick or if they feel uncomfortable with that I will select pieces catered to them. If a student is interested I can delve into things like theory and sight singing. The whole name of the game is to explore the beauty and love of music ❤️

About Erika

I’m an experienced teacher with a wealth of experience both performing and teaching but my best quality is connecting with people and really making the lessons an experience rather than a chore. Music should be fun! It’s changed my life and that’s what I’d love to share with everyone 😊

I have taken lessons from her on and off for about 5 years. She is amazing and really knows how to connect with you to find your interests and she listens. She doesn’t force you to choose a genre and she offers things like theory and also has a lot of fun tips, tricks and warm ups. I started lessons with her during my junior year of highschool and have continued since graduating. I’m now recording an EP and will be putting my music out on Spotify ❤️ If you want to learn and have fun doing it, she’s amazing.

I've known Erika since her freshman year of college at VCU. She is a talented, dedicated, devoted, and passionate musician and educator. How to Tune a Ukulele

Thanks to its refreshing island sound, the ukulele is becoming an increasingly popular instrument. However, if you don't know how to tune a ukulele properly, its sweet tropical notes can start to go sour fast! Luckily there are several easy methods of tuning that you can use to ensure your ukulele always sounds top notch! In standard tuning, a ukulele's strings are tuned to the following notes: G on the fourth string from the bottom, C on the third, E on the second, and A on the first or …
