About P.G.
I have been playing guitar, writing songs and studying music for over 20 years. I graduated from Boston College with a degree in Music composition and theory. I am also a recording engineer and write music for TV, film and advertising. I love to teach and work with students who want to learn. Basically, I like to make music and have fun!

*** Lesson Details ***
I start working with new students by setting goals. My philosophy is to have fun and make music. Ultimately, my goal is for the student to be able to "jam" with other musicians. I picked up the guitar at age thirteen because I was inspired by Nirvana. I was quickly turned on to Jimi Hendrix, which eventually led to me discovering jazz, classical music, songwriting and eventually bluegrass. Music is a vast world and I believe in teaching songs that the student wants to play. So
I start by working on songs that are of interest to each individual student.

*** Home Equipment ***
Lessons are taught in my home. Seating for parents available. No pets. Bass and electric guitar amplifiers are provided as well as cables.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide a guitar tuner and learning materials (i.e. music sheets and learning material). I expect the student to have a guitar, bass, banjo or ukulele to play. I also advise an amplifier for electric guitar students. I am able to bring a small practice amplifier to lessons at student location.

*** Specialties ***
On Guitar: Acoustic & Electric guitar, Rock n' Roll, Blues, Jazz, Improvisation, Merle Travis chicken pickin', slide guitar and music theory. In the world of audio recording, I am well versed in Logic Pro X. I operate Logic in my personal studio to write and record music for TV, film and advertising.

I found P.G. to be a very nice and personable teacher who wants to help you meet your goals. He is a very talented yet humble individual. I enjoyed our time together getting to know each other and discussing my goals. I feel he will make me a much better banjo player. I like his attitude and teaching methods. I look forward to many more lessons. By the way I am driving almost two and a half hours each way for my lessons. I am very serious in my quest to be a better banjo player and I feel I have found someone who will help me achieve my goal. Thanks

He's energetic, easy going, adjusts to your likes and learning style, provides excellent feedback, and motivates you be excited about learning the guitar. I've easily memorized a handful of chords and several songs already after only two lessons and we were even jamming in the second lesson. Can't wait to see how I'm playing in a month or two from now. Whenever I see a drummer play a little thought bubble pops into my head
"that's where you want to be!".
Since age ten, that's been the move; go on stage, or anywhere there's a drum kit, and play.

I'm a touring, studio drummer, drum teacher maniac who loves sharing new musical ideas. I've studied with Dom Famularo so motivation and technique are in these bones.

With me you'll learn how to really groove on drums. You'll get faster. You'll learn songs. We'll get your fills sounding nice and fresh. And you'll learn to read!
Yes! You can do that too! And it's really fun!

If you're ready for the challenge then take this exciting journey with me and fall in love with playing the drums!

About Melanie
I have been giving voice lessons for the last 10 years. I have taught from elementary school students to adults, new/fresh beginners to intermediate. I am a great encourager and am eager to see you grow in your talents and abilities. I have been singing in church choirs and receiving private voice lessons since I was 6 yrs. old. With a BA in Music, I graduated from William Jessup University, emphasis in voice. From there I went on to teach at a Music Academy and then a music focused college known as "Instituto Canzion". I have received additional instruction from classes and private lessons at Musician's Institute located in Hollywood, CA and continue to gain teaching techniques from many different professors. One of my main goals as a teacher is to make sure you are constantly growing and being challenged. As a teacher I hope to provide
specifically for each students need. I have experience with instructing for pop, rock, indie, country, musical theater, and contemporary christian genres. I have worked with choir pieces as well as solos and duets, and have spent some time in recording studios, Coaching vocalists as well as doing some recording of my own. My desire is that every student would feel comfortable sing/performing
in front of an audience while having fun, because that's what it's
about, after all, that feeling of accomplishment after you've worked so
hard. So let me help you to feel confident while performing and have a great time!

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching style is somewhat laid back. I always tell my students, "You will get out of these lessons only as much as you are willing to put in." I can be strict if that helps a student, but I try to work with each individual at a pace that works best for them. I do challenge my students to reach and push themselves to what I know they are capable of. One of the first things I will do in a lesson is to set a personal goal with the student. This helps to have something to work towards. In lessons I will focus on areas like correct breathing, posture, relaxing tension, vowels, pitch, pronunciation, performance, and others. These are some of the areas that should definitely show noticeable improvement after 3-6 months. Other things like vocal physiology and ear training will be implemented as well as some sight reading. In the end it's really all about what you want to learn. I don't claim to know it all, but I am a life long learner and am continuing to better myself through further education.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Keyboard, Mirror, Recorder, Music stand. The student needs to provide their own flash drive to download lessons.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have a keyboard and a recorder, but I need to be informed as to whether I need these items or not. The student needs to provide his or her own flash drive to download lessons.

*** Specialties ***
I mainly teach Pop, Country-pop, pop-rock, Musical theater, Christian and contemporary genres.

Hola! I have been teaching the piano and Spanish for over 10 years, and love seeing how quickly we all can learn a new skill if we just have the right coaching. I'm a firm believer in teaching you HOW to learn first, no matter the subject. Many of my students become so proficient in the art of being self-taught, they soon don't need me ( which I consider an honor!) . Whether on the piano or in the Spanish language, I know we all have the capacity for more, and I'll help you get there. I'm a mom of 2 beautiful girls and a little lab puppy. My husband and I love our kids and our Southern life! Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

About Sam
A native of West Hartford, CT, Sam Merrill is a 2014 graduate of William H. Hall High School. During his time at Hall, he was a part of the school’s esteemed jazz program, where he played lead trumpet in John Mastroianni’s Concert Jazz Band. Hall’s show, “Pops ‘n Jazz” allowed Sam to work with musicians like trumpeters Tony Kadleck, Michael Mossman, Scott Wendholt, and Jeff Holmes, saxophonist Joel Frahm, pianist Joyce DiCamillo, and many others. Throughout middle and high school, Sam studied privately with Nancy Brown, a renowned trumpeter in the tristate area who helped Sam build a strong foundation on the instrument.

Upon graduating high school, Sam moved to Danbury, CT, where he pursued and obtained a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies at Western Connecticut State University. At WCSU, he studies privately with Dave Scott, and Jumaan
e Smith (lead trumpet player for Michael Bublé and Harry Connick, Jr.). He also held an eight-semester tenure of the lead trumpet chair in the school’s esteemed Jazz Orchestra under the direction of GRAMMY nominated jazz saxophonist Jimmy Greene, and guitarist Jamie Begian; both unbelievable talents and inspirations. Thanks to WCSU’s annual Jazz Festival, Sam has been fortunate enough to share the stage with the likes of pianist Kenny Barron, tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano, and most recently, vibraphonist Stefon Harris.

Over the years, Sam was also fortunate enough to build a relationship with Los Angeles studio legend Wayne Bergeron, who has helped further develop his abilities on the trumpet.
A May 2018 graduate of WCSU, Sam just touched down in Nashville, TN, hoping to continue a career as a trumpeter, teacher, composer, and arranger.

Visit me online at SWMerrillMusic.com! I look forward to working with you.
