I have performed in several musical's: Music Man, Superman, A little night Music (quartet), Sound of Music, plus many variety shows. I like teaching musical theater pieces because it helps to bring out the acting part of singing and requires a beautiful round tone, which is good to have in anyone's repertoire.
I started taking piano lessons at age 6, learned to read music and play mostly classical, my first pop song was Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves by Cher, remember that great riff at the beginning? I was beyond thrilled to actually play it myself. These are the kind of experiences I seek to provide my students, enjoying the thrill of actually making music, not just going over mundane head information. I do combine learning by ear with reading music, teaching theory along with the music making as well. Music is really simple, repetitive and easy to learn. It's a life long gift you give yourself and others. I started singing seriously in 9th grade, I had the greatest teacher, in fact he turned my life around because I had been running with the wrong crowd, but now that he told me I could ...
I often wondered how singers sang. So I took the journey, and learned. I attended California Polytechnic University, Pomona and got started on the road to learning how to sing. I continued the journey at Arizona State University in their Masters of Music graduate program. At that point I had some skills and landed a job with Sesame Street Live as the Character of Professor Art, travelling the country singing and dancing with the Muppets. Then I landed in Las Vegas where I performed for people from around the world as a Gondolier. I have also had the pleasure of performing in foreign languages in the Operas "La Boheme" and "La Traviata". Learning to sing is not an over-night thing. It takes time. But if you want to start the process, let me share my experience and knowledge with ...
Professional Broadway singers perform everyday of the week. Prepare healthfully for the rigors of the profession.
All of my past experiences lead into my real passion: Teaching. Whether it's conducting throughout Europe or singing as featured soloist with the Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra and Oregon Symphony, I use past experience to teach students about musical and healthy singing techniques. I am currently a Doctoral candidate at UNLV. I am excited to incorporate new instructional techniques into my teaching that I learned from conventions and coursework. Most of all, I believe that singing should be a fun expression of yourself. It should be an outlet for creation no matter the skill or age level of the singer. I hold a Master of Education degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where I specialized in Secondary Vocal Music. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (Vocal ...
Reading the detailed "About" section below should give an aspiring singer all the information relevant as to how and what I teach, with regard to vocal performance and technique. As a lover of Broadway, then and now, I incorporate my knowledge of what is necessary to perfect the craft of being a confident singer on a theater stage. To capsulize my mission statement as an instructor: You WILL be a better vocalist AND performer. THIS I GUARANTEE!!
I have been active in the entertainment industry since the age of 12, when I gave my first professional performance. Prior to that I was already being introduced to music with years of guitar, and then vocal instruction. I do not remember a time of my life when I was not singing somewhere; in the house, in the yard, in the classroom. That is perhaps why I identify so well with the young people who gather so much enjoyment from "just singing" at every opportunity. I studied professionally for over 10 years with renown soprano and voice teacher Sylvia Jensen, who was instrumental in the enhancement of my vocal knowledge and technique. She is now the Director of Education for the Miss Ohio pageants of the Miss America competitions, elevating many young ladies to the national spotlight. At ...

Like many of my friends in high school not knowing what direction to take in life, I chose to take a business career path instead of one of a starving artist. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Cal State Fullerton, a Masters from UC Irvine, and have had much success working for several Fortune 500 companies. However, my love of music always surfaces. And now that I have the resources and ability to spend more time having fun and enjoying life, I choose to spend some of this time teaching and helping students find a love for music. Music has always been an important part of my life. I've had piano lessons since 6 yrs of age and been the lead tenor in many show choir and vocal performing groups. Since 2005, I've been learning the guitar from many local Las Vegas artists ranging from lounge
Singing in "broadway style" can mean everything from highly traditional, to incredibly modern.
I've sung it all, and performed it all. I've been doing this for over 16 years as a performer and a teacher.
I will will listen to your natural strengths as a singer, and help you mold them into the right style for your performance goals.
I will show you how to "belt" without blowing your voice out, and also help you create that special softness in your voice for those more delicate moments on stage.
I'm proud to have been performing and teaching music for over 15 years. I am a diverse teacher and performer, and have performed in both musicals and operas myself. In addition to my 16 years of teaching experience, I also perform and audition CONSTANTLY. I believe that studying with a teacher who is also performing is critical, as the skills I am passing onto my students come from real experience. As a voice teacher, I believe in getting the most out of your vocal instrument, while also protecting it. The voice is fragile, and it's important to learn how to make it work well, while caring for it at the same time. My focus is on solid fundamental technique, with emphasis on posture, breath support, and placement of the sound to fit the desired style. I also strongly believe
