While at WVU, Elizabeth resumed taking lessons at the piano, which she had previously studied for many years, and exceeded the piano proficiency level required by the university. She also holds a B.A. in music and international studies from Emory University. Elizabeth has studied and performed internationally, both at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, where she was the recipient of the Lemmonds Scholarship, and at the Bel Canto program in conjunction with L'Arena di Verona opera company in Verona, Italy.

*** Lesson Details *** I am a fun, enthusiastic teacher who cares deeply about her students and their growth as musicians and people. I believe teaching works best when students are relaxed, having fun, and are actively engaged in the learning process. Musical skills depend upon muscles, so it is important that you practice what we work on during lessons at home if you wish to see real progress. I will work hard along with you and ask for your input during lessons; we are partners in the learning process.
My specialty is the voice. I teach classical vocal technique with an emphasis on the body-mind connection. Through the course of my training, I have studied the Alexander Technique, which is a method that has been used by actors, musicians, and athletes to find optimal body-mind coordination to achieve better results. The voice is the only instrument that is literally your body, so we will be using these tools to improve posture, breathing, and resonance. By learning a healthy vocal technique, you can expect improved tone quality, an expanded vocal and dynamic range, greater resonance, increased agility, improved diction, and more. Healthy vocal technique can be applied to any genre, but I work mostly with classical and musical theater repertoire as this is my area of expertise.
I am also an established piano teacher and have had much success teaching beginning and intermediate students from ages 4 to 91 in various styles of music. I believe it is important for students to learn how to read and interpret written music as well as understand the structure behind it, so in addition to learning musical basics, I incorporate music theory into lessons. I encourage my piano students to learn how to read lead sheets and create chord accompaniments as well, which opens the door for comfortably playing in all sorts of styles sooner than would be possible by classical approaches alone. I also work on improvisation and songwriting with my piano students.
Whichever you choose to study (voice, piano, or both), I tailor lessons to suit each student's needs. I would like to enable you to meet your musical goals, whatever they may be.
***Lesson Recommendations*** I highly recommend students sign up for weekly lessons, and do not reserve recurring times in my schedule for non-weekly students. In addition, although lesson length recommendations may vary depending on individual students' learning style, here are some guidelines:
Find your mix, learn to belt in a healthy way and build your repertoire with lessons in Broadway singing.
I'm excited to get to work with you! I have been playing piano since I was 14. I am also classically trained singer. I want to make sure I can teach you everything you want to learn about music and how to perform! Music isn't just about fundamentals, it's about FUN!
*** Lesson Details *** I have 3 rules to lessons. 1) Take your time. I know you want to be a star tomorrow but that takes time! I'll make sure you have all the skills you need to do it. 2) Practice makes perfect. It's important because everything you learn will apply to what you want to do with music. 3) Have fun! As cliche as
that sounds, it's the most important rule. If you're not having fun with music then it takes away the joy of learning. I look forward to teaching you soon!
*** Studio Equipment *** Practice Room: Weighted key piano Church: Weighted key keyboard.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in Jazz and Gospel Piano. My vocal repertoire ranges from Baroque to Contemporary Classical, Jazz, Popula Music and Musical Theatre

Garrick is truly amazing. He really simplified things for me as an adult learner. I had always had raw talent, but he really helped me with breath control and harmony - things I never learned as a child. His theatre background also really helped me with performance techniques. He showed me what to do with my face, hands, body to truly emote the message of my songs. He is truly anointed :)

Garrick is a wonderful singer and a terrific person. He is a highly trained and dedicated professional with the talent and ease of a natural musician. His vitality and engaging manner bring music to life! I give him my highest recommendation as both a performer and teacher.

In the time that I spent under the Instruction of Mr. Morgan, I have learned so much. He is a great teacher that genuinely cares for his students and their success. During the time That I worked with him in my school's rendition of Fame the musical, he taught me so much about acting and truly becoming a character, as well as singing, he taught me various techniques that not only strengthened my voice but perfected it; giving me the confidence I needed to perform in front of a crowd. It is because of him that I realized my true passion for musical theater.
I've been teaching singing for 30 years and Broadway singing for the last 15 years. My approach is to ensure the student is using excellent technique while singing. You will expand your repertoire as well as improve your technique and artistry. Lessons begin with vocal technique and move on to singing songs.
I have been singing for as long as I can remember. It is my very favorite activity. I have transformed my love of singing into a career.
I have been teaching music lessons for over 25 years. When you study with me you will have the advantage of that experience. I have extensive experience teaching students of all ages. Throughout my teaching career I have taught students with varied backgrounds and diverse needs. If you are a person who was told not to sing by your music teacher, don't give up! I have taught many children and adults to match pitches and improve their singing voices.
I earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Moravian College and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Temple University. While at Temple, I studied standard vocal repertoire and Early Music. I have also completed graduate courses in Early Childhood and Elementary Education at West Chester University.
I served on the faculty of Suburban Music School for 17 years where I taught voice, piano and recorder lessons. I also directed the Children’s Choir and the Women’s Choir. I was formerly on the faculty of Delaware County Community College where I taught courses in the Music Department; and of Temple Music Prep where I instituted, developed and maintained a vocal program at Temple University’s Ambler Campus.
In addition to teaching I was employed for eleven years as a chorister at Christ Church Christiana Hundred in Greenville, DE where I have had the opportunity to sing for such notable conductors as John Rutter, Sir David Wilcox, Sir Philip Ledger, Stephen Cleobury, and James O’Donnell. Previous choral work has included singing for Dr. Ifor Jones and for Michael Korn. I perform in solo and chamber music recitals throughout the Philadelphia area and in Cape May, NJ and with a Celtic group called Celtic Women and Friends.
*** Lesson Details *** Voice Lessons
When you study voice with me, you will start with the basics - posture, breathing and tone production. If you have studied before, we will review these areas and brush up on anything that needs work. The next step is to learn some vocal exercises to warm up and develop your voice. When the exercises are going well, we will begin to work on songs. You will need to learn some classical songs because they help to develop your voice, but we will also work on the kind of music you like best. In addition to songs, we will work on solfege (do, re, mi, etc.) which helps to train your ear and to improve your sightreading ability. If you don't know how to read music I will teach you that. If you read music but have some gaps in your knowledge, we will fill those in.
I teach what is called bel canto (beautiful singing). It is a healthy vocal technique that will help you avoid vocal problems. When you learn to sing with this technique, you can sing any style of music you want. After a few months of study, you should be able to tell that your voice is growing stronger, that you have better breath control, and that your range is increasing.
Although I have high expectations of my students, I am relaxed and friendly. If you love to laugh, we will enjoy that together!
When you study piano with me you will enjoy playing a variety of songs from your lesson book. As you advance, we may add a repertoire book which increases the number and variety of songs you play. There are many excellent piano methods. I use different methods for different students, depending on their needs.
Lessons will include posture and proper hand position, warm-ups, songs and music theory. Music theory is the study of notation and how music is put together. You will have a workbook with exercises for this study. If there is a particular style of music you would like to play, we will look for music at your level to add to your lesson. After a few months of study, you should know how to read basic notation and be able to play a number of songs. You will also have increased your knowledge of musical notation and harmony.
I expect my students to practice in preparation for their lesson every week. I am relaxed and friendly, so that should help to put you at your ease.
*** Studio Equipment *** Piano, music stand, stereo equip, seating for parents
*** Specialties *** I specialize in teaching the bel canto style singing. With this technique, a person can sing any style of music she or he chooses.

I am currently a naval officer nearing retirement. I wanted to try stage and film acting and contacted Corbin because I had no experience. Since I began working with Corbin in March 2015, I have been cast in a play, The Graduate, and a musical, Dogfight, and have auditioned for TV episodes and short films. For The Graduate, Corbin provided a safe, interactive, one-on-one, and encouraging atmosphere. This was important for me because I did not want to be doing this for the first time at my age in front of a class of college students. As I had never done this before, Corbin was able to draw upon his decades of experience to not only help me in reading my lines and develop my character but also mentored me on what to expect once on the stage and cast and crew expectations for me. For my musical audition training, I regard Corbin as a subject matter expert. It has been approximately 25 years since I’ve done any formal choir/music training and Corbin was able to immediately identify areas in my singing that required work. He had me work on vocal exercises and breathing techniques all of which helped increase my range and increase my confidence when singing in front of a room full of people for the audition.
Corbin is an outstanding coach and mentor! He uses his on-stage and in front of the stage experience to help the actor develop their character and he won’t let the actor deliver any performance that’s less than their best. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, he likes to have fun during lessons. I’ve been with him now for seven months and I’m excited to work on future projects with him!

Corbin has been the best acting instructor I ever had. He is very professional and has helped me a lot with being able to bring out emotion required for acting. Allowing me to be a more Realistic Actor than Naturalistic. Corbin is very fun and funny, as well as a great motivational teacher. I also have him to thank for casting me in a play that he recently directed. It has been a true pleasure to have been working with him and learning from him and I am very excited to continue doing so.

William is experienced in voice from Opera to Musical Theater. He has a good ear and is an excellent accompanist. He's been providing the feedback necessary for me to develop my voice in new ways. And he's pushing me to expand my comfort zone, which I think is good! I'm enjoying these lessons immensely.

"Melissa has been beyond helpful and informative as an instructor. I've taken 3 lessons so far and I can say that I see a big difference in my singing in s
uch a short amount of time. Before taking lessons, I thought I could only learn how to sing in my "head voice" (ex. Phantom of the Opera) but when I started taking lessons with Melissa, she helped me discover my "chest voice". It really amazed me on how much she can pull out of you!
I can also say that each time I take a lesson with her, I regain a higher amount of self confidence. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better instructor!
Thanks a million Melissa!"

"Corinne is amazing! I have been studying voice with her weekly for about two years now, and my musical theatre callback and booking rate has multiplied so
much since before I started with her. She is so friendly and accommodating to my crazy, unreliable schedule. She always manages to fit me in when I need to see her for audition prep etc. She has also helped a lot on the business end of things with helping me create/work on my Book. She is wonderful at pinpointing what needs to be worked on most individually with her clients and letting that be an area of focus, while still making sure to give a full lesson with everything you need. For me, my weakness when I started with her was my mix. Now, two years later, at the last musical theatre audition I had (which I booked) I was complimented by the musical director about how nice my mix was. I definitely credit Corinne for that! I would highly recommend Corinne to singers of any level! Whether new and wanting to learn how to carry a tune, or professional singers looking for a good vocal workout, she is your lady!"

progress! Sandra's level of patience and her ability to teach while making it fun has helped my daughter tremendously! She has more confidence and she is more controlled with her voice. She has also learned to express what she is singing about through facial expressions. Sandra's guidance has given my daughter an advantage in her endeavors. I would highly recommend Sandra to anyone!"
