Sachie T.

Sunnyvale, CA

About Sachie

Born to an award winning conductor and music teacher, I was exposed to music at a very early age. With my father’s supervision, I began my piano and ear-training at the age of three. At age four, I joined the Yamaha musical after-school program and engaged in group lessons. As I got older, group lessons gave way to private instruction as I learned and played piano passionately through my childhood.

I was born and raised in Hiroshima, Japan and left my native land in 2006 to the United States to better my education. In school I studied general music, with an emphasis on piano. Additionally,
I have also studied Early Childhood Development and Education.

*** Lesson Details ***
I tailor my lessons depending on the age and experience level of my students, but in general I believe in the Suzuki method as one of the tools for first steps. The Suzuki method is a very well established philosophy of learning that focuses on ear and practical training. By training ear and musicality while learning proper finger position, the child improves without spending too much time at the start learning note reading.
As the child quickly progresses I music theory and reading follow.

I am a passionate teacher and believe in the musical potential of all students. I am eager to work your child to help unlock their abilities and motivation. It is my view that communication is a two-way road and it is excited to provide instruction while properly communicating with her students. Through this, I can overcome each individual’s obstacles and also enhance their inner strengths. With the right instruction, developing the right motivation, and of course practice, she feels every student has the potential for great success.

*** Specialties ***
Classical, Jazz, Modern, Traditional

Sachie taught my daughter Piano. She was very easy to work with. She tailors her teaching in consultation with the parents. For example, during the school year my daughter was not keeping pace with 5 homeworks a week. I spoke to Sachie, she adjusted it to 2 per week and my daughter was learning more. The reason that Sachie is not teaching her any more is because we moved and it's too long a commute for her. Otherwise, I'd happily have her as my daughter's piano teacher.

Lilly K.

Santa Clara, CA

About Lilly

Hi there!
I am really excited that you've decided to take music lessons and are here on my page looking for an awesome teacher. I have lots of experience in music and I can't wait to teach it to someone else, whether they're a kid or an adult.

Currently I am attending graduate school for a Masters in Public Health so I can save the world later. ;) My undergraduate degree was in psychology. I've spent a lot of time in school and music has been the one medium through which I have relieved stressed and made myself happy, inspired, and relaxed. While going to school, I also continued my music
by being a teacher as well as helping out with the university orchestra.

Started music at a young age of 8, with my first instrument being the Flute followed by the Piano. Because I began music with a teacher who was studying music academically, I have a very strong background in theory, technique, and tone. At the same time, I really think its all about having fun and loving what you play/learn.

I have taught adults and children so I do feel comfortable with any age group. I also have a pretty vast repertoire of different books and pieces that I use for different levels and ages.

My philosophy is for the learning/teaching experience to be a complete collaboration between me and the student. I am tough with certain things because I know they're super important to master but I like to also bend certain rules so that my student is happy with the classes.

I hope to hear from you and if not, I hope you find a really awesome music teacher!

Cheers,
Lilli

Why Are There Different Violin Sizes, and Why Does it Matter?
One of the main concerns that violin students and their parents typically have is purchasing the right-sized violin. Obviously you can't give a five-year-old a full-size violin and expect him or her to be able to handle the instrument. And once kids are in their teenage years, trying to keep up with growth spurts can be extremely difficult, especially considering how much violins cost. Even adults can run into problems when selecting the right size. Fortunately, after a little research, selectin
