Sami C. Puyallup, WA

About Sami

My name is Sami, I am so very passionate about music. I write songs for a wonderful rock band named Blue Helix. When I'm not rocking out with the band I enjoy teaching others how to play guitar, Sing with power and enthusiasm, and stage presence. I have many years experience teaching music, mainly guitar and vocals. The trick i find is to first off teach timing, and teach Pitch. Performance comes with confidence. I have many different methods on how to train my students, but I have an advantage because i have a recording studio at my backside. With that I have all the equipment and lighting needed to set up a fun and realistic environment for a student to develop their music passions. I look forward to teaching you. *** Lesson Details *** Lessons depend on the level of experience ...

Kareem K. Tacoma, WA

About Kareem

A native of the Pacific Northwest, saxophonist Kareem K is a performer, composer, and educator, who is in high demand for his talents both on and off the stage. Growing up in the northwest with its vibrant music scene allowed Kareem the opportunity to study with, listen to and perform with world class jazz artists residing in the area. Artists such as Tracy Knoop, Jay Thomas, Don Lanphere, Bill Ramsay, Hadley Caliman, Julian Priester and many others had a large impact on Kareem early in his musical education. This direction and guidance continues to inspire and lead Kareem as he continues his lifelong passion undertaking a career as a professional musician. Kareem has been teaching me since I was in the fourth grade. I am currently in 8th grade, and man what can I say, he's as good as it gets! After two years I was in my middle school jazz band, which is not easy for a person who has only been playing for two years. You, yourself will be able to see extreme progress within just a few lessons! You must know Kareem teaches at Pierce College, a class at the Tacoma School of the Arts (which I hopefully will be attending and taking his class), teaches numerous private students every week, and lastly he performs with a stellar jazz band of his own! He is extremely dedicated to the musical field. If I were anybody reading this review and wanted to start playing any of the variety of instruments he plays, I would call Kareem K.!

Kareem is a dedicated and diligent musician and teacher. He is able to share his love of music with students of all ages. Not only is he extremely capable of teaching students the technical aspects of music, but his lessons incorporate a wider perspective as well, such as, listening to different genres of music and asking his students to discuss what they hear. He is always positive and encourages students to do their best. He has style and class and it is a privilege that two of my children can study under his tutelage.

Kareem is the man. I first met him while playing in the Pierce College Big Band--which he directs and is a perennial first place at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. I studied with him for 6 months formally but over the past 2 years through his weekly jam session and mutual gigs he's become a tremendous influence in my life. Whether your a beginner on your axe or an aspiring jazz student of any level he is the instructor for you.
As an improvisor his main influences are Sonny Stitt, Dexter Gordon, and Joshua Redman. For any jazz musician on any instrument he is a master instructor of bebop. His overall playing versatility is solid but his forte is bebop. He is simply a beast of bebop and can aptly guide you along the path of musical enlightenment. Also, like most great jazz musicians his piano chops are excellent.
Ross M. Tacoma, WA

About Ross

Playing guitar is the dream of many kids growing up. I spent hours in my room as a teenager in Florida trying to master the licks of the guitar heroes of the 1970s. I know there are just as many kids, and former kids, trying to do the same here in the 21st century. My mission as your instructor is to help you eliminate much of the wasted time and effort that comes along with learning a musical instrument. In any new endeavor there is always trial and error but I can help reduce the errors and, more importantly, the frustration, by demonstrating the proper techniques and shortcuts necessary to master those flavorful licks on Hendrix’s “All Along the Watchtower” or Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight.” And most importantly, you’ll learn to make music… I am a working ...

Will is a highly knowledgeable and relatable instructor

With Will’s patience and easy instruction I am slowly learning the instrument that I love. Will is always prepared for our session with hand outs and a lesson plan. I appreciate that he is willing to take our lesson in a different direction then originally planned depending on my progression. His style is very laid back while still having expectations of your development which is nice because this pushes me to do the work. I highly recommend Will as your instructor.

Joe W. Auburn, WA

About Joe

SUMMARY I'm dedicated to mentoring the next generation of influential artists. With a focus on the mentoring of students, as opposed to a conventional method of teaching, I like to develop more than just an understanding of music within my students. I enjoy working closely with each student to help them develop an understanding of themselves and help them learn how to apply that understanding musically. I always put the needs of my students first. Whether it's staying late to help the student understand the lesson being taught, offering advice and presence to assist a student in overcoming the nerves of a first performance, or being there to listen when personal struggles arise, I offers far more than just an understanding of notes and rhythm. I offer an understanding of what it takes

Outstanding

I was only able to take a few lessons from Joe because of an upcoming military deployment. In the few weeks that I had, I made great strides and I feel went from being an extreme beginner a low level intermediate guitar player.

Joe has an incredible ability of breaking things down in a way that are easy for the student to understand and is very focused on helping you meet your goals!

I would absolutely recommend Joe to anyone! Outstanding dude!!

The man, the myth, the legend, Joe W.

I have been taking lessons with Joe since 2010 and I don't know anyone who is better than this guy. Because of a car accident I was in I don't have fully functioning fingers sometimes. Joe was so patient and kind with me. He is always pushing me to take chances and try new things. After 3 years I am able to play the guitar, sing, play for church events, transposing, and entertain the masses!! Joe has helped me arrange music for weddings, holidays, etc. Joe is seriously the best of the best. I drive an hour every week just to take lessons, because he is that good.

Great Teacher!

My son has been taking lessons with Joe for over 5 years. Joe is a wonderful teacher. We truly couldn't ask for a better fit for him. He is fun and also expects him to do his work. My son has Asperger's so teaching can be a challenge. Joe has learned exactly how my son learns and by not expecting him to understand and learn exactly the same way as others, I feel like T has learned SO much.
I would highly recommend Joe to anyone I know that wants a good experience to learn music and be passionate about it as well.
