Piano is my main instrument. I studied everything from Chopin to Duke Ellington to Buena Vista Social Club. I teach any style.
In piano, we will begin with simple music designed to build strength and dexterity in your hands. We will focus on learning note reading from the beginning, so I must strongly recommend that young children are able to track words, if not already reading. We will learn a variety of repertoire, including classical, pop, holiday, folk, and much more!
I started playing piano when I was 6. I have experience with teaching piano, accompanying choirs/soloists on piano, playing the church organ, playing piano for musicals, performing in weddings/luncheons, and making my family very happy as I serenade them on the piano.
I teach students of all kind with all personalities! I teach how they learn. Whether it is by drawing a picture, or telling a story metaphorically, I make sure they learn what I am trying to teach. I introduce my students to music theory, performance, and technique from the beginning. It is important that they understand the music they are playing and why performing it is important. I make sure they know this; that if they know how it works, they can play anything they desire in the future!
