    About Virginia A.

Take ONLINE lessons during these uncertain times hassle free! I have over 4 years of teaching experience with strings and piano. I have played my primary instrument, viola, for over 10 years. I love to encourage students that quantity doesn't always beat out quality. That being said, I love a laid back lesson environment where the student can feel comfortable enough to ask questions, and make mistakes so they can learn and do better next time. I have taught kids as young as 4 years old, and adults as old as 50 years old. Bio: Virginia, violist, recently graduated with her master’s degree in Viola Performance from Kent State University. She served as the graduate assistant for viola. She performs in the Kent State University Orchestra, is the former principle violist for the Stow Symphony Orchestra and performs frequently with the Tuscarawas Philharmonic. Previously, Virginia performed in the Lakewood High School Philharmonic and Symphony orchestra, served as principal violist for the Lakewood High School Chamber Orchestra, principal violist for the Ohio University Honors Orchestra, and has performed as an electric violist for The Lakewood Project. She has also performed as principle violist in theater productions such as Oklahoma!, Little Women, Cinderella, Into the Woods and Beauty and the Beast. Virginia has performed at Ohio Viola Society Day in 2010, 2012 and 2013. Virginia has performed and recorded in numerous locations around Ohio as a freelance musician. Most notable of those are the 2018 North American Saxophone Alliance alongside saxophonist Bobby Selvaggio, recording work with the Video Production department on the Kent State University Stark campus, violist for the Bay Village commencement at Severance Hall in Cleveland, and many more. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in 2018 and her master’s degree in 2020, both in viola performance. Prior to her attendance at Kent State University, Virginia attended Lakewood High School. Her viola instructors include Megan Greenless, Christiana Reed, Lisa Whitfield,Yu Jin and Joanna Patterson Zakany.

Virginia’s so patient, understanding and energetic! I never was embarrassed when I would make mistakes and our lessons were never stressful. Virginia has taught me so many techniques, strategies, and practicing methods that improved me as a musician and will continue to. Not only was she an amazing instructor but she was also a shoulder for when I was in distress. Thank you Virginia!❤️
