Tang Tee Tong, affectionately called Tee, is a devoted violin pedagogue with 10 years of teaching experience in Arizona, US and her hometown of Singapore. She currently runs a private violin studio in Tempe, AZ and is also the Artistic Director of The Music Circle, Singapore. Graduated recently with a master’s degree in violin performance, Tee counts eminent violinists Dr Jonathan Swartz, Prof Andres Cardenes and Prof Lina Bahn as her mentors in the US. Always ready to learn and push her limits, Tee is now pursuing her doctoral degree as well as her passion for teaching violin.   Armed with a passion to help others embrace music and enjoy a lifelong adventure with this art form, Tee currently teaches students in Tempe, AZ from age 4 onward. Believing that teaching is crucial to helping her grow as a performer, she seeks to create an environment that encourages the lifelong love of music and sharing between herself, her students and parents. Tee has received Suzuki teacher training with Mr William Starr, former President of Suzuki Association of Americas. However, her teaching is not limited to one method but is shaped by all the wonderful mentors she has worked with over the years, her own teaching experiences and training as well as exploration in other pedagogical methods. She believes that each student learns differently and by observing how each student learns best tailor my teaching towards the individual, rather than strictly following a methodology. While actively teaching violin lessons in Tempe, AZ, Tee is also the co-founder and Artistic Director of The Music Circle. Musical Journeys with Students For Tee, music is not a goal in itself. Instead, she believes that music education helps build character, elevates self-esteem and confidence, and cultivates discipline and eagerness for excellence. Teaching has also enabled Tee to better communicate and articulate her technique and musical ideas. She aspires to constantly challenge and motivate her students, while guiding them to become their own teachers. Working with Kids Focused on nurturing a lifelong love for music among her young students, Tee strives to make learning music enjoyable through creative activities and learning methods. Beyond creating delightful lessons and a supportive environment, Tee cultivates discipline in her students such that they are driven to achieve excellence through regular practice. Her efficient practice routines, along with strict violin techniques, provide students with the tools and skills needed to meet the challenges of a wide range of violin repertoire. Teaching Adults Adults who have dreamt of picking up the violin are encouraged to embark on this extraordinary journey. In her teaching journey, Tee has worked with a wide range of adult students with varying personal goals for learning, such as finding solace in music, picking up a hobby, and learning to play for an event or wedding. Some have even been prompted to learn the instrument after listening to violin pieces that stirred their emotions. Regardless of age, Tee’s violin lessons are designed to give adult learners a different perspective of life and kindle their love for music-making. Individual Lessons Recognizing that every student blossoms in a unique way and possesses distinct learning styles, interests and strengths, Tee specializes in private individual lessons. In so doing, she is able to creatively tailor lessons according to her students’ needs and create an optimal environment for them to cultivate good practice habits, making music learning a pleasurable journey for everyone.

Tee is a wonderful teacher. She tailors her lesson plans based on the students instrument level as well as their interest level. Currently she is trying to engage my 10 year old daughter by having her write her own music.

Tee's an extremely experienced teacher and also performer who's attentive, tough, yet inspiring at the same time. She has so much to bring to each lesson! Unlike many other violinists who wow students with their "demos", she focuses on the student and makes sure you leave each day with sufficient good practice. She's also very good at spotting mistakes of early learners before they blossom into problematic habits. What I like most is Tee's ability to customize the learning experience for each student, depending on the way s/he learns-of course, without compromising on lesson quality. I spent close to 2 years with her as a private student and I could not have asked for a better teacher. I attended many of her concerts as well, it was a wonderful journey.
