I was born in Santa Barbara, but I have lived in many states and I have also lived outside of the country. I started to play the piano at age 11, which is much older than when most children start. Once I began playing the piano I became addicted to it. Because I have moved around a lot, I had many piano teachers and learned from many different teaching styles. In college I began playing the organ and I am now the organist at St. Ann Church in Logan Heights. *** Lesson Details *** I am neither too strict nor too laid back, but just right! I have taught many students, each of whom respond differently to different teaching styles. Some students respond better to a more rigid style of teaching, where others need more flexibility. What is important to me is that my students enjoy their piano lessons. While I prefer teaching the classics, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, etc., I am open to teaching all kinds of music, provided that it is fruitful for my students' musical growth. Another important aspect in learning music is the sense of accomplishment. I feel that it is very important for my students to work on a piece of music to completion, because it is at that point when they get to enjoy the fruits of their labor. I always like to have my students leaving the lesson wanting more.
