NYSTA strives to provide voice professionals, both locally and globally, with the tools and inspiration needed for an increasingly informed and creative pedagogy. Immense advances in voice science, neurology, psychology, education theory, medicine, and mind/body healing offer new information and techniques from which voice teachers can draw. By making these resources accessible to our members, we foster twenty-first-century pedagogy, rooted in the great traditions of the past, incorporating the new knowledge of our time.

Somatic Voicework (TM): The Lovetri Method Level 1

NYC vocal technique lessons for singers of all ages. Functional voice training provides freedom, stamina, and strength to the voice.

Melissa's training is grounded in voice science and heath, and her lessons are tailored to meet each individual singer's needs and goals. In addition to vocal exercises and bodywork, a pianist is provided at each lesson to work through repertoire.

Melissa received her Level 1 certification in Somatic Voicework (TM): The Lovetri Method under Broadway voice teacher Jeannette LoVetri. This system of pedagogy draws from classical vocal pedagogy as well as dance, acting, speech pathology, yoga, and Alexander Technique (TM). Melissa graduated from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy's Musical Theatre Integrated Program. She is a proud member of the New York Singing Teachers' Association, Somatic Voicework (TM) Teachers' Association, and Association for Popular Music Education.

Melissa is a graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy’s Musical Theatre Integrated Program. She has trained in singing for over ten years and is certified in level 1 of Somatic Voicework (TM): The Lovetri Method for Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy. In addition to teaching, Melissa has performed in numerous shows in NYC, including at the Manhattan Repertory Theatre, Times Square Arts Center, and CloseUp Cabaret. Her teaching addresses breath management, register balance, freeing tension, posture, and all aspects of performance. Melissa is a proud member of the Somatic Voicework (TM) Teachers Association and the Association for Popular Music Education.
