While I teach many styles of music, I emphasize foundations in classical technique and encourage all of my students to have a basic understanding of musical principles in order to strengthen their playing and comprehension of the music. I received my Bachelors and Masters of Music in Guitar Performance from the Peabody Conservatory and my PhD in Musicology from the University of Arizona; I also teach and perform throughout the DC area. All of my students are encouraged to participate in recitals and performances while they are taking lessons. I believe that sharing your musical talents is an important part of learning an instrument. A note for students at my home studio: I do have pets (cat and dog). They are very friendly but if you have any allergies or would prefer them be kept out of the lessons that is completely fine, just let me know and I will make sure they are kept elsewhere.

I am a new student to the guitar and LeeLee is a great instructor! Her teaching style or technique really made me comfortable and relaxed, even after multiple mistakes I made. She had me playing better in 45 minutes vs 3 hours playing guitar by myself.

LeeLee is a really wonderful teacher. She’s calm, patient, knowledgeable, and flexible. She is able to offer insights that are allowing me to make much faster progress than I ever have on my own or with any other ukulele teacher, so I’m motivated to continue. With her instruction, I’m finally enjoying playing my instrument, and I see that proficiency is on the horizon. I’d recommend her to anyone.
