Guitar with Kevin M.

I've been playing guitar since 2002. I teach beginners of any style though I primarily play Rock, Blues, and Pop. Emphasis for beginners will be on understanding chords and scales and building the dexterity and rhythm required for competent performance of songs of the student's choice. My teaching style emphasizes playing songs over doing exercises, though I do some basic exercises as well. I help the student be able to competently play their guitar, then I follow up with an explanation of the theory behind what they're playing. I aim for my students to have a relatively complete understanding of the instrument and of music in general (theory, notation, lexicon, etc). Students will not be expected to know or learn how to read sheet music.
