Hi, I'm Katie! I'm a vocalist currently living in Phoenix with my husband and my puppy, and I will soon be moving to Chicago. I specialize in teaching young adults, but have experience with all ages. My vocal studies are concentrated in classical & opera. I have been a resident artist for two years at Arizona Opera, and Opera Colorado prior to that. I will soon by joining the Lyric Opera of Chicago in May. HOWEVER, despite my classical career, I also have plenty of experience in other genres. I am a lover of pop & jazz music and have taught many students in musical theater, as well. I grew up listening to Christina Aguilera and Beyonce and Alicia Keys and Ella Fitzgerald. I am a people person: I love to get to know my students & learn about their musical interests, as well as their interests outside the practice room. Singing isn't only about technique: Your life experiences & beliefs have an enormous impact on what you bring to a song. Having worked with many students and having been a student for fifteen years myself, I know how important the relationship between teacher & student is. I'm confident that I'm the right person to help you grow & to learn both as an artist & a human being.

Katie is patient and amazing. She's willing to work on different styles of pieces with you and you'll leave each vocal coaching session feeling accomplished as well as excited to practice at home.

I took voice lessons with Katie at the University of Southern California for two years and they were consistently the highlight of my week. Alongside being an excellent musician herself (with tons of training to qualify it), Katie is a patient, kind, and encouraging teacher. She emphasizes technique while allotting space for the creativity of her students to shine in areas of song choice and vocal style. As a theatre major, I credit working with Katie with helping me get cast in several main stage musicals at USC and improving my vocal technique overall. Working with Katie absolutely transformed me into a better and more confident singer. Plus, our sessions were a blast. I can't recommend Katie enough!

Katie is a true professional who makes every moment of learning an enjoyable one. I will never forget Katie’s reaction during our first lesson together when I told her I would be singing the national anthem at a baseball game the very next day…she was incredibly encouraging and our lesson was focused and productive. Katie is a talented singer, teacher and mentor, and I am very grateful for the knowledge and confidence she has given me!
