My name is Jake! I'm 27 and I've been playing guitar nearly everyday since I was 13 years old. I specialize in rock, metal, and acoustic finger picking. I have studied some classical, I have played in live bands, and I have composed. I've been giving lessons on and off since high school and I truly enjoy watching people grow as musicians. Hopefully TakeLessons can aid me in making that enjoyment full time! My primary focus as a teacher is to aid you in finding your style - your guitar voice, and provide you with the necessary tools and knowledge to develop that voice. I value honesty and openness and I respect and encourage open criticism as it pertains to my methods if they are in conflict with the students desires, style, or learning curve. In that way, I am here to learn just the same as you, and my process is shaped by you.
