With a Bachelor's degree (major instrument: piano, secondary instrument: voice) and more than 25 years of teaching experience, my students enjoy learning a variety of musical styles, as well as technical skills and music theory to enhance their learning and performance. I met the piano at the age of 5, and fell in love the first time I sat on the piano bench. I immediately started taking piano lessons and have loved it ever since. I began taking voice lessons as a teenager and also studied organ for 7 years. I love making music, listening to music and sharing music with my students. I have been a private teacher, choir director, Music Minister, organist, and classroom music teacher for over 25 years. Making music brightens every day. I am married to a great guy and we have raised two children, both of whom are musicians in their own right. We have recently relocated to the Las Vegas area and I am looking forward to sharing music with the people of the North Las Vegas area. *** Lesson Details *** Preparing students to play and perform music for their own enjoyment and the enjoyment of their friends and families is the goal of the piano lesson. The lesson begins with a review of the technique and songs from the previous lesson. Music theory is included as it applies to the music the student is working on. During the performance of the assigned music the student is shown how to make short exercises of problem sections. Games and improvisation are included as time permits and they apply to the student's music. Self-expression, encouragement and fun are the underlying themes of all we do. Students are given options for the music they are working on and are encouraged to bring music that they want to play to their lessons. Music is chosen from a variety of styles, including classical, pop, hymns, jazz and movie/show tunes. Students are also taught to play from a lead sheet (melody line and chord symbols) beginning fairly early in their course of study. *** Studio Equipment *** 5'9" grand piano, recording equipment, games *** Specialties *** MTNA member

Dianne was very helpful and patient with me. She is also very knowledgeable about her craft and makes sure to explain each step in the learning process so that you fully understand what's going on and how to proceed before moving on to the net step.
