    About Christopher C.

Let me introduce myself! I have been playing the violin for about 20 years, and have always know that the violin is an extension of myself! I have an incredible passion for music, and would like to inspire all of my students to share that passion. I've been teaching violin lesson since my high school graduation and throughout my conservatory career. I've taught students as young as 5 as well as adult students looking to learn something new. I was a volunteer at the Hamilton Hill Center for the Arts and helped create the only opportunity for students in the community to learn the violin. I studied Violin Performance at the Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, MA and graduated in June of 2012. My former teachers include Michael Emery and Mark Lakirovich. *** Lesson Details *** My first question to new students is "What do you want to learn, and what are your goals?". Every violin student is unique, and I plan my lessons around individual needs. It is very important for students to develop a good foundation in music, so I incorporate ear-training, theory and basic fundamentals in lessons along with violin technique. A well rounded musician is the best musician. Here are just some examples of the materials I use: Beginning Students: Suzuki Books Essential Elements Whistler: Introducing Positions Beyond Beginner : Sevcik Scale Systems Kreutzer Etudes Theory/Ear-Training: Elementary Rudiments of Music Danhausser Singing Exercises *** Studio Equipment *** Music room with seating for parents. He has cats. *** Specialties *** Russian School of Violin Technique
