Samantha D. Allentown, PA

About Samantha

Samantha started taking piano lessons at age 3 from her mother, who was also a music teacher. She played piano continuously through school, and also learned to play clarinet, guitar, flute, trumpet and sax, often playing different instruments in her school's band. She also learned the violin and cello all before graduating high school and starting college. While still in HIgh School, she started teaching young beginners in her mothers studio. She attended Pensacola Christian College in Florida, majoring in Piano Performance, under the watchful eye of Mr. Daniel Nagy from Brazil. She transferred to Clearwater Christian College, Tampa, FL, her Junior year to study with Dr. Craig Ralston, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Music. After graduation she took a position at

Wonderful!

Samantha D. is wonderful. My kids play so well for only 1 year'sworth of lessons. I would highly recommend her to anyone! I am blownaway by the music that comes out of the Piano from a 7 and 11 year old.My 11 year old signed up for her first music competition at school. Ifyou told me one year ago I would have girls playing a piano, I would notbelieve you. I truly thought they would quit after a couple of months. Not the case. They are musically talented and still love it. Thanks toSamantha D! They are now thriving in the in-school music program.Thank you, TakeLessons, for filtering out the best teachers. When achild has a small window of interest, you have to grab it the rightway...the wrong teacher would not have given me these results.

Highly Recommend her!

My daughters (10, & 6) have only had three lessons with Samantha! They love it. Her nature is kind and welcoming. She can tell how much they can handle so doesn't overwhelm them with too much theory or pieces to play. She strikes a nice balance. My 10 year old started composing her own song when she became bord with the beginner book! Samantha has added to this excitement and changed her teaching style to match my daughters learning style. My daughter was beaming! Samantha has taught her how to take the next pieces of theory and add it to her song. She also ordered music my daughter enjoys like Selena Gomez. My 6 year old is excited every week and doesn't want to be late. My husband and I thought this would be just another thing to start and quit. So far they are going strong!

I very much enjoy the time I share and learn with Mike. He has been very patient with my slow learning curve. I have noticed that he caters to a person's strengths, which works for me since I have been slowly learning technique and muscle coordination in respect to playing the violin.

I highly recommend anyone at any age to call upon Mike for instrumental instruction.

To TakeLessons, thank you for offering a system that lets people connect with highly competent instructors.

Mike has been very patient and helpful and takes the time to carefully explain the instruction given. Besides being a great teacher Mike is very personable and that makes the lessons stress free. Taking lessons from an accomplished working musician is the best possible choice.
Thank you Mike for taking me on as a student!

Mike is the best!!

I always wanted to learn Violin, but at 26 I thought I'd never get very far. Mike is teaching me Improvisation so that I can jam with my bluegrass friends. After 9 months of lessons with Mike, I am starting to really understand my instrument and am able to jam with my friends! I never thought I would progress this quickly and I know that is all due to the way Mike has taught me and teaching me certain things every week that I can build on and practice at home. I definitely recommend Mike for lessons on any instrument, he is a talented multi-instrumentalist who is interested in all genres of music from classical to country, he is accessible and doesn't make you feel like an idiot when you don't get it right, but he is also tough enough on you that you progress very quickly. He is also interested in teaching you what you want to learn, the right way, so you can get the most out of your musical experience. Playing fiddle is now one of my favorite things to do, I get so much joy out of it, all thanks to Mike and a little hard work!! :)

Students of all skill levels are welcome. I tailor the lesson type to the student rather than use a cookie-cutter approach.

About Nicholas

I am a second generation music teacher for piano and violin. I have been teaching for over 15 years as well as playing both instruments for about 30 years. I have an Associates in Music. Making lessons both fun and educational is what make my students successful in their instruments. My lessons are custom made to how the student learns, not cookie-cut. We also do bi-annual recitals in October and April to showcase the students' accomplishments. *** Lesson Details *** My lessons are both fun and educational at the same time. I compromise with my students by having us each pick a piece to play on top of the usual learning pieces. My students play anything from Katy Perry to 80s music and rock ballads and in between. I use John Thompson and Fingerpower as well as a notespeller for

What Are the Best Violin Brands for Beginners?
When you’re first starting to play an instrument, it's important to find a compromise between affordability and good quality. It’s not always smart to buy the cheapest model available, as not only is this likely to produce a poor sound and hamper any incentive to practice or progress, but it's likely to lose a lot of value on the resale market - it's worth bearing in mind that student models will be resold at some later date, whether you're moving onto something better, or to another instrument
What’s the Difference Between Professional and Student Violins?
