Ashlie N. Northridge, CA

We work hard and play hard. There are a lot of laughs along with learning. I host recitals twice a year for those who would like to showcase their talent and progress, not to mention it's fun!

I use classical as the foundation to teach. I use the method books that apply to the students such as "Essential Elements," "Orchestra Expressions," "All For Strings." Etude books such as Kreutzer, Wohlfarht, Mazas, etc, and a wide variety of solo pieces. I encourage singing as much as possible, and enforce reading concepts, style, and passion.

Everyone is their own person, from adult to child I understand if other activities take precedence or if violin is you number one goal. Either way, I can adapt the lesson to fit your need! Remember the lesson should fit your vision not mine, although I may have some good advice to contribute to your vision.

About Ashlie

I very much love teaching, and have a lot of patience. I believe music should be fun, and is necessary to a well-balanced life. I currently live in Northridge, CA. I began my classical training at the age of 5 and began performing professionally in a mariachi group at the age of 15 years old. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education at California State University, Northridge in December of 2010 where I studied violin with Michael Ferril a graduate from Julliard who has played on countless Hollywood films. I returned to CSUN as a graduate student and received my teaching credential in 2013. RECENT PERFORMANCES: House of Blues Anaheim June 2013 -Performed as backup singer and dancer in opening act for Grammy Award winner Intocable Glee, Fox Television

Ashlie has been teaching my twin girls the violin for over a year. She is very kind and patient and has a way of getting through to my children. Ashlie is no pushover which I really like since my girls will look for ways to waste time but the lessons are always well controlled. The girls have learned so much from her and I hope to continue with Ashlie for as long as we can!

A very good instructor, being that she had to contend with an adult learner that also did not read music, she was very understanding. She works her teachings around you not the other way around, so you can move at your own pace and ability and not feel like you are not improving. So I recommend her to any of you who are older, and would like to take up the Violin.

I've had many different music teachers over the years for various instruments but none of them have been as helpful and encouraging as Ashlie.
Ashlie's enthusiasm and love for music shines through every lesson. I would strongly recommend her to everyone!

About Cindy

Hello, my name is Cindy and I am a vocal and instrumental instructor. I received my BA and MAT degrees from Pepperdine University. I have taught privately for over 25 years in the San Fernando Valley, along with Pasadena and Simi Valley areas. During college I performed in several operas including The Magic Flute and Hansel and Gretel with the Burbank Symphony Orchestra. After college, I was a member of Musical Americans, a select touring group from Southern California under the direction of K. Gene Simmonds that toured South America and Japan. I also served as a minister of music at a local church for several years. I began playing the piano at the age of 7. My mother and sister were taking lessons and, when they had finished practicing I would go into the piano and play what ...

Carmen S. Malibu, CA

About Carmen

Carmen has been teaching music for 10 years to children and adults, from age 4 to 50. She is able to teach many genres of music to all levels of musicianship, whether beginner or advanced, whether they want to learn Mozart or Coldplay, Aretha Franklin or Joni Mitchell . Her style of teaching utilizes the classical approach of theory and sight reading, but MOST IMPORTANTLY allows the student to explore the instrument freely while also achieving good musicianship. Having fun while honing the craft is the way to an enduring love of playing and is a principle she always uses in her lessons. Carmen has a special gift with very young children; she is able to keep children interested, engaged, inspired and challenged. She has a patience with children that is extraordinary because she ...

I really have loved taking lessons with Tigran N. I just began this year with him after completing a masters in music from a private college. I have learned so much already. I leave each lesson wanting to work harder and the best part is that he gives me great tips on exactly HOW to practice so I can get the most out of my practice time. It's been a great experience and I am so thankful for the way he challenges me and gives helpful criticism so that I can become a better violinist.

Our son is taking violin lessons from Tigran. We absolutely love him. Tigran comes to our home every week and we have complete trust in him. He is extremely kind and patient and has an amazing teaching style. Our son has only had about 7 months of lessons and each month he has tremendous growth. He is 18 years old and has never had a violin lesson until now. He practices without us having to tell him and he looks forward each week to his lessons with Tigran----That speaks volumes about Tigran as a teacher. We highly recommend him as a teacher and a friend.

My 11 yr old son has been playing violin for a while with the same teacher, and we decided to change teachers to learn other techniques and to pique his interest. We have been with Tigran for almost two months now and there has been a significant
improvement with my son's playing. He seem to acquire back his enthusiasm and passion for playing. He plays with our community Youth Orchestra on the 1st violin
and sits on the 4th chair before starting with Tigran, now he was advanced to the 2nd chair. We are grateful to Tigran for his patience and time. He is very accommodating with his schedule and goes out of his way in teaching my son, on top of it all he is very professional. We would highly recommend him as a great violin teacher.
Brian B. Sunland, CA

I majored in violin performance and studied with the best Russian violin teachers. I have had decades of professional playing experience on the violin.

About Brian

I studied music; violin performance, at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore. I majored on violin and minored on piano. I then spent many years playing and performing professionally in many groups. I played in groups like the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra and other modern music and classical groups. Since I also like to compose, I picked up many other styles and learned a few other instruments. I taught music for over twenty years, being active in the Music Teacher's Association and serving as string judge for the Certificate of Merit several years running. I teach with the principle that anyone can learn anything that is given in the right gradient and this is what really makes learning music enjoyable; not learning a lot of worthless shortcuts but being able to play well ...

I highly recommend Brian as a violin teacher. Brian has proven to be an excellent instructor, teacher and coach. He professionally and gently pointed out areas where I could make improvements, and showed me how to do it. He has great patience and a very effective way of communicating with me.
He is a violinist and a pianist and is expert at both which really enhances my lesson experience.

Ms. Lee is an excellent violin teacher! She taught my son for almost two years in Toronto. When she first came to our home, she went right to work asking about my son’s interests, background, and goals. He was at an intermediate level at the time. She was very articulate and meticulous about form and technique. Today, my son leads the 2nd violin section of his youth orchestra. He loves playing because of her and asks about her all the time.

You will not find a more dedicated violin teacher. My daughter Catherine (in high school at the time) studied with Ms. Lee for only a year and a half but improved dramatically. She received the highest marks possible at the annual Solo & Ensemble Festival. We miss you! – Mary & Cat
