About Melissa

I am dedicated to helping you to feel comfortable singing, performing and even auditioning. Teaching healthy techniques to free up your voice and give you the confidence to sing what you want. I have recently finished a Master's of Music degree from Brigham Young University (BYU) in vocal performance. I have taught private and group voice lessons since 2011, and have developed effective ways of communicating to students. I am trained to help students get to know their voices and how to use them effectively. I have performed major operatic roles for BYU, and am currently performing with the Utah Opera Chorus in Salt Lake City. I have performed in many venues and in front of hundreds of people. Fantastic teacher!

Melissa is wonderful! I was nervous to take lessons, and she made me feel comfortable. She is very friendly and very complimentary of what I am doing well, even if I'm doing other things poorly. I would recommend her to anyone, especially those who are shy about getting started.

Great Teacher! :)

Melissa is an amazing voice teacher! She always created a comfortable environment that we could learn about our individual voices in. She always told me exactly what I needed to improve on in a way that wasn't demeaning, but encouraging! I also attended an opera that she was in, and she was a great actress and singer! I really enjoyed her class and benefited a lot from it.

Great Teacher!

I have nothing but good things to say about Melissa James. She is a very talented teacher who can take a student of any skill level and let them know what they can work on to improve. I really enjoyed the semester class that I took from her.
Seth F. Provo, UT

About Seth

Hello! My name is Seth. I'm currently enrolled in the College of Business at the University of Utah. I began playing guitar when I was 15 after my dad suggested I pick up his old Takamine. I immediately started teaching myself the chords in the back of a instruction book. I am completely self taught however, throughout my 10 years of playing I've picked up new techniques, skills and song repertoire from the many musicians I've met. I spent 4 years working at Bert Murdock Music in Orem, UT where I learned guitar maintenance and repair from a master luthier. I've played in bands both in Utah and Texas where my parents live. I am a songwriter. There is no better instrument to accompany the voice than the guitar! I learned to sing as a boy when I joined the Colorado

Skillful Teacher who Works Hard

Seth is an amazing guitar teacher! My sons, Malcolm and Ian–ages 10 and 15, both take guitar lessons from Seth. He is fun and imaginative each lesson. The progress my kids are making makes me smile. If you want to learn guitar, you better call Seth!
Katie D. Spanish Fork, UT

About Katie

At just 6 months old my mom discovered me humming “Silent Night”. By age 2, I would sit in the bathroom, holding aloft a Reader’s Digest from which I would “read” aloud, belting gibberish at the top of my lungs. Needless to say, my mother quickly enrolled me in the children’s performing group “Sunshine Generation”, since then its been 23 years of singing, dancing, acting, playing piano, playing guitar and playing the ukulele non-stop. I love music and I love teaching! I have been studying the subject for decades now, two and half to be exact. First, in private lessons with wonderful teachers, then in Junior High, and High School. Then I entered the realms of college at Citrus, Riverside City College and my current educating grounds, Brigham Young University(Commercial Music Major). I ...

Mr.

Years ago I majored in guitar at USC, and I taught it for years as well travelled around the world performing. I am particular with my daughter's teachers. Katie is great. She's knowledgeable, relates to my daughter well, and she sounds great, which is why we picked her in the first place!
