I am a 34 year old professional musician, and Instructor. I teach Trumpet, French Horn, Voice/Singing, and can also tutor in several subjects related to History and I also teach Tennis lessons as well. Since August 2011 I have also been employed as the Brass Section Coach for the Ramona High School Band Program. I have 24 years experience playing trumpet, French Horn and Singing and play in several groups around the San Diego area including: The New City Sinfonia (Chamber Orchestra) The Amalgamated, (a Ska/Reggae Band) Full Strength Funk Band Heartland Brass Ensemble Trumpets R Us Fi
larmonica Portuguesa Uniao De San Diego Tierrasanta Lutheran Church,
I am very passionate about music, from learning to teaching, practicing, performing and recording. Every day my goal is to promote music, learn, practice and help people enjoy music either by listening or performing.
*** Lesson Details *** Lessons will start with good solid warm-up exercises focusing on breathing and proper technique for Brass playing. The 2nd part of lessons will be technique, Scales and method books for trumpet and french horn. The last part of lessons will be working on Solo repertoire and learning songs for performance, sight reading, playing duets and learning jazz improvisation if interested. Lessons will include sight reading, play along/sing along CD's Scales and technique as well as theory.
For my Trumpet Students I use Herbert L. Clarke Technical Studies Book to help improve aerobic endurance, technical and finger velocity as well as production of good tone quality. I will also use the Earl Irons Group of 27 exercises as well as the Max Schlossberg Method to help improve air flow, breathing control and fluidity of sound throughout all registers. I also use the J. B. Arban's Conservatory method for other techniques including scales, double and triple tonguing, intervals as well as duets and solo repertoire. For jazz minded students I will start with basic fundamentals of improvisation including melodic improv, Blues forms and blues scales as well as reading through chord changes and playing in several modes and other scales used in jazz.
I also provide tailored instruction on Bugling, and the proper playing of military bugle calls for those students interested as well as those involved with Boy Scouts who wish to earn their Bugle Merit Badge.
For my French Horn Students I will use the same technique books as Trumpet but learning traditional French Horn Solo repertoire, as well as Brass quintet/choir repertoire and orchestral and concert repertoire. Focus for French Horn students will be mainly on control of partials and tuning techniques.
For my Voice students I will start with good breathing technique and warm up exercises designed to get the vocal chords warmed up and get all the other muscles relaxed in order to produce great tone quality. Focus will be on intonation, and learning to use the air and support to extend the vocalists range higher and lower as well as gain power and confidence in singing. Each Vocal student will have a piece to practice or will bring a piece of their choosing in that they would like to learn and this will be used to apply the techniques learned at the beginning of lessons. Styles of singing that I sing and can teach are Classical, Jazz, Big Band and Standards, Oldies, Pop, Country, Soul, Rock, R&B, Christian Rock and Church Music and also harmonizing like in a duet style or choir/vocal ensemble setting. I will also teach performance techniques, showmanship, stage presence and the overall performance package every singer needs to have confidence while singing.
I am a classically trained musician on Trumpet, French Horn and Voice and reading music, articulations, dynamics and learning musical forms is an essential part to any performers success. I also have studied various jazz styles and improvisational techniques as well. I want to teach students the basics of good musicianship and help them to excel in learning, practicing and performing in their own selected styles of music, whether its classical music, or jazz/rock/pop/country and any other styles students are interested in.
For Academic students who need tutoring I have a very extensive background in history, specifically focusing on US History, Military History, and the study of different eras including major war eras. Academic tutoring can be geared towards the understanding, comprehension and critical thinking understanding of the subject matter, as well as research, essay writing, as well as public speaking and project presentation.
For Tennis Students, I focus on the basics from footwork, to basic swing mechanics as well as strategy. Tennis lessons can be geared to develop specific areas of the game of tennis, or an overall game improvement whether for those who want to be competitive, or just enjoy a friendly game more.

JR is excellent in assessing a student's skill level. Once he has determined it he immediately begins challenging the student with fun drills that focus in on improving areas where the student is struggling. Not a moment of the lesson is lost, everything is focused on moving to the next challenge - although patiently.
TakeLessons.com Instructor since 2005, Jason M. is now available for online lessons worldwide featuring multiple-camera angles and a share screen experience leaving no stone un-turned!
Jason has been playing guitar for over 15 years and teaching music since 1996. Although trained in standard teaching methods, he has developed his own method of teaching to positively enhance the students strength, dexterity, ear-training, memorization and techniques. His goal as a teacher is specifically designed to help you achieve your goals as an artist and a musician.
This year Jason was also the M
usic Director at the National Guitar Workshop Day Jams Rock Music Day Camp where students ages 7-15 came out to form bands, record original material and master their craft. He also taught beginning to advanced guitar/ vocals/ performance and songwriting as hosted a recording clinic at the end of each day.
Jason has host student showcases/charity benefits where his students were able to get on stage and show off their new talent and perform with other musicians. It wasn't mandatory though, if you were just looking to come out and support there was no pressure other than to come out and have fun.
Jason has been transcribing for guitar and bass since the age of 18 and since then has become a master of the craft including both 5 line staff and tablature, hand-crafted exercises and deconstructions to better enhance the students learning. Artists and genres that Jason has experience with range from Classic Rock, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Guns N' Roses, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Robert Johnson, Pierce the Veil, Paramore, All Time Low, Demi Lava to, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold, The White Stripes, Green Day, Old Crow Medicine Show, Taylor Swift, Mumford and Sons, Bruno Mars, Rob Zombie, John 5, Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine, Van Morrison, the Beatles, AC/DC, ZZ-Top, Bullet For My Valentine, All That Remains, Ozzy, Black Label Society, Sublime, Aerosmith, At the Drive In, Type O Negative, the Black Keys, the Pixies, the Toadies, Black Sabbath, Jason Mraz, Lady GaGa, John Mayer and Journey.
Jason attended the University of Alaska, Anchorage where his degree is in Music and Business. He is constantly continuing his education with music theory courses as well as private guitar instruction. He attends guitar workshops and seminars by artists such as John5 and Kerry King who are known as some of the worlds finest guitar players. He reviews every day from a wide range of over 1000 sources working to become a better musician and instructor.
Another nice feature that you might enjoy from one on one sessions with Jason is learning the ability to craft and record your own songs using state of the art technology that caters to your own unique personality. There are no limits!
Jason teaches all experience levels from beginner to intermediate and advanced as well as artists that are signed to labels.
Local news outlet Fox 5 did a segment with one of his students who overcame issues with ADD and depression as a result of taking guitar lessons.
His students advance quickly, some have released albums, been in Guitar World Magazine as well as its online companion and won awards for their music websites.

I am so lucky have Jason as my daughter's electric guitar teacher. He is very professional, he knows what to teach and how to teach my daughter based on her level. My daughter really learned a lot from the first 5 lessons that she just completed. Of course I will sign her up to continue with Jason. Jason is also a very nice teacher. He never mind to teach extra time if he finds my daughter is still with passion to the music of the class, and Jason even lend his own guitar to my daughter for her jazz band audition. Thank you so much Jason!

If you're looking for the best golf instructor in San Diego that WILL improve your game - there's no better place. ------- Come take a lesson - you WILL improve... in just ONE lesson. -------- Golf is the blending/marriage of the laws of physics and rules of biomechanics (how the body and it's joints work). If you're not working with an instructor that has a clear and intimate knowledge of that, your improvement will be limited and/or fleeting. ------------ I've received the reviews I have because I know the golf-swing, and I always pinpoint EXACTLY what needs to be fixed. I communicate
those needed changes clearly using the latest CMV video to help with visualization and then work with my golf students tirelessly to make the needed change. ------------------ There IS an optimal way for everyone to swing the club. Just take a quick look at the advances I make with ALL my students (not just "some"... ALL) in just one lesson. (See my Channel on YouTube). Come take one lesson and you'll experience golf shots you never thought were possible. Granted, because each person's stature is different (tall, short, shorter/longer arms/legs) each person's swing may "look" slightly different, but swings that produce CONSISTENT shots that maximize POWER all have the same 4 ELEMENTS. ---------------- My students receive a Private FULL One-Hour Golf Lesson. Including using the New CMV iPad Video system so you can immediately see your swing frame-by-frame... before/after... as well as compared side-by-side to tour-pro swings. ---------------- Lessons given out of JR Southbay Golf Range. 3631 Bonita Rd in Bonita/Chula Vista. This facility has a large grass-range area (not just Mats) and a big open short-game area. --------------- Professional Golf Instruction from - Jim Hassey --------------- Contact me and if I'm in the middle of giving a lesson I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Jim definitely knows what he's talking about! He helped me to make some major adjustments to my swing and captured the results on before/after video that I now have to review. I recommend Jim to anyone looking to improve their game!

Jim went above and beyond to give us the best quality lessons. First, our lesson was scheduled for an hour but he put almost an hour of extra time in to help our stroke. Jim took before and after videos of our stroke and broke them down so we could see where our mistakes were made and how we could correct them. We even received a video comparing or swing to pro golfers. After one lesson we saw noticeable improvement and will definitely be back for more!

Dean is an excellent teacher. With his background in classical as well as contemporary genres of music, plus his thorough, patient style and experience as a performer makes him an excellent instructor.

I was very nervous to try capoeira. When I would watch videos I thought, "I can't do that"... Dean makes every class push you and encourage you to do your best and sure enough a few months later I CAN do a lot of things I didn't think my body could do before. Capoeria with Dean really has changed the relationship I have with my body and what's possible.
