Hello, welcome to my profile and thank you for taking the time to check it out. I am happy to introduce myself to you and share that teaching the performing arts is one of the greatest joys of my life. I am a performing artist and teacher in Los Angeles, teaching a variety of classes from music, dance and theatre. I graduated from San Francisco State University in 2009 where I received a BA in Classical Music, a BA in Dance with a focus in choreography, and a minor in Multi-Cultural Theatre. I have such a strong, well-rounded background in many styles because I value creative exploration. I begin each voice lesson with a warm-up to prepare the student for their session. Next, we do a series of exercises specially designed to help each individual develop their skill in a way that best fits them. We then work on a piece of their choice for the remainder of the lesson, perfecting their technique and helping them become performance ready. I teach with patience and fun because I feel that this is the key to achieving goals and inspiring a good habit of practice.
If you do not already have an aria or sheet music to bring in I can help you choose one during your first lesson. I also require that my students keep a practice journal to record their daily practice sessions. If possible, please bring a recording device of some sort so you can record your lessons. It is a HUGE help to be able to listen back on your lessons and to use them in your daily practice! No experience is necessary, that is what I'm here for!
I fully enjoy teaching music and theater to others and spreading the art of performance, reaching out to all generations. I believe in customizing every lesson to be unique for my students in a way that will serve their individual needs. From childhood I considered myself to be a singer and entertainer. Feeling called to a career in music, I began my undergraduate studies in piano and voice performance at the Wheaton College Conservatory near Chicago, Illinois. I then spent two years in France studying voice at the Conservatoire de Nancy and was awarded the Médaille d’Or in 2004. I then returned to the United States to pursue my singing career. In 2005, I had the honor of being selected to join the Maryland Opera Studio at the University of Maryland. Having years of experience singing opera, I know what my students need to achieve a successfully operatic voice. I focus on specific vocal exercises to strengthen the breath support, expand the range, and open the voice. This allows the voice to become strong, big, and beautiful. I also specialize in acting for singers. I set time aside during lessons to teach my students how to identify with their character and how to bring that process into an aria performance. I am also comfortable coaching Italian, German, and French diction.

I teach to help others experience the same healing I have experienced through music. My approach to singing is informed by my education and years of performance experience.
