Evan C. Brooklyn, NY

About Evan

Born and raised in New Jersey, Evan Michael C. was surrounded by music from a young age. His father, Salvatore C., a talented guitarist dreamed that each of his children would learn a different instrument. After Evan’s eldest brother claimed the guitar, Evan reluctantly picked up the bass at the age of 13. At first, Evan was not happy: It was heavy, and it hurt his fingers. But Evan quickly learned to love the power the bass had over the bandstand and after a few lessons, it was clear that the instrument fit him like a glove. He soon began to perform with high school rock bands, sneaking into local bars and clubs for weekend gigs. A new-found appreciation for upright bass led Evan to start his own trio, sparking a love of R&B and Jazz music that thrives in him to this day. Late in his

Great Teacher!!!

My sons are learning so much in a short amount of time! Evan makes learning music so much fun. They say he's the best teacher they've had so far! I have to agree. He's an all around nice guy who is down to earth and amazingly talented.

To learn how to play the drums is not just learning how to play a beat or a groove, maybe even a song or a solo. Its learning self discipline and self sacrifice. Its learning how to breathe, how to become calm, and let go. It’s learning how your body was naturally designed to move. Its learning how to put all of yourself into something. It’s learning that the best things are learned slowly and mindfully. It’s learning that your mind and body are malleable clay, and you are the sculptor. And most importantly it’s learning that you are a powerful co-creator of your life and your destiny, and that whatever you dedicate yourself to, the universe will gladly remove all the seemingly impossible obstacles that stand in your way.

About Ryan

Music is more than my hobby, or my career, it is my life. I have had the opportunity to work with some great innovative drummers and musicians, and am very enthusiastic about sharing my knowledge of music with others. I am a very laid back person, but I have a lot of passion for music and drumming. I graduated Berklee College of Music as a drum set performance major in 2009 and I have been playing drums for the last 16 years. I am very excited to continue teaching and guide students into finding the unique artist within themselves.  *** Lesson Details *** Every student has different ways of learning at which they excel. We will build the lesson plan that is right for you, set short term weekly goals that will each be a stepping stone towards the drummer you want to become. For the ...

About Asaf

I would not be the person I am today if music wasn't the focal point in my life as it is. Not only do I absolutely love performing and studying music myself, but I adore teaching as well. Part of the musical experience is taking what you hear and what you learn from others and building on it to create your own musical contributions. I take the gifts other teachers and musicians have given me very seriously and subsequently feel the great importance of imparting my knowledge unto others. Whether you want to be a professional, or just be competent enough to enjoy yourself, we all practice, study technique and gain knowledge about music with really only one goal in mind: To have all the tools necessary to express ourselves adeptly through music. All the technique in the world will not ...

Flexible teaching methods!

Asaf is just brilliant. During the first session, my son was very distracted by the other things in the music room ie lights, instruments etc but Asaf managed to engage him by being extremely flexible in his teaching ie he is not wedded to any order and has a lesson plan in mind but goes with the flow and the interest of the child - this ensures that all that was intended on being covered is, and as a result of the flexibility, my son just loves these drum lesson and Asaf. Asaf makes him focus and has built a great teacher/student relationship in only 3 session. I would highly recommend Asaf.

The Consummate Professional

Asaf has trained my son initially on a practice pad. Taught my son Quater notes, Eighth notes and moved on to the Snare Durm and worked his way up to 16th notes. He taught my son how to use wrist action, rather then his arms. The fact that ASAF travels to my home and instructs my son is definitely a plus. He is highly commmunicative and flexible.

im 23, been playing drums for 14 years,I had different teachers all growing up, but I realized that I had no real good knowledge of theory and '' why things works''.
iI've been taking classes with Rafael Leal for six months. During these six months there has been a lot of progress with the knowledge of music theory and my drums skills. There are a lot of music teachers out there, but Rafael's combination of knowledge and skills can not only craft you into a great drummer, but a great musician as well!I highly recommend you contact Rafael leal and pursue taking your music education to a new level.

Professional and competent...

I am a fellow musician, a piano/keyboard player. I first played with Rafael at jam sessions, where we met up several times before getting together privaetly for rehearsing and recording. Rafael is an easy going person who plays both comfortably and with conviction behind the drums. Literate in music notation, specializing in rhythms and patterns, Rafael plays many grooves from Jazz, Rock and Funk to Cumbia, Salsa and Brazillian rhythms for a nice, eclectic mix. Whether improvising or playing more in a tradition, exploring musical territory is a pleasure with Rafael, students can only benefit from his knowledge and experience. Enjoy the journey...
Renato M. Brooklyn, NY

I have been teaching for more then a decade.
Through my lessons you will improve your relationship with the metronome and learn how to keep your groove constant and steady.
I like to record every lesson using the tools of the modern music production to improve your sense of tempo, your sound and to get you used to what's happening out there.
I don't like to waste time on techniques you'll never use in your life.
Music is fun!

I have been taking Music Production lessons with Renato for about a year now. His vast professional knowledge of the recording process along side his immense talent as a drummer has really helped me hone my skills as a producer. He has challenged me to think outside the box and his style of teaching is perfect for me. He gives you a task and tells you "Make it happen!". After its done he goes through your process step by step, showing you how the quickest and most professional way of achieving a task. He recognizes talent and works hard to cultivate and encourage it. I am glad to have him as a mentor and teacher.

Renato M. is one of the best teachers I've ever had. I have learned so much from his extensive experience in the music business and the knowledge he has from producing, composing and playing music all his life.

Being in a room with Renato is guaranteed learning and inspiration. His infinite passion for music is contagious, he makes sure you are learning but most importantly that you love what you're learning about.

I've had many music teachers before in my life but no one as complete as Renato. He comes from a performance background and started producing music at an early age. He knows about arrangement, music history, composing, recording, mixing and mastering, HE IS JUST THE TEACHER YOU WANT TO HAVE!

I take lessons in Logic Pro from Renato and he is extremely helpful and patient. In particular he gets great sound using really basic plug ins. He has an extremely professional studio with some great gear but he showed me how to get my mix sounding great with the minimalist set up I have at home. Highly recommended!
