Don p.

Lebanon, CT

About Don

We provide a complete learning experience beyond your traditional guitar lesson format! We begin by teaching you the skills needed to play and perform your music confidently. The main curriculum is our own Electric Crown Guitar Method which is the result of many years of testing what works best for students in a one on one learning situation. In addition we do supplement our studies with additional learning material.

Learning skills is useless if you don't actually apply them in a real musical way. Playing cool songs that Rock is a large part of our program!!! We use a large variety of pop
ular rock songs ranging from Led Zeppelin to The Beatles to Metallica and so on. We use real band backing tracks which you will be able to take home to practice along with. We will then record YOU playing the guitar parts with the band!

So how our program works is you'll first start out as private one on one lessons for about 5 weeks and then you'll join our "Guitar Team". How the "Guitar Team" works is we'll match you up with another student of a similar level and together you will work on your skills along with learning songs.

The benefit of learning this way is you learn how to play with other musicians and even more important is you'll both push each other resulting in more progress in a shorter amount of time. Aside from this it's just alot more fun!

Fully private lesson are also available for full hour students.

We strive to give you much more then guitar lessons. We offer you a complete guitar experience! Come join the experience!

Learning to play guitar can be a daunting task. Don breaks it down into easy to understand lessons. After each lesson he sends me home with practice homework so I constantly feel like I'm making progress.

The most important thing for me when i wanted to take lesson was that the teacher new his stuff, Don definitely does. I'm not just learning to play guitar, i'm also learning more about music.

When looking for a guitar teacher for my daughter, I was so pleased to find Don. He knew exactly where to begin with her and started her playing music right away. His creative techniques keep her engaged and excitedly looking for what's coming next. He is professional, yet warm at the same time, putting both her and I at ease. It is amazing to see the transformation in my daughter's guitar abilities as well as the transformation in her confidence. Don's expertise and patience is perfectly blended.
Thanks Don!

Steve K.

Ellington, CT

About Steve

I am a Musical Director who has scored original music for many motion pictures and television and was musical arranger for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. I've scored and arranged original music for several television shows including, Desperate Housewives, MTV's Making the Band, It's Showtime at the Apollo and numerous series on PBS, A & E and Disney, . I have also served as on-set vocal and piano coach for many Disney TV series.

As a piano instructor, I believe in giving every student a foundation in classical music.. I enjoy teaching and playing Jazz and pop as well.

I've worked with
students ages 5-90. I simply love the teaching process and respect every student's journey. Mixing structure and discipline with a positive teaching style, I work to inspire students to be their best within a well structured curriculum that is fun and engaging.

Music must be fun...always!

*** Lesson Details ***
My students see progress. I don't believe in cookie-cutter instruction. I take the time to learn a students individual comprehension of the musical language and their learning style. I also build a practice schedule that is realistic and creates growth. Music instruction should not feel like a burden, but should be joyful. It's a process I have respected. Whether you are 90 or 9, you can learn music, love music and feel its presence by playing an instrument or singing. My job is to communicate that joy and show you how you can do it for yourself.

Learning to master a musical instrument is a two way commitment and I will always give you my full effort as I love the results.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a digital upright piano for piano and vocal instruction.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide the lesson material and help students with purchasing the right method books.

*** Specialties ***
For beginning Piano-Intermediate, I have embraced the James Bastien series, as I believe it paces the young student and builds a foundation on a musical and pedagogical level.
Vocally, I follow a classical technique, but use that foundation as a basis to meet the goals of the singer for the style they want to achieve.

1st lesson ever for my 14-yr old son and it went great! Steve did a great job checking in a couple days prior to confirm a few details and sent great directions - he's in the newer part of his neighborhood so the aerial pic he sent was more up to date than the map on our phones, that helped a lot.

I'm a middle aged guy who decided he wanted to take guitar lessons about 3.5 years ago and I haven't looked back. I started out with Bob right from the start, as a beginner and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Learning to play guitar has been a significant addition to my life and Bob's style of teaching and demeanor has been a big part of that. Bob is happy to take you in any direction you want. If you just want to learn to play tab, that's ok. If you want to read music and learn some theory, he has you covered. Whether you are an outright beginner or someone with a lot of musical/guitar background, Bob has the patience and skill to take you to whatever level of playing you want to go.

Mr. P was my teacher when I was in elementary school. I remember all the times I requested to learn a song I heard on the radio or a song for a talent show, Mr. P will do his very best and help me make it perfect. I loved to have him as my teacher. He was always kind and also understanding. He taught me how to play various songs by memory. I can honestly say that I haven't played the guitar for quite some time but I can still pick it up and play the songs he taught me like Margaritaville, Smoke on the Water, and Cheese Burger in Paradise. I think that he is the best guitar teacher.

I started studying guitar with Bob in May, 2013, and since then I've added electric bass and explored related topics (e.g. music production) in our lessons. Bob is terrifically skilled at helping me learn and understand specific songs that I've brought as well as appreciate the overall composition process. From our work together, I've begun to really hear how music works and how my instruments fit into it. He's also a kind, encouraging, and committed mentor with a great sense of humor, and I always leave our lessons with a sense that he enjoyed seeing me grow. Whatever your goals, Bob has a vast reservoir of knowledge to assist you in getting there!!!
