Bradley K.

South Bend, IN

About Bradley

I've been involved with music since preschool: Singing solos publicly since age 5. In addition to my piano and trumpet skills, I started singing Handel's Messiah in high-school. First, as a baritone a
nd then as a tenor during my senior year. I've sung on every continent save Antarctica. And have performed at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fischer Hall, Kennedy Center and several major cathedrals.

During the foundationer year of the Tallis Scholars Summer School in England, director Peter Philips commented that I had a "very impressive" voice.

James Jordan, of the Westminster Choir College, made the observation that I was "very musical" after working with him a week at the inaugural year of the Choral Music Institute at Oxford.

My vocal training includes that with Richard Conrad (Boston), Charles Reid (Andrews University), Paul Sperry (Aspen Music Festival), David Jones (Teacher Mentoring Program), Mark St. Laurent (Massachusetts).

I've worked as Director of Vocal Activities and Choral Studies at Walla Walla University and as a graduate student at Andrews University, I maintained a voice studio.

My students have successfully auditioned for and been accepted into the vocal programs at the following :

Indiana University, Bloomington, Michigan State University, Bethel College and Western Michigan University.

Are You Making the Most of Your Violin Practice?
Gifted musicians don't appear from nowhere fully-formed and ready to take to the concert platform.  For every 45-minute concerto or 90-minute recital you hear, hours of hard work have gone into every note, every phrase, and even how the music is approached, learned, and memorized! It may seem strange to say that proper practice is the most nerve-wracking element of mastering your violin, but if you don't know how to structure the session, how can you ever be sure that you're working on the righ
Is It Possible to Sing Well Without Taking Lessons?
If you're wondering how to sing well without lessons, you'll want to check out this guest post. Here, Washington, DC voice teacher Jacqueline E. shares her thoughts...   Is it possible to sing well without taking voice lessons? In a nutshell, my answer to this is a firm “no.” So, what does it look like for someone who genuinely wants to learn how to sing well, but can’t take lessons, for whatever reason, and just commits to self-teaching through various methods? The different op
11 Ways to Practice Guitar While You Watch Shark Week
You know the best way to practice guitar is with deep concentration, carefully chosen music, and commitment to reaching your guitar goals. But this Shark Week, I have a confession to make. Sometimes I love to make a deep dent in the couch, play guitar, and watch TV for hours. This practice doesn't suit every guitarist, and it drives my family crazy, but I find playing guitar with the TV on incredibly relaxing and I think it's actually helped me become a better player in three distinct ways
Choosing a Neck Strap | How to Play Saxophone Tips
Learning how to play saxophone starts with the right equipment--namely, a quality neck strap! Read on for some helpful advice from Brookings, SD teacher Carl S...    The saxophone is a unique instrument for many reasons. One example is that the saxophone is the only band instrument that uses a neck strap. Unfortunately, the neck strap is often the most overlooked aspect of playing the instrument. One of the first things that I stress to a new student is the importance of the neck
