About Kathryn
Actors and Singers - Work with s coach that is supportive and knowledgable about your craft and about the industry at a rate you won't find anywhere but here.
Knowledge gives you the ability to be prepared for this business. It's also fun.
We will work on monologues, scenes, cold readings, audition technique, music performance and songwriting.
I am a member of SagAftra and Actors Equity and a Critic's Circle Award winner. I trained in New York City and at Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and in Los Angeles and work in the industry and I share what I know.
If you don’t have access
to a teacher where you live you absolutely can study effectively online.
I'll not only collaborate with you to stretch your acting/music or writing chops but I'll also help you understand the industry and how you fit in to it. I am generous with what I know and have been in the industry my entire life. I care about the artist.
For Parents of Minors:
I'm available to help you understand this somewhat confusing industry. I was a young actor/performer in the industry myself.

More about Kathryn
I studied at Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music (CCM). In New York City I was under the care of opera teacher, Leona Matthews, famed acting teacher and director, Word Baker and Edward Morehouse as a student at HB Studio in NYC and Mark Monroe in San Francisco and Los Angeles. I have my own writing doc, the revered Dr. Joyce Block. I work as a recording artist and writer. And I’m lucky to work as a concert artist, too. I began teaching in the early 90's in San Francisco with Mark Monroe, after co founding Mark Monroe Studios. MM Studios began originally in 1987 when I and Mr. Monroe packed their studio, by word of mouth, and when the studio totaled six hundred and fifty actors; they added a studio in Los Angeles. I have been coaching actors and musicians and developing artists ever since.
My background in acting and singing performance comes from the Method. Musicians, Bring or have (online) your instrument.

About Ruth
I've been a professional musician for many years in the classical singing world. I love all kinds of music and have been teaching for over ten years. I'm known for being very kind and supportive. I have two degrees in Music, one from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England. I've been active on classical choral and early music recordings and therefore I get to vote in the GRAMMYs ... my high school students usually help me to consider the Best New Artist category although I have strong opinions of my own because I love pop music too! I teach beginning piano, and all levels of
singing. I've raised two great kids of my own and am married to another professional musician. I love helping people to bring more music into their lives!

Here is an article I love about returning to music lessons as an older person: https://nyti.ms/2jG2kL8

Ruth is one of the best teachers I have had on any subject and my favorite voice teacher of the 3 that I have received lessons from. Ruth is deeply compassionate and highly skilled at bringing out the natural voice that wants to express from my heart. The first few lessons I was in tears, feeling the joy of my own beautiful voice make its way from the cave of my heart. Ruth's teaching technique is lovely and loving. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to explore the freedom of finding their voice!

My integrated musical approach works for all ages and attention levels. Lessons are customized to your needs and goals and include entertaining songs, fun technique exercises, hands-on music theory, and perfor

Spanish Tutoring:
I have over 8 years of experience in this beautiful language. I have studied at the college level and have spent over a year in an immersion program in Mexico. I use sounds and relative English words to make the transition to conversational Spanish easy. About John
My name is John Thies, and I have been a guitar teacher here in Marin County, Ca since 1990. Before that I taught guitar and played gigs in the Kansas City area since 1974. I taught at Mt Tam School in Mill Valley for 10 years 1999 to 2009, and I taught part time at Branson HS in Ross Ca from 2006 to 2017. I am a patient, fun teacher and I teach everyone from beginner to semi pro. I can teach you to read, and to improvise over songs, and my specialty is chord, scale relationships, and chord building. I travel to you if you live in Marin or southern Sonoma County. My fees are reasonable and are
figured on distance from me to you. My general fee is 65.00 per hour. Half hour lessons would be 50 dollars. There is a discount if you pay for 10 lessons at a time. I also teach over the internet which I have done with numerous students over the years.

I am NOT a gifted guitarist and am slow to get it! John's incredible passion for guitar and music is totally evident and along with his never ending patience keeps me there for the long haul. John helps demistify the complex aspects and I am able to progress much quicker than self study programs on the internet. One would be hard pressed to find a better more qualified teacher.

John is an awesome teacher. His most valuable trait is his ability to contextualize everything he teaches. Intervals and chord progressions are not just a product of music theory, but songs that I can relate to. He's very knowledgeable and is very good at explaining what I don't understand. John makes learning the guitar fun and rewarding. I'd definitely recommend him.

I feel as though I have made huge progress under John. He has extremely extensive knowledge about music theory and history. He has an easy going approach to teaching, and is suitable for advanced and beginner players, especially if you are interested in jazz music. He is very flexible concerning locations, and will play with you over Skype if necessary.
