"Knowledgeable, patient, friendly teacher who catered perfectly to my skill-level and needs.
As someone with only a small amount of vocal training and kno
wledge, I needed an experience that would cater to my current skill-level and encourage me to move forward. Chris made me feel completely comfortable and emphasized the importance of singing naturally. Chris offered me simple, concrete explanations of how the voice works and why we implement certain singing exercises - this makes our practice together fun and natural, and reveals the relative simplicity in applying certain vocal techniques. He was very personable, consistently offered more explanation when needed, and invited me to help shape the lesson experience by asking for my input and feedback. Most importantly, he gave me real recommendations that I could start applying immediately! Chris is very knowledgeable - I would definitely recommend his services and plan to have more lessons with him!"

"Mark played for my wedding, and I was incredibly impressed. I had certain musical portions of my wedding pre-arranged, but those plans ended up falling ap
art. Mark was able to pick up and play beautiful music right when I needed him to. His flexibility and willingness to go the extra mile helped make my wedding as successful as it was! He really saved the day, and I'm so thankful he was there! If I couldn't have him at other future events, I would be happy to take any of his students because I know they would have learned from one of the best."

My name is Ryan and I have been involved in music for over 15 years now. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2010, I moved to Seattle to pursue my career in music. While there I taught lessons, performed in musicals, performed at weddings/events, and played with my rock band all over the country. Now I'm home in NJ and ready to continue with that same trend!
I love and respect every type of music there is but I have always excelled and found myself happiest in the broad genre of Rock. Some of the bands that have influenced me in music and that I still listen to t
o this day are: Blink 182, Yellowcard, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, No Doubt, Metallica, and such hard rock acts as Periphery, A Day To Remember, and many others.
It is hard to get a good gauge on who I am as a person through a website so please feel free to call or message me for more information or, of course, book a lesson!
Hilary is a professional flutist and teacher based in the New York/New Jersey area. Hilary will complete her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in performance at Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts under the instruction of Bart Feller (NJ Symphony Principal Flute) this year. Prior to this, Hilary completed her master's degree in flute performance at New York University and also studied music performance at The Boston Conservatory. Most recently, she earned an advanced performance certificate after completing summer courses with flutist Patrick Gallois at the internationally recogn
ized Accademica Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy.
Hilary has been the winner of many flute competitions, including the Music Teacher’s National Association (MTNA) Southern Division Woodwind competition, the Louisiana Flute Society’s College and Orchestral Masterclass competition, and the MidSouth Flute Society’s College Masterclass competition.
Hilary has performed with the National Festival Orchestra, Gulf Coast Symphony, NYU Symphony Orchestra, the Manhattan Symphonie, and alongside musicians from the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) for opera productions and special projects in New Orleans. Hilary has also premiered many new works and was involved in the first ever New Music, New Orleans event, where she premiered an experimental work for flutes, computers, and voices.
Hilary is also a passionate chamber musician and teacher. During her time at NYU, Hilary held an adjunct faculty position and taught undergraduate flute lessons. She is also a substitute flute instructor for the Mason Gross School of the Arts Extension Division and a founding member of the chamber group Duo Kokopele.
*** Lesson Details *** My goal with teaching lessons is to give students of any age the practical tools and foundations they need to explore any genre or type of music. From young students just beginning middle school band to adults looking for an engaging hobby, I can help anyone develop their skills and unlock their inner musical talent! I tailor lessons and curriculum to suit each individual's musical goals, and I strive to make lessons fun and experimental for all ages--think of your lessons as a musical laboratory where we will explore and learn together! After 3-6 months of lessons with me, you will have grasped the foundations of flute playing (posture, breathing, basic finger technique, tone production, articulation) and you will have already learned many short pieces of music. You will also possess an understanding of basic music theory. If you are not starting as a beginner, after a few months you can expect to have improved your technique and finger dexterity. You will be producing a clear and unique tone on the flute and exploring the use of color, vibrato, and nuanced phrasing and articulation to make your music come to life.
*** Travel Equipment *** Students should provide an instrument and a music stand for flute lessons.
*** Specialties *** Flute lessons for any level, Music Theory tutoring, Beginner Piano lessons

Great learning experience
I took flute lessons from Hilary at NYU after several years of not playing at all. I was rusty and had accumulated quite a few bad habits, from poor posture to improper breathing. Starting out, part of my difficulty was in forgetting these habits and starting anew. Not only was Hilary very patient with me, but she also taught useful techniques along the way.
I also had a weak foundation in basic music theory, and Hilary's review lessons were incredibly helpful -- I found myself looking at sheet music and playing scales with a completely different mindset. I can honestly say that I improved significantly (and now I even find myself checking my posture when I'm not playing!). After having taken such a long break, I wasn't sure whether I'd want to start playing again. Hilary's lessons and supportive attitude helped renew my interest and for that I'll always be grateful!

Hilary is an amazing teacher
Hilary is an amazing teacher with a ton of knowledge about flute performance. During my time with her, my playing and musicality improved drastically. She has a lot of flute-playing metaphors up her sleeve that make it easy to understand more complicated techniques.
I would absolutely recommend her as a teacher.

As fun as she is professional!
I took flute lessons with Hilary during my senior year at NYU. I had never played flute before in my life, but I had gotten one as a gift and decided I might as well try and learn. I was very lucky to have chosen Hilary as my teacher!
I had taken music lessons in varying instruments every single semester while at NYU, and Hilary was easily the most memorable and enjoyable teacher I had. While most of my music teachers made our lessons seem like another class, Hilary's passion, excitement, and humor made learning the flute a fun adventure that I looked forward to each week.
In our first lesson, she was able to show me exercises and techniques that got me further in my flute playing than months of trying to teach myself online. In just a few weeks, I knew more than I was expecting to by the end of the whole semester, and I was rewarded by being able to play short but beautiful flute music.
If there was ever a time when I was having trouble with a particular concept or technique, Hilary was always able to either clarify it for me, or explain it in an alternate way until I got it. If I ever had any questions - and I had a lot of them - she was always able to answer them.
I not only learned a lot about the flute, but I had fun while doing it, which for me is the best way to learn an instrument. If you are considering taking flute lessons, I highly recommend you take them with Hilary!
professional harpist and pianist looking mainly to teach lever or pedal harp or piano or organ to beginners through intermediate students. I have been performing for about 15 years. Last year my young student was accepted to the Manhattan School of Music pre-college program and I hope to invite others to be enticed to work hard and learn all the mastery of the harp or piano.

Started with Jim Back in Feb 2015...Im in my 50's and didn't have a clue, my girl gave me a guitar for Christmas and new it was on my bucket list to learn, and learn I did with Jim. Patience and clear, no pressure lessons are what I got. All I wanted to do is sit in my yard and play something that sounded like something, lol.... I am slowly getting better and better as long as I keep to my practice and Jim is always there to help even when I am not in class so to speak. He answers you phone calls and texts if u have questions or forgot something, even sends videos if u need it... Glad I got on board with this guy and I am hoping for more and more enjoyment from my instrument...Give him a shot, I did and pretty sure you wont be disappointed
Teaching guitar, and music for over 13 years, 10+ years of that time spent in professional music schools and shops. In addition, I spent 6 years in a special needs school, teaching general music, and guitar to students with learning and behavior issues. I have had the pleasure of learning from numerous guitar teachers and mentors over the years including, T.T. Quick guitarist, David Dipietro. Recently having toured the US with national acts in the band McClinton, sharing stages with Saving Abel, Adelita's Way, Framing Hanley, Red, Winger, Steelheart and many more. I'm proud to say that I hav
e taken the skills I've honed during those years to stages and studios around the country. I can help you make sense of concepts that many students find confusing. Focusing on the goals the Students wishes to achieve. Ultimately, I teach a student to be able to progress independently. Learning songs is fine, but in the end it's about learning the concepts that allow the student to learn those songs on his/her own and be able to use those elements create their own music. I teach all styles, and levels. Also offering lessons for Bass guitar.

Gavin was the best guitar teachers I've had out of the 4 I've studied under. His teaching granted me the ability to play guitar very cleanly without letting notes ring etc. He also had various exercises and methods to offer whenever I would want to learn something random instead of a song. He himself is a great guitarist who I could listen to play for hours on end. He can play many different styles very well including my favorite style metal. I am still a guitar player solidifying my skills (aren't we all) and just look to get better with no hopes of giving up. From time to time I'd jam with some of the many music friends I have around the area and alway play through the exercises taught to me by Gavin for warmups to solidify the playing session at hand.

Gavin is, by far, the best guitar instructor I've ever had. I took lessons from him for 2+ years and learned a great deal from him. He incorporates teaching the essential skills every guitar player should master with music that the student wants to learn. This method really motivated me to play more and become a much better guitar player! I've learned so many valuable skills (chord recognition, improvisation, scale shapes etc) while taking lessons from him, and it has made me a much better player in the long run. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to take guitar lessons, regardless of their prior skill level. Thank you Gavin!

I took lessons with Gavin for 9 months starting out with very little knowledge, just a basic understanding of guitar. He was able to show me scales, modes, chords, and gave me cool tips and tricks to make guitar playing fun. I am currently in a band as the lead guitar player and was able to develop my ear way more then i would of if i tried learning on my own. now i can play several instruments using the skills i used to play my first. Thanks Gavin!
