About Daniel

Graduated from Georgia Southern in 2001, with a bachelor degree in music education and Boston University in 2015, with a masters in music education.

Have worked for Atlanta public schools as a band director since Fall 2002.

Private lessons are taught on piano, guitar, and all the band instruments.

I also have a deep passion for Disc jockeying with a bias towards reggae and dance music.

*** Lesson Details ***
Students can except a stress free learning process. After learning the basic symbols of music notation, breathing, and simple rhythms the students will continue learning t
he techniques and fingerings on their chosen instrument. After mastering these basic concepts in music the children will then be given a chance to perform their songs to an instrumental accompaniment. This is good for the student who does not play in an ensemble to have the opportunity to play and listen to other moving parts.

*** Specialties ***
music, bass guitar, bassoon, children's music, guitar, classical guitar, electric guitar, home recording, African drum, music theory, acoustic guitar, flute, oboe, trumpet, saxophone, tuba, songwriting, french horn, trombone, clarinet, recording school, piano
My method utilizes maracas and rhythm guitar, played Simultaneously to produce a full ensemble effect.

I must say that Mr Daniel is doing a very good job. This was my third lesson, and he is not going through a set program but is teaching me where I'm at. So he is eliminating any waste time.
I will rate Mr. Daniel with 5 stars

Linda L.

Tucker, GA

I have been playing guitar since I was 13, and teaching since I was 18. I have also worked as a performing musician, with guitar as my main instrument.
I studied jazz guitar, composition, and theory at the Mannes Conservatory in NYC, NY., and also with several private teachers.
I teach many styles, including rock, pop, blues, folk, and jazz.
(I do NOT play classical or flamenco.)
I tailor my lessons to meet the interests and learning styles of my students. I teach playing by ear, music reading, and theory. I enjoy teaching students of all ages - children, teens, and adults.
I make lessons fun for young children, by including some musical games and activities. With teens and adults, I have the students choose the songs and styles they wish to work on, and go from there.

About Linda

*** Travel Equipment ***
I do not typically provide any equipment - but I am willing to select and purchase books for the students to learn from (cost of books to be reimbursed by the student/parent) when requested to do so.

I am also willing to provide stick-on note-names for the keyboard, for young children.

The students must have their own instruments, music stand, paper and pencil, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***
On guitar, I specialize in the following styles: jazz, rock, blues, folk, bluegrass, and children's songs.
Piano: I pr
efer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory. When using an electronic keyboard, I include more rhythm development, arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an electronic keyboard, in the lessons.
English: I am qualified, by years of tutoring, to tutor/teach English (spoken, written, and reading comprehension) to both native English speakers and to those learning it as a second language.
*** I am particularly good at working with children who have a.d.h.d. and other learning disabilities!

Linda is easily the most patient and welcoming person I've ever worked with. She has incredible knowledge over a vast array of topics and she is eager to share with others. This, in my opinion, is the most important quality of all teachers. Her lessons have proved a great way to build a solid base in my field of interest. as well as providing me with a well rounded and wonderful mentor that I'm sure to rely on for many other lessons in the future- banjo or otherwise!

Casey H.

Duluth, GA

I've played guitar my whole life and have been teaching professionally since 1990. My teaching style is involves showing you ways to make playing easier and to point out what you're right so you'll keep doing it! I also help you design practice routines based on songs you like.

About Casey

While still in high school, three of my songs were featured on National Public Radio and I was able to play at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. I next went to school at App State and then graduated from the Atlanta Institute of Music and headlined the graduation concert! My grad school was moving around Atlanta, Savannah, Athens, Nashville, New York and Chicago as a hired guitarist, and teaching in music stores. I played in a wide range of styles and roles (engineer, promoter, musical director, band leader etc) and around 300 gigs!

I took a break last year to finish 2 books I had bounci
ng around in my head and hard drive and self published them last year! The books compliment lessons so our time is spent showing you how to play and playing together, not you looking at me, while I draw a chord. The books have tab with rhythm, chord/scale diagrams and a written description of each topic like an encyclopedia. They also show you how music fits together and give you a solid foundation to build on and music ideas you can use.

As a performer in Savannah, Georgia, my band received the "Best Blues Band" award from Connect Magazine in 2007. I'm currently endorsing Curt Mangan Strings and Gadow Guitars because they're awesome!!!

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching style is all about building on what you already know and pointing out what you're doing right. I'm a very laid back person and love to hear and learn new music so I try to incorporate the music you want to learn as much as possible. Above all else I try to teach you how to practice so that you get the most out of your guitar when you're not in your lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
recording studio, amps, music stand chairs...has a dog.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Travel amp, acoustic or electric, cables.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in teaching theory, technique, performance and improvisation through song so you don't feel like you're working. I am fluent in and have performed these styles on stage: rock, jazz, blues, pop, metal, show tunes, surf, funk, jam, and R&B. I like it all! I teach you to have a solid foundation and how to get songs performance ready. I also try to encourage you to write your own music and can show you some ways to be more creative and get more mileage out of some of the things you already know.

Steve F.

Lawrenceville, GA

About Steve

Steve was born in Joliet, IL and at the young age of 10, he discovered his love of music. A music program for his class with “live” musicians playing real instruments ignited his life long vocation. From that day to this, his fascination with music has only gotten stronger. After 5 years of accordion lessons Steve began to take an interest in the guitar and started taking lessons. Through the years Steve has not only developed a love for the guitar, but the love of teaching the guitar. At 22, he got into his first road band and spent the next 8 years playing concerts sharing the stage with man
y of the great “name” bands on tour as well. Bands such as Blood, Sweat & Tears, Sugarloaf and Iron Butterfly are just a few to mention.

When he came off the road Steve and his brother opened a music store and he began teaching the guitar. Steve keeps the student in mind and creates a way to make the lessons fun and interesting. When Steve was offered a gig as Billy Joe Royal’s guitarist it was back on the road. Steve has also done road work with such notables as The Classics IV and Archie Bell. After the tours Steve opened a recording studio and for many years he played on many artists original songs playing guitar, keyboard and bass guitar as needed, as well as doing the engineering on the tracks. During this time Steve began to rekindle his love of teaching guitar and began accepting students again. Steve says, “Teaching is one of the most enjoyable aspects of music”. When he finally closed the studio down he maintained a number of students and still does. Today, Steve also performs regularly with The Erin Hill Band.

Damon E.

Grayson, GA

I have been playing guitar for over 25 years and teaching for 18. I think learning to play guitar should be fun, so I like to make my lessons enjoyable. I try to craft my lessons specifically for each student depending on that students interests. I can teach many different styles from rock to country, classical, and jazz. I want to inspire my students to share my love for music and show them that making music can be a lifelong pursuit.

About Damon

I have been playing guitar for over 25 years and teaching for 18 years. During this time I have taught all ages and experience levels, from beginner to advanced. I believe that learning to play guitar should be fun. If you're not enjoying it then why do it? I also believe that every student is different and learns differently so I try and structure my lessons and style to the student.

I have a bachelors degree in music, with an emphasis in classical guitar. But I really love to rock! My personal favorite style is rock guitar and I have played live and in studio with various different
bands over the past couple decades. Although that's my style yours may be different and I am comfortable and experienced in teaching many different styles, from classical, acoustic, country and jazz.

My goal in teaching is to inspire my students to love music and love playing guitar.

I couldn't have asked for a better teacher. As an adult beginner I was intimidated to start something new. Damon made me feel completely comfortable that I would be able to achieve my goal in playing guitar. Lessons were simple and to my personal ability. I love that he even gave me tips on how to motivate myself to keep practicing outside of lessons.
