About Anna
With over 20 years of professional music training, I feel confident that you will leave lessons with a new understanding of music. I have trained with a former opera singer for 6 years. I attended Georgia Highlands College as well as Shorter University. I have performed on local stages to sold out audiences and loved every minute of it! I look forward to helping you achieve your dreams and reaching musical goals that you have set for yourself. I have a focus on opera, musical theater, folk, and intermediate piano.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a fairly laid back instructor who will focus on
your improvements and showcase your talents through performances. I will use a variety of curriculum varying from theory (to teach you how to read your music) to vocal techniques and performance pieces. In a few months I will have your vocal range strengthened and you will play piano with more confidence. I will start with your lowest ability and work up to more difficult pieces whether in piano, voice, or both. I do not travel to private homes, and only teach in my own home studio. I ask that all students are able to read.

*** Specialties ***
I studied music with a focus on opera, classical, and musical theater but am also fond of folk and pop.

Anna made me feel real comfortable. Especially important since this is my first time ever trying to sing a song so I felt scared and embarrassed. I look forward to more lessons.

Best experience so far, I felt encouraged and she was very good at speaking to me in a language I can understand because I was rustic in my music background. I believe with more lessons I can learn a lot from her about my voice and the different octaves and pitches.

Introduction

Hi, my name is Kelly Meholic! I have about 20 years playing experience and 12 years of experience teaching private flute lessons. In 2009 I graduated from the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana with my Master's in Flute Performance. Prior to that I attended Florida State University and earned my Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance.

I am very lucky to be able to share my passion for playing the flute with others for a living! It is so awesome to hear how students grow with each lesson and to see them reach their goals whether it is gaining confidence in their play
ing, making All-State, or winning an audition or competition. I am a very patient person and in my teaching I try to keep the atmosphere positive and encouraging. I have taught beginning to advanced private flute lessons to children and adults in person and online all across the country including Hawaii and even as far away as Italy. One thing that I try to do in lessons is to send a recording after we have finished working on a piece. It is always fun to listen back down the road and hear the progress you or your child has made!

Biography

I was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida and became interested in studying music at the age of 12. After weeks of gazing longingly through the window as my twin sister crossed the street to her French horn lessons, I was determined to play an instrument too. I asked my mom if I could take horn lessons, but my sister's teacher advised that I should play another instrument so there would be less competition between the two of us. She told me there was a fantastic flute teacher down the street though and so I began walking to my flute lessons. That flute teacher was Betsy Hudson-Traba, principal flutist of what is now the Sarasota Orchestra. Meeting her and starting flute lessons set my life down an incredible journey through music that would eventually take me halfway across the world.

With Betsy's instruction and encouragement, throughout high school I played principal flute in Sarasota’s youth orchestra program and was a winner of the Young Artist Competition. I attended the prestigious Interlochen Arts Camp where I was exposed to many wonderful artists and teachers. With a lot of hard work, I was able to win first chair flute in the FMEA All-State multiple times.

With a solid foundation in flute playing, I went on to study with Eva Amsler at Florida State University where I earned my Bachelor of Music in flute performance. Her teaching gave me a greater understanding of tone development and movement and also pushed me to understand more about myself as a person. I had a lot of wonderful playing opportunities here and as an undergraduate was playing in the top orchestra. During my time at FSU I was a proud member of the “world renown” Marching CHIEFS, where I served as section leader to 50+ flutes! It was truly incredible having a weekly audience of 80,000 football fans cheering us on. One of my favorite and more unique ensembles I participated in was the Andean ensemble, Aconcagua. I played the zampona (panpipes) and the quena (Andean flute). I loved it because it gave me the chance to play flutes still, but in a different capacity that was much more free than the classical music setting I was accustomed to.

After undergrad, I decided to go abroad for graduate school earning my Master’s at a small conservatory in beautiful Lugano, Switzerland called the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana. I studied under Italian flutists, Mario Ancillotti, Stefano Parrino, and Giovanni Crola. Through their help I was able to refine and demonstrate greater musicality in my playing. Performance was emphasized greatly in lessons and in our school curriculum. I also had many opportunities to pursue my love of travelling and work on my foreign language skills!

After heading home to the States I began my freelance career substituting in various orchestras in Florida including the Sarasota Orchestra, Sarasota Ballet Orchestra, and the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. I now live in Acworth, Georgia where I teach privately and play in the Alpharetta Symphony Orchestra, as well as serve on the orchestra board. In addition to music, I love spending time with my family, friends, my husband, Vance, and our adorable kitties (Ron & Harry) and dog (Leia). I also enjoy reading, hiking, baking, organizing, and cleaning!

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in flute and piccolo solo, orchestral, band, and chamber ensemble playing and also audition prep.

About Carolyn
Sharing my love of music and teaching others is my passion. I began teaching piano and harp lessons when I was in high school. After earning two degrees in music performance at the University of Arizona, I continued my love of teaching by working as the Artistic Director of the Urban Youth Harp Ensemble for 7 years. There I taught harp lessons to hundreds of students, and tried to make music fun and accessible to everyone regardless of their background. I believe that students learn best when the teacher is able to balance hard work and discipline with joy, humor, and a caring relationship wit
h each student.

About Tim
My name is Tim Warren. I am working on my Bachelor of Music in Music Education at Shorter University. My primary instrument is the euphonium, but I have had the opportunity to study the workings of each brass instrument. I started playing trumpet in middle school and did so through my freshman year of college. During the first semester of my sophomore year, I switched instruments to euphonium. Although I am a teacher, I am still constantly learning. I continue to take privately under Mr. Anthony Avitollo. I have passed multiple performance evaluations, students recital performances, and
a junior qualifying exam. I am preparing to perform my senior recital on March 31, 2017.

Tim meets my 7th grader at the middle school and gives him lessons in the band room after school. My son switched from Clarinet to Trumpet at the beginning of the school year and we new we would have to do some hard work for him to catch up to his peers. Tim is GREAT at diagnosing students' problems with breathing, tone, or whatever it might be and helping to find a solution.

My son LOVES playing the trumpet and a lot of it is due to Tim. He is affordable and he is very professional for a college student. I would recommend him.

How to Improvise on Piano and Keyboard | Exercises for Beginners
Forgo the sheet music and try your hand at improvising! Get started with this exercise from Tucker, GA teacher Linda L...   Improvising, in music, is making up your own music on the spot. It is truly “playing with” music, in the more common sense of the word “play.” It’s fun, creative, and, well, playful. When it comes to piano improvisation, I tend to think of jazz, blues, and rock. But one can definitely improvise in any musical style. There is a lot you can learn when it
