Music/Performing Arts Tutoring:
I can prepare you for recitals, competitions, a musical career or just to learn for fun! I have a pretty laid back teaching style. Not only do I make sure that you can perform well but I also make sure you know the history of what you are performing and what it means to you. I allow my students to choose most of the music they want to play, as long as it's in their ability. I am also happy to rearrange the music so it might be easier for you to play and/or understand. It is very important that my students have goals and we work towards achieving them. I give small homework assignments so that you can reach your goals with ease. I put a lot of importance of family involvement in learning and performance. I have a monthly recital with all my students. I also offer free MP3 recordings so my students can track their performance audibly!

Academic Tutoring:
Struggling in class? Need help writing a paper? Have a difficult test coming up? I am happy to help. It's important to attend all tutoring session and on time. If you need to cancel, please call and let me know. I'm happy to attend classes if you need me to. I will have you set goals and I expects you to stick with them. Your success is my success.

ALL AGES AND LEVELS ARE WELCOME!

Ruth E.

Santa Rosa, CA

I am a very experienced, kind, supportive and very knowledgable voice teacher. I have helped high school kids get into summer programs, honor choirs, lead roles and colleges. I love to help amateur choral singers master their music and gain confidence and skills. I am an expert on vocal health and varied repertoire.

About Ruth

I've been a professional musician for many years in the classical singing world. I love all kinds of music and have been teaching for over ten years, students ages 5 to 80. I'm known for being very kind and supportive. I have two degrees in Music, one from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England. I've been active on classical choral and early music recordings and therefore I get to vote in the GRAMMYs ... my high school students usually help me to consider the Best New Artist category although I have strong opinions of my own because I love pop music too! I teach beginning p
iano, and all levels of singing. I've raised two great kids of my own and am married to another professional musician. I love helping people to bring more music into their lives!

Hi, I'm 9 years-old and I think Ruth is very nice!!!!! She understands how you can sometimes feel uncomfortable, and she puts me at ease. I'd say that once you've had 3 lessons with her you'd feel completely comfortable with her. But I was comfortable with her at 2!! She teaches you how to sing in a healthy way, and teaches you how to take care of your vocal cords. Long story short, if you take her class you will love it!!!

Ruth is a consummate voice teacher. I went through many other teachers around whom I felt uncomfortable. She is extremely sensitive. She listens carefully to your voice, your feelings, and to how your body feels. I have been able to do amazing things vocally that I only dreamed of previously. She also understands so many styles, including early music, folk, opera, and Broadway. Right now we are working on a Monteverdi solo with lots of ornamentation.

Alison Q.

Santa Rosa, CA

Lessons begin with vocalizing to find your healthiest and strongest sound
Each lesson is catered to the needs of the particular student; if you are interested in learning more about sight reading and musical theory as well as piano we can arrange more time spent on exercises that will build these skills. Or if you are trying to build your musical theater repertoire and nail your next audition we will delve into the acting of a piece and find you lots of great material that shows off your voice!

About Alison

The only thing Alison loves more than performing onstage is teaching and sharing music with her students. After studying Classical Voice in San Francisco and performing in a variety of genres throughout the Bay Area as well as New York City, Alison understands the sensitivity along with the musical structure that goes into a wonderful performance!
Working with Alison you will open up your vocal sound and begin to understand the intricacies that come with healthy resonant phonation, and build confidence in your body as a performer telling the story of a song, but most importantly have fun whil
e doing it!
Alison is also well trained in theory and ear training/sight reading and can implement those teachings into your lesson if you desire, for a fully rounded lesson in music.

Giorgia G.

Rohnert Park, CA

My lessons are a platform for each student to become the best singer they can be, according to their own definition of success. We will sing any genre you love, and work on the quality of your sound and on the authenticity of your interpretation. You will learn voice technique, diction (if language different than English) as well as stage presence, and how to engage your audience to the fullest. Working with me, you can always expect to have a relaxing and fun self-discovery time.

About Giorgia

I started my solo and backup singer career at the age of 12, working for RG Recording Studio (Italy). When I was 15 I founded a children's choir (ages 5 to 15) called Voci di Pace. I trained them as soloists and as an ensemble, as well as conducted them through the professional recording of dozens of CDs, such as: https://play.spotify.com/album/07WSECpRIw9aub1hpbIqLe. I also trained and conducted students for the recording of highschool musicals such as: https://play.spotify.com/album/44FrC6GPgFYNDyjD6fbMS3.

I began my conservatory bachelor degree training in cello and chamber music in 1997
, and graduated 2010. Since then, I have studied singing technique with pop star Silvia Mezzanotte (www.silviamezzanotte.com) and with opera singers Chiara Fiorani and Noa Frenkel.

I love to teach singing, singing in Italian and Italian diction to students of all ages and backgrounds who are ready to explore their own souls and bodies and to learn how to be themselves through sound and music.

Giorgia was my first teacher in singing when I was just 8 years old. Since then she has always been a model for me: her talent, her competence, her determination really impressed me. She is able to teach very delicate and complexed topics with genuine irony letting your hair down. I strongly recomend her as a teacher, and I will always thank her for letting me able to apreciate at best music.

Giorgia is amazing! She has an incredible ability to make you feel safe to be vulnerable and open. I was very shy with my voice and Giorgia was the very first person to be able to make me sing in front of another person. She takes you through the basics and explains very constructively how things work. I can recommend her to anyone who is wanting to discover their voice!

Giorgia is a beautiful spirit!

I have observed her teaching primarily in choral settings. Even in large group settings, she is able to meet each student where he/she is and bring them to improve in a short amount of time. She is encouraging and warm, and is incredibly skilled in connecting with her students. I have seen her take a student who comes in with no knowledge of intonation and bring her to hear subtleties in pitch.
She turns technical breathing exercises into fun, engaging activities through her background in Active Listening Playground (ALP).

On top of that - she is a joy to sing with!!
