It's all about that Bass
I have been involved in music all of my life. As a child I played trumpet in band and sang in school and church choirs. My favorite movies were musicals and they still are my favorite. Music was my major in college, which included singing, dancing, acting and playing musical instruments. I like all types of music. As a school teacher, I taught 3rd. grade through high school, everything from band and choir to musical theater. I also taught private students, of all ages, piano, guitar, voice and most of the wind instruments. *** Lesson Details *** My students can expect to learn the basics of music theory, such as melody, harmony, key signature and rhythm. I want my students to have fun by learning the kind of music they like best while learning to appreciate the kind of music that ...
My first musical memories are jamming with his father Robert (who plays guitar) in a make-shift garage music room in his hometown of San Diego. I soon discovered a love of and fascination with drumming that led me to pursue music as a lifelong passion. In 2001 I received a B.A. in music from San Diego State University, where I studied classical theory, sang in choirs, took every jazz course available, and played in West African/South Indian drumming ensembles. *** Lesson Details *** I've decided to settle down and have made Sonoma my home. I feels blessed to be teaching and learning from students. I strive to share my knowledge and experience in a positive, exciting way, inspiring creativity, individuality and self-discipline. *** Studio Equipment *** The home studio is a room ...
funk, rock, jazz, whatever you want
Hi! I have studied, performed and taught the violincello (the cello), electric bass and contra-bass (acoustic, upright or double bass) for over two decades. I have played in symphonies, orchestras, chamber music ensembles, rock , blues , R&B, funk, and bluegrass bands, jazz combos, and Indian kirtan ensembles, performing everything from Beethoven and Tchaikovsky to Stevie Wonder and Miles Davis. Among numerous outstanding players and teachers, I have studied with Cameron Sawzin of the Boston Virtuosi as well as with renowned bassist Victor Wooten at his camp in Tennessee and California. I take an intuitive approach to my lessons, focusing on the feel and tone of the music. I have found this to be the fastest and most effective way for my students to learn. I also put emphasis ...

I love playing the bass! I earned a Bachelor of Arts in bass performance, and will partly model my teaching practice from the formal setting in which I learned. But you will decide what you want to play! I'll teach you your favorite songs, as well as infusing the process with theory, ear training, general musicianship, and reading. I've been performing and teaching the bass for the last six years, and have a wealth of knowledge and experience that I'm really looking forward to sharing with you.
Hello! My name is Anna, and I have always loved to teach, play, and learn. You can catch me performing professionally in the Bay Area with a wide range of ensembles, when I'm not teaching during the day. I find the learning process fascinating, and am always happy to share my knowledge of music with others. I studied at Idyllwild, Berklee in Boston, and Humboldt State University. I play piano, electric and upright basses, steel pans, and sing. Of all of the styles of music out there, I mainly adore classical, jazz, rock and blues (and will teach what ever catches your ear, of course!). I also read and write music, and teach ear training and general musicianship. I'm looking forward to meeting you, and feeding your hunger for this wonderful art form.
Experienced guitarist of 12+ years looking to teach students of all ages toward levels they've only dreamt about! I base my lessons purely off my students best interests, and building a strong foundation rooted in self expression and emotion. I specialize primarily in classic/hard rock, blues and heavy metal. I hope to not only help guide my student's physical playing styles but also boost their singularity as a musician through their playing.
