Piano Lessons in Columbia. Amazing Teachers.

As a classically-trained pop pianist of 19 years, I love teaching my students the language of music. Whether you want to learn basics, expand your classical technique, or learn how to play your favorite pop songs, I'm ready to take your self-expression to the next level! I can't wait to start this journey with you. In your first few lessons, you'll learn basic music theory as well as piano etiquette, and even a few songs! As we go on, we will also incorporate ear training and more complex pieces, selected based on your personal goals. I can't wait to start this journey with you!

For beginning piano students, I use Marilyn Lowe's Music Moves for Piano series. If a student already has purchased piano books or has piano books from an older sibling, I would not ask the student to purchase more books until we had used what they already had to its full capacity. For adults and older beginners, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.

I teach students to play all genres of music from beginning to advanced levels.

I can teach to play by reading sheet music and/or by ear (which means to play music without needing the sheet music in front of you)

I've taught many Piano students at a private music academy, ranging from small children to adults. For a beginner, we will focus on fundamentals, as good technique is an investment in future success. I use a well-respected Piano method book for all my students, and many of them have had great success under my instruction.

My goal is to make your musical dreams come true. Whether your little one wants to play nursery rhymes with two hands or you want to play a virtuosic work by Rachmaninoff, my quality lessons will help you reach your goals.

I have been the principal bassist of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra since 2017. Upright bass is the only instrument that I perform on professionally but I've been playing piano since I was seven years old. My teaching is influenced by a lot of my experience as a professional upright bass player. I start off my young piano students in the Piano Adventures books and I start adults in the Bastian Piano for Adults. Both of these series give a solid foundation and present new concepts at a good pace. I also use materials by Bartok, Hanon, Czerny, and other composers to fit individual students' needs.
