Hello future viola students -- welcome!!

In addition to playing violin, I've also played viola in duets, trios, and string quartets, and is another beautiful instrument to learn.

My approach includes providing the student with a good foundation of both left and right hand technique using a combination of method books which reinforce note-reading and proper posture for the first year. We then start adding solo pieces from the Classical repertoire and supplement those with modern pieces from Pop, Latin, Jazz, or any other style the student would like to learn.

Students always get a well-rounded education with me on the string instruments I teach AND are prepared to play either alone, or in groups when the opportunity presents itself.

Happy Practicing!

About Nicolas
Hello there, future string players and welcome to my profile!!

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and raised in Miami, FL. I started my musical career at the age of 8, singing in chorus, playing the recorder, and shortly afterwards moving to the guitar, and the violin.

When I was 15, I was nominated for a James L. Knight Award in Music, and I performed as a violin soloist with the Miami Beach Symphony Orchestra, and the Greater Miami Youth Symphony playing Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3 in G major. One of my most memorable experiences when I was a kid! In high school, I formed my own string quartet and we would perform all over the South Florida community especially at hospitals and for the elderly. At 16 years old, I was also given an internship with the New World Symphony, conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas, for about 2
years. During this time, I was able to take lessons from master violinists such as Marc Thayer and Glen Cherry. During this time, I was given the opportunity to perform with the New World Symphony at 17 years old for pops concert conducted and performed by Chuck Mangione in El Doral, FL.

I later on accepted a scholarship for violin performance at the University of Miami for my Bachelor of Music, and earned my Master of Music from Florida State University. I also taught string orchestras for 10 years at Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center, South Florida Youth Symphony as conductor (and now composer!), and conductor of the Greater Miami Youth Symphony. I was appointed Assistant Conductor of the Alhambra Orchestra for two seasons under the guidance of my high school orchestra teacher, Mr. Reginald Nicholson (1947-2011). It was here where I was able to work on my compositions, orchestrations, and conduct a fine group of musicians.

I now live in sunny Los Angeles, in the Sherman Oaks area, and I'm loving the new change. I am eager to share my knowledge with new students on various subjects such as learning a string instrument to learning a different language. Please feel free to ask me any questions.

I am looking forward to getting to know you and your goals for learning!

LESSON DETAILS
I have been teaching music as an adult, certified teacher since I was in college, but have done teaching as early as 15 years old.

I will help you create a fantastic technical base so you will be able to play with ease as your skill level develops, all while keeping the lessons fun and engaging.

MUSIC STUDIO
Piano, Violin, Guitar, Music Stand, General Teaching Aids, Recording Equipment.

TRAVEL EQUIPMENT
I can provide a music stand and basic materials but the student is expected to have their own instruments and to buy the music I recommend. I can recommend various vendors/shops where you can buy the ideal instrument for your lessons.

EXPERTISE
I am classically-trained musician that also specializes in Tango performance, Latin/Jazz, Rock, and a variety of other styles. I believe that training in the classical aesthetic will create a firm, solid foundation to crossover into other areas listed above. With a good dose of technical exercises, scales, and a variety of repertoire, my students always turn out well-rounded, ready to tackle almost any kind of music they wish to learn.

Thank you for stopping by and let me know what you would like to learn!

As a 30-something adult beginner, I chose Nick as my teacher for his experience and talent. When we had our first few lessons, I knew he was the real deal. He knows his orchestral string instruments, especially my instrument of choice: the viola. I was even more impressed since he has performed with musicians like Chuck Mangione, Barbara Cook, and Andrea Bocelli. He has made my lessons fun, exciting, and very engaging. I highly recommend Nick to anyone wanting to learn a string instrument!

Once you are ready to take on music lessons, your life will never be the same. Music enriches our minds and lives in many ways, including expanding our expectations past what we think is possible for ourselves! I've taught hundreds of students over almost 20 years, and have loved helping my students learn to read and play, discover their own love of music, and conquer their fears of performing.
I've been described by students as encouraging and fun, and my teaching style is warm, positive, and relaxed. I have worked with many students, including some with learning disabilities, physical limitations, PTSD, and just plain ol' stage fright! I work with you to set your own goals, and I look forward to helping you reach them... It's what I love about what I do.

I began my violin studies at age 9, with my humble public school string program. I continued through high school and into college, playing and singing with auditioned district ensembles, school musicals, and chamber choirs, coming in as runner up in my high school's concerto competition, and performing twice in Carnegie Hall. I studied opera, vocal pedagogy, and passed my piano proficiency exam from the advanced class.

In 2003, I earned my violin performance degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and soon after, joined the Kansas City-based Celtic folk group, Tullamore. I have enjoyed 13 seasons with this lauded regional group, playing countless esteemed Celtic festivals across the country and embarking on five international tours of Ireland and Scotland, as well as a Caribbean cruise hosted for our fans. Our sixth international tour is scheduled for 2019 in Scotland.

In 2014, I relocated to Hampton, Virginia, where I auditioned for the Hampton Roads Philharmonic, and currently play as a first violinist.

From 2015-2018, I had the joy of fiddling and singing with Brackish Water Jamboree, an award-winning Americana band, featured on NPR's Blue Plate Special and Out of the Box series with Paul Shugrue, and host of the NorFOLK Festival.

Throughout this time, I have enjoyed teaching a full and enriching music studio of students: hosting recitals, open mics, and ensemble rehearsals, and watching students achieve goals they didn't know were even possible. I continue to teach online via Skype, Zoom, and TakeLessons Classroom, and I look forward to working with you to accomplish your own musical aspirations!

I have more than 10 years of playing expeirence, and a few years of teaching beginner/ intermediate viola students. I also teach beginner violin. I aim to balance solo and group playing experience, along with a strong push for an excellent understanding in music theory. Whether your student is competition based, just getting started, or just wants to play for fun, I've got you covered. Adult students are always welcomed.

About Dominica
I am a classically trained violist who started out playing violin and piano. I grew up attending Pine Forest, LaVilla, and Douglas Anderson. I was fortunate enough to refine my skills in an orchestral setting daily, where i was able to expand my interests in music production, composing, and world music.

In 2010 I started my tutoring experience, where I taught beginners how to play violin and viola. I regularly held leadership roles in my orchestra, and had to help my section play up to my conductors standards. This ment teaching others one on one and in group sessions.

I am currently in college for music after whiching my major from Biology. My passion for music never faded after graduating, and now I am following my dreams of having a career in making music.

As a teacher of both violin and viola, my mission is to help prepare students to both build a skill-set on their instrument and aid in the organizational process towards becoming a confident and articulate musician and person. My studies with an extremely diverse group of professional musicians during the course of my student life have greatly shaped the way I view myself, and I aim to bring the best of my training to my current and future students.

About Brandin
Brandin Kreuder (24) enjoys a growing career as a chamber musician, studio musician, and as an orchestral musician. Mr. Kreuder began the violin at the age of 9, and at 23 he switched primarily to the viola. He is currently the viola TA to Brittany MacWilliams at the University of Louisville School of Music, and performs in the graduate string quartet.

With a strong entrepreneurial drive, Mr. Kreuder performs with pianist Craig Jordan as Duo Vis-À-Vis. They have performed five self-organized concert tours since meeting in 2016. Recent performance locations have included Kansas City, Missouri; Boulder, Colorado; San Francisco, California; Madison, Wisconsin; and Amsterdam, Netherlands.

I began learning the viola when I was five years old, so I understand the need to find fun and passion when playing. That doesn't mean you won't be challenged each week, but we'll make sure you learn more yourself as a student and a violist along the way. I approach each student differently based on their learning style.

About Troy
I have always loved music from an early age. I began playing viola at five years old playing with the Washington DC Youth Orchestra. I continued his career being classically trained in not just viola, but piano as well. Along the way I picked up guitar, drums, and more! I then studied under violist Katherine Murdock at the University of Maryland. I've performed at the White House, the Kennedy Center, and the Spanish Embassy. I now live in Los Angeles recording and producing my own music as well as artists nationally and internationally. My favorite thing about music is the creation of new sounds from a blank slate. My favorite thing about teaching music is making music fun. When taking lessons with me you can expect to have fun but also deeply learn the craft while discovering your own passions along the way. I look forward to getting to
know you as a student and learning about your specific goals, interests, and learning style. Book a lesson now!
