For students who have played an instrument prior to our lessons, I try and shape a curriculum entirely based upon the specific goals of the student, and I rarely use text books although I use a lot of exercises and educational material when appropriate.  I feel learning to play and transcribe songs and solos to increase a students self reliance and confidence is my most important job.  Most students come to me looking for structure so I try and provide a clear path to their goals. For students with no prior music experience I use text books, and exercises to strengthen their technique, expose them to musical ideas, and give them a foundation for basic theory.  After that is accomplished I move into a curriculum that is more personal to their specific goals.

About Jared
I have been playing instruments and performing live since I was 11 years old. Initially trained in classical piano I added guitar to my musical palette at the age of 14. In college I spent time continuing my studies in both piano and guitar and received a bachelors of fine arts with a concentration in jazz guitar from Columbia College Chicago in 2004.

I have since moved to Seattle, WA and have become a regular fixture in the music community as a guitar and theory teacher, songwriter/guitarist of the pop rock bands Electric NoNo and Warren Dunes, and co founder and producer of the The Big Ass Boom Box Festival Seattle and the Seattle X Southwest showcase at SXSW Festival in Austin. I have released five studio albums that have received regional and national attention, toured regionally and nationally, and perform regularly at Seattle ma
instays including The Crocodile, The Sunset, Columbia City Theater, and many more. My band recently performed at The Upstream Music Festival in downtown Seattle in March 2017.

I consider myself a life long student of music and I pride myself on my dedication to a complete understanding of my instrument. I offer beginner - advanced lessons for guitar and songwriting, and beginner - intermediate lessons for ukulele. I also administer a variety of workshops throughout the year for guitar, songwriting, and music theory, as well as bi annual student recitals.

Can clearly explain the bigger picture and break concepts down accordingly. Great at taking bits and pieces of where you're at and recognizing which gaps need filled in order to build a good foundation moving forward.

I am so impressed with Jared’s ability to teach me in a way I wanted to learn. I am probably the most difficult student Jared ever had. I wasn’t particularly interested in strumming. I just wanted to play in a way that the songs would be recognized without any accompaniment. I was also very specific about the pieces I wanted to learn. Jared was always so patient with me and I suspect he spent a great deal of time outside of class figuring everything out for me.

I’ve been playing guitar for 18 years. Ive been doing it for a living for 16 years. Acoustic, electric, rock, jazz, country, funk, lead, rhythm, flatpick, fingerpick...pick a style I’ve played it. My lesson plan will expand your knowledge of chords and scales, and how to use them. I’ll give you exercises to increase speed, dexterierity. You’ll learn music theory while learning your favorite songs, and learn how to apply your knowledge to make learning and writing new songs easier. You will learn something new every lesson, and see noticeable progress after the first couple of sessions.

About PJ
Hello! My name is PJ. I was born and raised in Central Florida, and I’ve spent the last 3 years in Central Iowa with my partner Libby, and our lovely and talented 4 year old daughter, Janie Rose.

I have been a professional musician for almost 20 years, four of which I spent playing trumpet, guitar, bass, and singing in the US Marine Corp Band. For the last decade, I have made my living as a multi-instrumentalist and singer, entertaining thousands on stages across the country and around the world. Currently, I am the Entertainment Director at Blue Moon Dueling Piano Bar in West Des Moines. Libby and I also have a private entertainment company called Epic Event Entertainment that provides live music for weddings, corporate events, fundraisers, etc.

Each lesson plan is customized to cater to each student’s individual needs and goals. Howe
ver some concepts apply to all students. Beginners will develop a solid foundation in basic musical concepts, including, but not limited to, how to read music, the circle of fifths, scales, chords, articulation, posture and breathing. Intermediate students will learn and employ advanced music theory concepts, modes, better sight reading, and improvisation.

Daniel is so patient and easy to work with ~ he makes learning the cello seem so easy and natural and has so many practical ways of explaining an instrument I have no prior knowledge of. I had never played a stringed instrument but always loved the cello, so I was a bit nervous to begin. His gentle nature and patience have made me even more enthusiastic to learn. I have been loving each lesson and look forward to the next each time I leave! I'm looking forward to next week already! :-)

Take guitar lessons with a Berklee College of Music graduate! All levels welcome! I will help you reach any goal whether you want to play professionally or just want to learn your favorite song. I have a strong background in music theory and have learned both Jazz and Classical theory from some of the best professors and musicians in the world. My favorite thing as a teacher is to dissect a student's favorite song and show them the "how" and the "why" of the song. What makes it sound so good? It's so gratifying to see a student use a concept that I've explained to them from their favorite song and reuse it in their own way to make their own music. I can't wait to work with you and watch you flourish as a musician!

I can teach you the fundementals of each and how to use your ear and instincts to become a fluid street smart player.

About Jason
Hi there future 6 stringer! I was a rocker metal head through high school and became interested in all the diverse styles the guitar could do and therefore branched out to Jazz, classical, country, blues and pop. Still a rocker at heart but I know have the training through many instructors and a degree from Berklee College of music to add the depth and scope to my shred ability.

I have taught guitar for 8 years now and still love doing it. I like to teach the theory behind things not just tell you where to put your fingers. My goal is to make you a strong intuitive player that can play from the heart as well as the mind. Let me help you on your way to greatness.
