Lessons are "serious fun," balancing a supportive and encouraging environment with rigor and attention to detail throughout the learning process. I teach students according to how they would like to develop: beginning to advanced classical piano instruction, worship song and hymn lead sheet/chord chart reading, and new popular music styles.

Learning to play the piano, like learning any musical instrument, is rewarding, both in the short term and the long term. It is challenging, at times, both in a physically and an intellectually demanding way. Successful piano students must learn perseverance when faced with difficulties, discipline in practicing daily, and attention to detail in learning to read and interpret music. Most of all, the music matters most: loving and sharing the expression of beauty, power, nuance, complexity, and simplicity.

I recommend that all piano students listen. Listen on YouTube, go to live concerts, subscribe to Apple Music or YouTube Music. Drink-in ...

I am a highly motivated piano teacher with the experience of 35+ years of private lessons in my home. I enjoy teaching all ages and levels in many genres of music. Included in lessons besides learning beautiful pieces, are emphasis on technical skills, music theory, sight reading and improvising. I tailor lessons according to existing strengths and weaknesses. My students are equipped with the knowledge of how to practice at home! I record each lessons' assignments for the student to use at home to practice efficiently.

About Toni

I've studied and enjoyed piano since I was very young, having classical piano study as my musical foundation. As a student, my teacher had me participate in our area's Student Piano Proficiency Certification program up through all ten levels. Also, as a pre-teen, I started voice lessons and 'sang

She is kind, patient, and thorough in her teaching. She makes sure to explain why you use proper technique, not just telling you to do so. She helps you become a better pianist and love what you are learning. Would highly recommend for a beginner or an advance player. Started beginner level In June. Age 10.

Toni is very professional in how she conducts her lessons. She is very knowledgeable and skilled at teaching piano and shows a lot of patients and kindness. I find her very understanding and agreeable to our needs and she does an amazing job accommodating our special requirements. I find her prices to be reasonable and her scheduling to be practical.
Maggie
My daughter has been taking lessons with Toni for several months now. This is her second piano teacher and the improvement we've seen from switching is just unbelievable. I love Toni's philosophy of teaching the kids to read music and all the fundamentals of basic piano chords and scales before they get into "fun music". I thought my daughter would not like it, but she loves the sense of accomplishment she feels when she can sight-read a piece of music just because of the time she has taken to work on the basics. If your child is serious about wanting to play piano, I think Toni is a fantastic choice!

I have played in a variety of musicals and various college orchestras and chamber groups. Because of my approach to music I don't consider classical my forte but I can still teach any student cellist a great amount about beginning to advanced playing in any style - including classical.

I am also comfortable playing a variety of styles on the cello, namely jazz.

About Jared

I am overjoyed and grateful to say I have been teaching music since 2008. I am a very friendly and fun teacher with a great deal of professionalism and patience. More importantly, I love teaching and playing music with a passion. I play a great variety of instruments and have had the opportunity

Songwriting is a very personal aspect of musical training, and its my goal to understand each student and their musical vision and background to better tailor their education. I want to allow each student to not only able to improve themselves as musicians and writers, but also improve the way they learn and study. The dedication and work ethic are part of being a successful songwriter, and the ability to work well with other creative perspectives plays a huge part.

I have found that the classical music world can often fall into the trap of being stuffy, competitive, and intimidating. The professional scene can sometimes lose sight of what's really important (that music is supposed to be fun and enjoyable!) and unfortunately drive some people away from this divine art form. Music is everything and everywhere - it is the most intimate, intuitive and beautiful language that transcends the oral and written word. I do emphasize proper technique in lessons, but I do not lose sight of this truth and try my best to keep my students motivated and inspired. With all that being said, I can go at whatever pace the student wishes. I can provide a low pressure, light hearted environment. I am also capable of placing focus on refining proper violin/viola technique - this creates the best results and faster progress. At the end of each lesson, I give clear instructions on how to productively practice at home.

About Aekyung

Graduated from The Juilliard School with both my Master's and Bachelor's degree. Studied with the principal of the NY Philharmonic. Suzuki Certified Teacher. Currently on faculty at an established music institute in CT and the Assistant Principal violist of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. More

"Gavin was the best guitar teachers I've had out of the 4 I've studied under. His teaching granted me the ability to play guitar very cleanly without letting notes ring etc. He also had various exercises and methods to offer whenever I would want to learn something random instead of a song. He himself is a great guitarist who I could listen to play for hours on end. He can play many different styles very well including my favorite style metal. I am still a guitar player solidifying my skills (aren't we all) and just look to get better with no hopes of giving up. From time to time I'd jam with some of the many music friends I have around the area and alway play through the exercises taught to me by Gavin for warmups to solidify the playing session at hand."
