About Marcel

I work as a tutor and mentor in many of those fields for years. It was and is a side business, but I always enjoyed teaching. I am looking forward to move on with you and / or your kids. Have a great day, Marcel Update 02/10/15: Takelessons is a great way to teach and a fantastic and easy w

I learned a lot from Marcel and liked his vision of how to redo the garden. The original garden was cluttered with overlapping plants and we discussed how to improve it. He pulled out his iPad and made several garden sketches that were helpful. The original garden was cluttered with overlapping plants and we decided to remove several of them and re-"orchestrate" the remaining ones. (We only bought new plants if they were needed to realize the new garden vision.) He is also a very hard worker, helping me (physically) transplant and add plants as required. For example, we transplanted a 100+ (?) pound Sago palm across the front yard. I would never have done that on my own (too heavy for me) but together we did it! Highly recommended. Bill

Excellent teacher. We took a 20'x2' section of "dirt" in the back, redid the soil, transplanted a rose in that section, added two other new roses and a bunch of ground cover. Looks great! Recommended.

I did not actually take any lessons with him, but his schedule did not reflect what showed as available in Takelessons. He had a very bad attitude and would not actually schedule the lesson after several exchanges.

Let me explain how much I love reading. So much that I like writing too. Here's one I wrote:

Red-Hatted Women Spotted at the Local Library

After my recent implosion onto a library book, as mentioned in my article of July 4, 2012, I returned my proofreading book to the library with such shame I felt I could not show any librarian my true identity. I inserted the wet (and now moldy) proofreading book (in a plastic bag) with a profuse apology note to all librarians everywhere, into the book drop box. Have mercy, I did not finish the proofreading book before I wrote this. And I saw a gang of red hatted women congregating around the periphery of the library. I take this as a very good sign that my month will improve now that I fessed up.

Believe it or not, I did not know there really was such a thing as the Red Hat Society until a friend of mine said there truly were clubs like “that” all over the country. Coincidentally, on a really bad day, a week after this conversation with ...

Sonia is so very kind to my son. He has not had a good expereince in school with learning how to read. She took his sour attitude and turned it around to something sweet. Now I have a child that loves coming to her sessions. He even asks to come on Saturdays. His grade levels have risen on the state assessments from a 1.2 to 3.1 in less than 6 months.

Sonia has instructed my daughter since 2016. My daughter has an IEP for reading and the school was not helping her improve her reading skills to grade level. In our state if one does not pass the end of grade assessment in reading, you are retained in that grade level. Sonia was able to assit my daughter in being promted to the next grade. She helped my daughter bring her scores up 2 grade levels in 1 year. I call that success!

My son has received instruction from Sonia for 4 years. She is ever so patient, kind, and friendly. She makes learning a boring subject like math fun. My son's math anxiety has lessened due to her methods and I hope she can continue working with him in the future.

"Kesley is absolutely amazing! She is so patient and creative. My daughter struggled so much with reading. Now she is a confident reader and is near the top of her class in both reading and math. Additionally, my daughter struggled with some behavior problems. Kesley was firm but kind and helped her behave not only during tutoring session, but also in school.

We are also foster parents with kids of all ages coming and going all the time. Kesley has worked with almost all of them and helped them get caught up in school. If there was something higher than 5 stars, I would give it to Kesley. You could not find a better tutor."

"Maurice is an outstanding educator, an educator that makes students feel capable and confident in accomplishing whatever academic goals they may have or struggle with. He puts all his focus on what students first need to learn in order to get to their goal. He's one of the most understanding educators I've had the pleasure of working with. His patience, regardless of the students difficulty on grasping the academic concept is astonishing. If a student isn't understanding one learning style, he'll try a different way until the student does."

"My lessons with Laurel have been fantastic! She's very patient & knows exactly how to make everything make sense & how to break things down in order give proper analysis in whatever she teaches from piano to singing to basic music theory. She was able to answer any questions I had in full detail. She's a very warm & welcoming person that loves to teach & can do so very well. I highly recommend her as an instructor. She is with out a doubt, a genius of her craft."
