Thanks so much for taking the time to inquire about studying music with me.
Music and studying music has always been a passionate experience for me. I have been so blessed with the teachers and fellow musicians in my life. You should realize that your study of music may start with me, but it will last your entire lifetime. I hope that all of your life you will have a rewarding relationship to music and the spirit of great sounds!
I have performed in great jazz clubs in New York, on Broadway, and performing arts centers across the country. I'm currently playing in many great performing ensembles. I have put out two CD's as a leader and played on multiple CD's for other artists.
It has been my pleasure to teach privately, as well as in the classroom for 15 years. I enjoy performing many different types of music. I pri
de myself on being very open minded in terms of musical taste. Never apologize for liking what you like! I bet there is something in that music which is great. I can't wait to learn something from the music you introduce to me.
I be glad to provide a full resume to anyone who requests it.
*** Lesson Details ***
My most important goal for each student is that they get to where they want to be musically.
I want the student to be able to play the way he or she wants to play. If you want to learn to play one song, that is great! If you want to learn to play one classical etude that is just as great! If you want to learn how to play in a salsa band, bravo! I treat the desires of my students as my curriculum. Each student will receive special prep time from me each week. I pride myself in taking the time and energy to prepare for each meeting. Every time you complete a lesson, it is my hope that you are walking away as a better musician.
In the beginning I hope to find what will musically interests you the most. Usually, you might have a goal that requires you to play on a higher level than you do presently. If that is true, we might take some time to figure out a road map to get you to that place. Along the way, I'm sure you and I will learn many new concepts and techniques that aid you in becoming the bassist/musician you want to be.
And rest assured, the teacher always learns from the student...this is the best part of teaching: learning from the student.
*** Studio Equipment ***
Studio: 3 electric basses, plenty of amps and chords, one acoustic bass, piano, ukulele, guitar, computer playback and recording.
*** Travel Equipment *** As requested
*** Specialties *** I have been lucky to play tons of different types of music. I believe I can give musicians and aspiring musicians a deep understanding of what is most important in many different styles of music. Music I have been lucky enough to study and play professionally: Jazz, Rock, Funk, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Blues, Classical, Pop. I'm also a very good transcriber, so if there is a song you heard on the radio we can definitely play it! Ear training could be an area in which I could be of service to you as well. I have many arranging and composing credits and I would be glad to help students in this area whenever requested.
*** Travel Equipment *** I expect the student to buy the books that I need them to buy and to have either a keyboard or piano. I also expect that the Spanish students will obtain the proper materials that I ask of them.
I read best reviews. Can phone number of the Teacher be placed here so that I could enroll.

Ms. Janai was the best tutor I have ever had. No matter the day, or time she was always there to help me out. Either it was math, science, writing, etc. she'd help me with every subject no matter how long it took for me to get it right, every subject was like her first nature. She was amazing teaching in person and just as good online. I've never met another tutor like Janai, she understands what you're going wrong and what your difficulties are, but she always manages to turn those difficulties around and make you better at understanding what you need to do better in order to succeed. If you're looking for an outstanding tutor Janai is the way to go!

Janai is great with older adults. She's so patient and makes me feel relaxed even when I'm saying the wrong words. She has passion! and that's exciting to see.
My name is Doniell and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2002 and have loved helping my students appreciate, understand, and be inspired by music. I went to Washington State University, and the University of Maryland, and earned a degree in Humanities in 2011. I am a member of MTNA, and teach lessons to students from my local area in my home and online to students around the world. I'm a helpful and compassionate person and my teaching style is informative, determined by the student's needs and goals, and a combination of traditional and contemporary. I have played piano over 30 years, and compose my own music during spare time. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!
I am about retired and decided to take piano lesson as a hobby last year. I knew nothing about playing piano and music theory. I was lucky to find Doniell as my piano teacher. She is very patient with me for not knowing anything and explains everything I need to know for that day’s lesson. She is also very flexible to work with me with my work and trip schedules. I have been with her for one year and take half hour lesson each week except when I was out of town, now I am able to play many songs and very happy with my good progress. I definitely recommended her to anyone who is interested in learning piano lessons. You will get satisfactions.

Our daughter is taking lessons with Doniell and after every lesson is thrilled to share her experiences. Doniell has been exceedingly accomodating of our schedule, making it absolutely pleasant to work with her. We are a homeschool family and she offered time outside of evening hours. We had several illnesses and issues with travel during the snow this past winter and she has always been understanding and patient with rescheduling. Our daughter is very enthusiastic about piano and many things in life, we are thankful we have Doniell to guide her as she continues to develop a passion for music.

-- Zeynep Alpan Biography --
Turkish-American violinist, Zeynep Alpan, started studying the violin at the age of 5 as part of her music therapy treatment for her diagnosis of speech delay and Auditory Processing Disorder. Immediately after being introduced to the violin, Zeynep began to speak and following a year and a half of violin studies, she had her first solo appearance with Vivaldi’s A minor Violin Concerto, after winning the Peabody Concerto Competition.
As a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician, Zeynep has appeared in a myriad of venues such as Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, and the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic, the Aspen Music Festival and School and the Juilliard Orchestra. She has also performed as a soloist at the Turkish American Women Leadership Event on Capitol Hill as well as at the Focus Festival: On the Air! at Lincoln Center.
Zeynep co-founded the Turkish-American Cultural Laboratory (TACL), which brings together and integrates the Turkish and American cultures through the arts. As director of this organization, Zeynep produces a multitude of events including workshops in public schools in NYC and Istanbul, commissioning new works by American and Turkish composers, and inter-disciplinary performances in the US and Turkey. Future projects include partnering with Bilkent University for an Academy for young musicians and composers in August 2020. TACL is proud to be sponsored by Turkish Airlines.
With a passion for teaching, Zeynep is also a New York Philharmonic Teaching Artist and a Morse Teaching Artist partnering with New York City Schools. She also leads the String Ensemble program at the Nord Anglia International School New York, is a teacher and mentor at the Music Advancement Program at the Juilliard School, and is on faculty at the NY Department of Education and Lincoln Center’s Audition Boot Camp.
Community outreach and service is an integral part of Zeynep’s musical life. In 2013, Zeynep co-founded the group Sonatas Stopping Starvation where she organized and ran food drives, benefit concerts and has partnered with food banks all over New York. Zeynep was also awarded the Gluck Community Service Fellowship where she played in various health care facilities in New York.
Zeynep is the first prize winner in many competitions, some of which include the Juilliard Concerto Competition, the Dorothy DeLay Competition and the National Philharmonic Competition. In 2015, Zeynep was awarded the Ataturk Youth Achievement Award by the Ataturk Society of America. Since 2017, Zeynep has been a violinist of The Montclair Orchestra. Zeynep is a graduate of the Juilliard School under the Ahmet Ertegun Scholarship (B.M. ‘17, M.M. ‘19) and will be pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts at Stony Brook University.
Aside from music, Zeynep enjoys taking business classes at Columbia University through the Barnard-Columbia-Juilliard Exchange program, drinking tea, biking, and being an avid dog lover.
My daughter had the pleasure of taking lessons with Zeynep this past summer in the PALS program in Aspen. She loved each week when it was lesson time. This is what Addison had to say, "She always would say the area I needed to work on nicely. I loved that she gave me knew things to learn at each lesson. If I didn't understand, she would keep encouraging me until I did." This was an excellent experience!

A unique and special experience! My daughter always looked forward to her sessions with Zeynep. She has been her mentor for the past two summers at the PALS program. Once after a lesson my daughter told me that she was surprised how much better she played the song after her session with Zeynep. I love the way Zeynep engages with my daughter and brings out the best in her.

Zeynep was my teacher for the PALS summer program in Aspen. Her positive attitude made my weekly lesson enjoyable. My playing improved greatly during my summer with her. She helped me become a stronger player. Watching her perform in the orchestra was inspiring.
Hi! My name is Nick and I have been teaching guitar, piano, and songwriting lessons for 2 years both privately and also as part of Oaklawn Music Studio in Rhode Island, and St. Maria Goretti School in Long Beach, CA. I have played the guitar for 11 years, been singing for 7, played piano and ukulele for 4, and producing/mixing/audio-engineering for 2. I moved from my home state of Rhode Island to Los Angeles in 2016 and attended the Los Angeles College of Music in Pasadena, CA to earn a Certificate in Music Composition (Songwriting) and have written over 150 songs myself. I have played several live shows around Los Angeles, Rhode Island, and Montana at farmers markets, art shows, coffee shops (among other humble venues), and have served as a session instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and engineer for numerous studio sessions around Lo
Currently, I reside in the small town of West Yellowstone, Montana and work as the resident musician for a company called Under Canvas. I feel that it is my time to give back to the community and teach others all that I have learned, an experience I would love to share with you.
If you have questions about any of my experience (or anything for that matter) feel free to reach out :) I typically will respond within 24 hours.

Wonderful, patient, and passionate about music. Really helps spark an interest in passion and music for kids. So impressed with his ability to connect with his students! I really appreciated his flexibility in scheduling lessons - it made it so much easier when things came up and we needed to reschedule. Self-taught, he knows wonderful techniques and strategies to help teach the kids he works with.
I hold a master on jazz performance from the Prins Claus Conservatorium (Netherlands), and I've studied classical music for over 15 years with some of the best pedagogues in the world (Edna Golandsky, Sophia Rosoff, John Bloomfield, Paul Komen). The thesis of my Masters was based on healthy piano playing, and how to play and teach it to avoid fatigue, pain and injuries. This is a serious issue that most unexperienced piano teachers have no idea about, and many experienced either. I'm easy going, and enjoy my time with children. They usually have a lot of fun at the lessons, and we can always learn to improvise, to compose, and to play classical repertoire, jazz, children songs or pop music.
As a pianist I've worked for Cunard Line, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line and Holland America Line.
"She is ONE super sweet and very Kind person. It was my first lesson on violin ever - so I was making a bunch of errors from holding the violin and moving
the bow. She was very patient with me and explained very nice. Thank you"
"Vandi was very sweet and nice. She made the lesson fun. I’m glad I began to take lessons with her."
"Jessie is great! This is my first time taking vocal lessons and wasn't sure what to expect. I'm enjoying the experience so far. She makes me feel comforta
ble and learning a lot from warm ups we practice. Her knowledge with singing and music is inspiring and she's informative, down to earth, and has a great personality. I know I will reach my goals and can see myself develop a nice voice that will sound great with my lessons with Jessie. She is the kind of instructor I was looking for and look forward to the results."
"Great voice training lesson!"
"I came into Jan's class having a different perspective on what the course was going to be. I had the mentality that we were only going to perform and get
tips. But she went beyond that and made me see songwriting and performing in a different way. I want to thank her for making me step way out of my comfort zone. I was uncomfortable, but then it made me change as a person. I'm so thankful for the opportunity that I was even introduced to someone like her. I love how she inspired and cared about the young teens and young adults that she teaches. She is an impact to many and especially me, I will never forget all the advice she gave me!"
"Michael has been teaching drums to my 6-year-old son for the past 5 months. He has been really great to work with. My son loves going to his lessons, wher
e he always has fun. Michael's demeanor is perfect for my son, keeping the lesson light and breezy in tone, but making sure he is always learning proper technique and advancing his skills.
Michael is very flexible, always working with us to adjust the schedule when needed. We rented drums at first (which we were able to do through Michael - I asked, he provided; no pressure sales), but when we were ready to purchase, he helped us find the right set. Michael even helped us get a reduced price through a local music store.
I can't say enough good things about our experience with Michael. The best testimony that I can give is that my son loves to practice his drums every day, without having to be asked!"
"First lesson with Mark was great, our daughter is very excited."
"Another great lesson with a very patient teacher."
